Rating: Summary: Zany fun, a great read! Review: This is an enjoyable, easy read. It's so zany and the characters and events are so colorful, it definitely takes you for a ride. You fall in love with the characters and at the same time, find a few characters you love to hate. You never know what to expect as you turn each page. This is fun fiction, sometimes a little too outlandish, but if you want facts and real stories, read an autiobiography or encyclopedia. Perhaps not the type of book to read if you are a self-help book fanatic. Great read for the beach, travel, or just for fun.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely heart-warming, charming, and funny. Review: I think Billie Letts has captured the true spirit of home and family in this book. I am 17 years old myself and was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful, warm, motherly description of Novalee. I have so many friends who are mothers but not moms and I hope there are girls out there that could give themselves to their child as Novalee did. I was inspired by the characters- their lives and their words. Over the years I have lost faith in the kind heart of people but this book gave me hope that there really are people out there that care. I laughed, I cried and I flew through it. Good job, Billie Letts!!!!! I hope to see more books from your heart. I was moved.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: I really liked the characters in this book and found it heartwarming and inspirational. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a well-written realistic story.
Rating: Summary: Adventure of the heart... Review: I had not planned on reading a book by Oprah's Book Club but decided to give this one a try. As I began it, I realized how hard it is to grow up. Novalee is young, scared, alone, and nervous about how she will survive. This book immediately makes you feel that you are involved with her life. Novalee has a little bit of all of us in her. Her anxiety about being alone is one that most of us share. This book shows us that with a little faith, we can get the help we need and find where the heart is! Wouldn't it be great if we all had a Sister Husband??? Great book! Buy it...its well worth it!!!!!
Rating: Summary: the best book i have read in years Review: I could not put this book down . I read it in two days . it warmed my heart and made me think alot about small towns in america . how we can all help each other .I only hope now they make a movie out of it . I give it a ten !!! way to go billie .
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: This book is a jewel. It's rich, funny, honest and displays real-life struggles brilliantly. Author Billie Letts is a gifted writer that draws her readers fully into her stories. A+ reading!
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read Review: I am floored! What an incredible novel! Billie Letts has written a masterpiece in 3-D. Her words jump off the page and create characters and lives that you can actually "see." The story of Novalee is sad, but ends in such a triumph, kind of like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Ms. Letts doesn't forget anything, and she uses the same theme throughout the entire book to remind us how some of the things people say can change your life forever. I will never forget this book. I am ready to pass it on to others, but only to those who promise to give it back!
Rating: Summary: After I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. Review: This book really touches the heart and I felt like I really knew Novalee and her friends. Billie Lets made the characters come to life. There were a few parts that seemed a bit unbelievable, but otherwise it was a wonderful story.
Rating: Summary: a pretty good book Review: Although it appeared to be a real crowd pleaser, I would not say that I could not put it down or that I read it straight through in one night because I didn't. I know that people have done that with this book, but I ran across a couple of boring parts and it took me a week to finish it. I did think that it showed the atmosphere of a Wal-Mart pretty much. I did doubt whether a person could spend two months sleeping in a Wal-Mart without being detected. I don't know if I believe that one, which is why it is fiction. Overall, I did think it was a good book and I would recommend it to others.
Rating: Summary: and i haven't finished it yet Review: I still have half the book to read, but it is a great read. I recommend it to all.
