Rating: Summary: SCaring and love in the Heartland of America Review: tII I loved the transformation Novelee goes through. At first she is a young ,pregnant 17 year old with no where to go. By the end of this story she is a strong, accomplished young women who can stand on her own. I loved all the other wonderful characters like Sister Husband who opens her home to Novalee after the birth of her baby. Also Forney Hull is great as the eccentric librarian who comes to love Novalee.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: From the moment you meet Novalee you are drawn into her world. I thought it was appropriate that the story centered around Wal-Mart. That chain has really has become the center of small towns. By the end of the book you feel you have known Novalee and Americus for years and they are your friends. Their lives make you look and question your own. The writing style was interesting and kept my attention. I do wish the ending had been a little more definitive.
Rating: Summary: what was the point ??? Review: as the first book chosen in a new book club, i was vey disappointed with the entire novel. It started out flat and ended on the same note. all of the characters could have had intresting story lines, but the author left each one underdeveloped, with the readers wondering the real reason she introduced them at all!!! I honestly believe she was trying to take up space on a empy page. the characters were all immature and niave, instead of feeling sorry for them i think they basically got what they deserved. i do not understand what the entire oprah clan was crying about!!! i too went through a array of emotions...bored,mad and disgusted
Rating: Summary: Yes, a Fannie Flagg graduate! Review: I loved it. Couldn't put it down. All of the characters seemed so true to life and reminded me of friends and family. I have a sister like Novalee. She too would hide in a store not wanting to face or deal with the reality of her situation. But you can't help but love her. Looking forward to the next book.
Rating: Summary: I great! Review: I found the book was outstanding to read. I read book over. This book has so much something to her. You what to know what going to happen.
Rating: Summary: What a disappointment Review: While the book is certainly an easy read with interesting characters, it was about as shallow and trite as an "after-school special. I have trouble understadning why everyone enjoyed it so much. The writing evoked very little emotion in me, which is especially surprising considering some of the sad moments in this book. I never felt who the characters truly were nor what they were feeling. The overused references to the Home felt so forced, it was more like a reading an assignment in middle school. What am I missing? I guess it was fun, just as soap operas can be fun?
Rating: Summary: A journey that will intrigue anyone... Review: This book made me rethink about life, in general. It had that effect, that effect that only a unique book such as this one could produce. I recommended it to all my friends at school, and they loved it. Billie Letts combined a dose of love, heartache in laughter and concocted this inspiring novel, that really did take me to Where the Heart Is.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING!!!! Review: I absolutely loved this book. There are so many lessons to be learned. It made me cry tears of happiness and of sadness. I had no choice but to reomend it to those I know. They too, loved it and this coming summer this masterpiece will be placed on my high school reading list. But it is a book for everyone. A must read! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Good fast read Review: I give this Book 5 stars!! It took only 1 and 1/2 days to read.I could not put it down, now my family can have their meals on the table again,ha ha.I'm looking forward to reading her other book The Honk and Holler Opening Soon.It was good to see that Wlly Jack came to his senses and Novalee had the kindness in her heart to take him back to his home.
Rating: Summary: A heart warming book Review: I hardly have any pleasure reading time and I am so glad I was able to make the time for this book! I felt the plot moved at a great pace and it was easy reading because it seemed so real!!
