Review: I first saw this book after Ann Rule was a guest on a Philly Radio Station. I bought it, and couldnt put it down, was up the entire night reading it! Diane Downs is an engima, she had everything,a family who loved her, but she threw it all away and in doing so, crossed that line that caused her to murder. Ann Rule is a brilliant author, her command of language is the best for true crime writers since Capote, and this remains to this day, her best in my opinion. Its a must read for anyone who wants to study how a mind works.... and doesnt work, in this case. I just wish we had another update in the paper back... its been ten years and I hope the two surviving children as well as all those touched by this tragedy are doing well. AS for Diane... she is truely a modern day Medea.

Review: Ann Rule has such a gift for taking true crime stories and making them read like a novel. I could not put this one down. I was up all night long reading this and really got the creeps. This woman (Diane Downs) is absolutely fascinating. I saw her on Oprah years and years ago and she is a true psychopath. It was very creepy to watch her. I agree with the previous reader that I would like updates on this case. Ann rule is the best true crime author. She does not miss any details. This is a must read for true crime fans.

Review: I read this book years ago; it started me on an Ann Rule reading kick that's still going strong. I've now read most of her books, but none compare with "Small Sacrifices." The hairs on the back of my neck still stand on end when I think of this story. Ten years later I still can't get over it. Probably THE most horrific true-crime story ever told, bar none.

HOW COULD SHE POSSIBLY KILL AND MAIM HER OWN PRECIOUS CHILDREN. I HAVE READ MANY BOOKS BUT THIS HAS KEPT ME UP AND WEIGHED ON MY MIND FOR YEARS.

Review: I have read this book more than once, and I am still astonished by this case! This was the first true-crime book that I ever read, and it started an interest in criminal psychology that is now becoming my career! I have suggested this book to everyone that I know! After reading the story of Diane Downs, you will never be the same. It is so hard to believe that a mother did what is every mother's nightmare to her own children! And to Christy and Danny, wherever you are, may God bless you and keep you safe.

Summary: Another great book by Ann Rule
Review: No one tells a true crime story like Ann Rule. This book manages to tell us of a horrible crime without unnecessary sensationalism. Ann Rule brings us so close to Cristy and Danny that we are left wondering what became of them and hoping they have done well.
