Rating: Summary: Nights in Rodanthe Review: I love Nicholas Sparks book. Currently I am reading another book by him in conjunction with this one. I liked Nights in Rodanthe for the most part. In some ways it does follow he pattern of his writing, like the way he introdues people. But it is different than his other books, because it's more laid back, which personally I really enjoyed. He kept me guessing with the relationship between Paul and Adrienne, and the ending was very unexpected! Sparks has done a very great job with this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone, but I'm warning you. Once you read one Nicholas Sparks book, it's very hard to not get hooked! I know I am now!
Rating: Summary: good Review: This book was good, but only a three compared to The Notebook!
Rating: Summary: Keep the tissues near... Review: When Adrienne Willis sees her grown daughter sinking into a black hole of despair after she is widowed at a young age, she realizes that to keep her daughter from a living death, she must share her most precious and painful secret. One afternoon, she takes the younger woman aside and tells her what happened to her about a decade and a half before, when she was in an almost eequally dark place, still recovering from divorce. Adrienne took time away from her children to go and take care of a friend's inn for a few days. While there, she met a handsome doctor who was spending time there before going to try and reconnect with his medical missionary son. Paul was also dealing with the painful loss of a patient and her familiy's bitterness. These two lost souls found each other and found healing in a brief love. Then it comes time to return to the real world, with promises to meet again in a year. The year passes, and Paul does not come back; he can't. So, Adrienne spends the rest of her life outwardly alone, but less so than before. Her life had been healed and given meaning by the one bright moment that she now shares with her hurting child. *** Nicholas Sparks is a man who knows the value of pain, how sometimes it is the thing that gives a depth and beauty the to rest of life. Like he did in A Walk to Remember, he shows readers that a moment of love is worth the pain that may come later. Some might think he is someone not to read if you are sad, but on the contrary, read him then. You might have no one else to cry with, and you can feel that he knows your tears. *** Reviewed by Amanda
Rating: Summary: Good book. Review: I enjoyed this one much more than A Bend in the Road and The Rescue. For a great read, check out Sparks' new book, The Guardian.
Rating: Summary: English Assignment on This Book Review: I loved this book. It was very interesting. It's a romance not exactly from my age area. It's more of an adult romance for people who are divorced but I enjoyed it very much just because it's romance. I believe anyone can enjoy this book because alot of people can relate to that. READ THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Barely worth finishing Review: I read "A Walk to Remember" and loved it making me want to read more books by this author. Unfortunately, "Nights in Rodanthe" was the most boring book I've read in a loooong time. Sparks didn't get me involved in the story nor make me care a hoot about the characters. I wish I hadn't even bothered to finish it and am happy I borrowed this from the library so I didn't waste my money on it. I will definitely be bypassing this author's books from now on. There are too many really good books out there to waste time on books that read like bad TV movie-of-the-week ideas.
Rating: Summary: A Decent Novel Review: The first book I read by Mr. Sparks was 'A Walk To Remember' and from that book on, I have been drawn to read all his novels, and Nights In Rodante is a decent novel, but nothing like 'A Walk To Remember'. This is a tender love story of two strangers from two different worlds, and yet by chance, they fall in love, but they only share that love for that one weekend. Of course, some of the writing is simple, and very very predictable, but it is worth checking out of the library, not worth really buying.
Rating: Summary: A tender love story Review: After the break up of Adrienne Willis's marriage, she absorbed herself in the task of rearing her children but was left with a feeling of worthlessness. She agrees to run an Inn for a friend for 5 days and is agreeably surprised by her only guest, a noted surgeon, Dr. Paul Flanner, with whom she feels an instant attraction. He is just as drawn to her and they share 5 days of love and warmth. He explains to her that he is divorced and admits to being a work obssessed and negligent father who would now like to make things right with his son, also a doctor, and working with the poor in Equador. They agree that after Paul spends his committed time in South America, he will return to her and make a life together. Things don't work to plan and Adrienne is forced to conceal her grief and to reassess her life once again.
Rating: Summary: Same Old Same Old Review: One star at best. Predictable, same old story line. I felt like I was reading a bad rewrite of the Bridges of Madison County. I always read every book that I buy, but I almost broke my rule this time. What a struggle to finish the book! This is my first Nicholas Sparks novel, and my last.
Rating: Summary: Thumbs up! Review: As is the case with all Sparks novels, this love story comes packaged in a small hardcover binding with very few chapters. It's an unbelievably quick read about two middle aged divorcees finding true love when neither was looking or thought it was possible. Sparks writes very beautiful, lyrical prose, filled with descriptions of all around: the landscape, the houses, the people, the heart. I recommend you read this latest title!
