Summary: book to read - not skim
Review: This is a great book, but you have to take the time to actuallyREAD it. The characters are fleshed out and work together very well inthe story. Skimming won't work. Sit down, sit back, and enjoy.

Summary: Slow, tedious read; a 'forced finish' for me.
Review: My expectations we not met in my first Trurow novel. The characters were unrealistic (particularly the main one - Robbie Feaver), and the plot was tepid at best. The device of narration by "George" in the first person didn't work and was hard to follow. The ending lacked credibility, given the preceding slow buildup. I kept reading, hoping it would pick up...it didn't. This will be my last Scott Trurow book.

Summary: Mr. Turow needs to re-energize!
Review: As a fan of Turow, I was not displeased until mid-way through when this book just stopped dead. The concept and characters had a strong start, but turned into a dull, sometimes confusing lecture. I really thought of stopping but forced myself to finish. The ending was OK, but too much effort to get there.

Summary: Good for Grisham. Weak for Turow.
Review: For the first three hundred pages PERSONAL INJURIES is a typically exciting Turow novel. His books are all well written, intriguing, and have ethical and legal dimensions. However, the last hundred pages of this book read as if someone put a gun to the author's end and demanded that he allow an amateur to complete the story. Robbie is an interesting character, but who else in this story turns out to be anything more than a stick figure.

Also, in previous books Turow uses characters from his other novels as central or peripheral figures. In these past cases one need not remember the nuances of the character's personality to understand the person in the novel presently being read. In PERSONAL INJURIES, however, one is better off having remembered the Sennet from BURDEN OF PROOF to understand the motivation of this character.

This is still a relatively good read. His other books are so outstanding that almost anything else may be disappointing in comparison.

Summary: An interesting look at another aspect of the law.
Review: I have just finished Turow's latest and find it to be of the same high quality and interest as his other works. As usual, it takes the law profession and makes it readable and interesting for those of us who are not daily involved. I loved the characters in this book, just like I have loved the characters in his previous efforts. I anxiously await his next effort.

Summary: Slow paced, couldn't finish it
Review: I was looking forward to this book and have read all of Turow's previous novels. What a let down! I can name on one hand the number of books I have not finished reading and Personal Injuries has now become one of them. In addition to the uninteresting characters and Turow's odd switches from 1st to 3rd person, I found it difficult to follow the story line when he refered to his characters by their full name, then first name and finally, their last name. I sometimes thought he was referring to three different people. Very confusing! Glad I checked it out at the library and did not purchase it.

Summary: Very hard to follow
Review: I am an avid Scott Turow fan and have read all of his past books. I'm having a very hard time with this one due to the way the characters are interwoven. Seems disconnected although the whole concept behind the storyline is intreguing. I'll continue to try to get through this novel but will be eagerly awaiting a future book by this great author.-

Summary: One of Turow's weaker efforts
Review: The book never accelerated into high gear. It took me over a week to read which never happened with any of his prior books. It seemed he spent more time describing scenes in excrutiating detail than telling a story.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Set your snooze alarm
Review: I have read all of Turow's books and this is the first time I have wished I had not spent the money. It seemed to take forever to read. It actually made plane flights seem longer. Hopefully he will return to form next time. I like his main characters even though theyare a bit out there for credibility.

Summary: A 400-Page Newspaper Article
Review: I've read Scott Turow's earlier novels, which I greatly enjoyed! Unfortunately, Personal Injuries was a big disappointment. I kept plodding through it wondering when it would pick up... it never did. It was like reading a 400-page newspaper article!
