Rating: Summary: Fascinating, if not breathtaking Review: This book reminded me that the simple things in life are what count the most. I found it a very easy read and I would reccommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Whoopie! A new author Review: This was an amazinigly written book. Well worth the long read. It makes you stop and think about your own lives. Very introspective. A definite must read if you enjoy a thick plot with interspersing under tones of other plots.
Rating: Summary: Total Hicksville Review: While you read this book you learn to appreciate the little things in life us city citizens take for granted. I'm not a fan of Wal-Mart, but I am of Billie Letts now!
Rating: Summary: easy reading, but characters uninteresting. Review: While this book was easy to read, I didn't find myself not being able to put it down. In comparison to Oprah's other selections (eg, Stones from the River, I Know This Much is True), it falls flat. Novalee seemed too perfect, and even through she faces hard times at different points in the book, she comes out on top, always, and I found that extremely unrealistic. I couldn't identify with that. The other characters were two-dimensional, where they could have been developed (Lexie, Forney). Overall, very dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: It was great I didn't want to put the book down! Review: I'm not one to read much but I love Oprah's show and the books that they read realy appeal to me. I like a good story especially if I can relate. This is a great book, it just goes to show you that there are good people out there.
Rating: Summary: A thoroughly Enjoyable Book to read Review: Billie Letts lets you know that when the going gets tough....the tough get going...Talk about a real turnaround book. This poor girl stranded in a Wal-Mart pregnant and homeless with under $10.00..you think HOW COULD THIS GET BETTER? It brings together the compassion of a small town to let her in and grow as a person. I could not put this book down from the first page. A wonderful enlightening book to read when you feel that life can't get any worse. It shows you the human soul is a precious thing and life is too good to waste. I finished the book feeling really good. It is so nice to finally read a book that makes you feel that way. This book in my opinion is similar to "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb. I recommend this book for everyone with an open heart and mind.
Rating: Summary: Left me wanting more Review: Where the Heart Is was one of the best books I have read in a long time. It was very easy reading and I couldn't put the book down. This book left me wanting more and I hope this book will have a part two to follow.
Rating: Summary: Read a book in 4 hours Review: After purchasing this book, it took me 5 hours to read the entire book, I could not close it. Having been left in VA with a 7 week baby, many years ago, this book truly hit home. The many people who helped Novalee through her trying times, can truly be found all around the world.
Rating: Summary: Thoroughly entertaining! Review: After a heartless abandonment, Rosalee and her daughter are embraced by the loving characters in a small southwestern town. You can't help but cheer her on, as she rises above her circumstances, gradually transforming from a teen with no roots, into a woman with a home and a purpose. Rosalee's love and unconditional acceptance of people are what make her character so attractive.
Rating: Summary: Yahoo This Book was Great Review: I know this much is true is an easy-read and a great reminder of the simple, important things in life. Also recommended: ladder of years, a virtuous woman
