Rating: Summary: Enjoyed the book... Quick read Review: I found Where the Heart Is to be an interesting, entertaining novel with rich characters such as Forney Hull, Moses Whitecotten and Sister Husband that are all positive examples of good, kind, intellegent people... they do exist, not just in books! However I did not care for Lexie. I did not feel her character was well developed. I felt no positive spirit. Also, the unfortunate tragedy experienced by her children due to her own mistake and lack of sense was unnecessary and I saw no positive outcome or resolution to the problems it created.
Rating: Summary: What a bunch of junk. Slow and unrealistic! Review: This book was SO boring and unrealistic I tossed it before I even finished. Normally, once I begin a book I feel compelled to finish, however, I allowed myself this mistake & returned the book. How a story like this could entertain so many people is beyond me....
Rating: Summary: A well written novel, I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Review: I opened up the book to chaper 1. and from the first sentence, I was hooked. Every word has it's own meaning if you just look. Based on the theme of "the home is where the heart is", you slowly learn to understand that no matter how old you are, what color you are or what religion you are, even a Wal-Mart could be your home. Each character has their own uniquely genuine personality. Once you pick it up, just try to put it down. Every page takes you through a maze of laughter and tears you always seem end up in the same, warm and comforting place, where your heart is, home. In my opinion, everybody and everyone can read it and enjoy. You'll find yourself smiling, laughing, or even crying. I give it 5 stars with two thumbs up. This is #1 on your must read list. "Where The Heart Is" is one of the best books I've ever read and has left some of the Best Seller authors speachless.
Rating: Summary: Makes you think Review: I LIKE ONLY AUTOBIOGRAPHY's .... or so I thought. Like others, I didn't think I'd like this bookMy Aunt sent me off to my trip to the beach with this on a recent trip to North Carolina. Wow - Just read it. I did in less than 24 hours
Rating: Summary: You can't go wrong with this book Review: I've already read this book since it first debuted and I longed to read it again for the second time. This time I fully appreciated more on the scenerios and the plots because it's very believable and realistic. You reallly can't go wrong with this book. I heartly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book! Review: This is an uplifting story with characters so alive you feel you know them. I didn't want it to be over. Read this book!
Rating: Summary: Definitley Shows Where The Heart Is Review: I had not heard about Where the Heart Is until a friend gave it to me. When I first started reading I didn't think I would like the story. A poor, pregnant hillbilly who is dumped out at the Wal-Mart and has her baby there. Well, I was soon surprised that I could not put the book down. I wanted to find out more about Novalee and the small town that takes her in. I was really moved by the book. It made me cry, laugh, and pay attention. It showed that home is where the heart is and thats the truth. It was a really great book that turned out really wonderful. I would have never imagined that Willy Jack would come back to help Novalee realize that she had one chance to do the most important thing for her and her daughter. I truly did not want the book the end. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to find where the heart is!
Rating: Summary: great book! Review: ONE OF THE MANY MUST READ BOOKS FOR THE SUMMER
Rating: Summary: Empowering and Affirming Review: I love Novalee, Oprah, Sis Nation, and Billie Letts!! What a beautiful novel. If you are down on your luck, go and get this book. What strikes me in this book is this girl was down and as out could be, but she rose above that, and made a better life for herself..Brava Novalee and Billie!
Rating: Summary: pseudo-emotional, over the top Review: A drawn out tearjerker of a novel with a couple of reedeming features but frankly- there are much better books out there to read. Oprah's picks of I know this much is true, she's come undone, and midwives were much better books.
