Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Lots of heart, flat characters
Review: Novalee seemed to drag as a character. Perhaps, she was more take than give which bothered me. The Wal Mart experience should have been lengthened. How did she dodge the nightwatch, the janitor? How did inventory account for the missing clothes and food? Willy Jack was an interesting character, although he was the villain. Forney was too good to be true. In spite of these traits, the book reads fast and has memorable instances (the tornado, Jolene's bar scene, and the tragic chapter 29).

Summary: I was tricked!
Review: The story was going along fine, just fine and then the author delved into explicit child molestation tabloidism. Why? There are already too many stories about women and children being brutalized. I thought this would be different but I was tricked!

Summary: A story of great tenderness and the spirit of forgiveness
Review: I loved this book. It is one of the few that I will probably read again. Novalee is a great heroine. She keeps on going in spite of difficulties with the ability to form loving relationships with people she accidently comes in contact with; relationships that become permanent in her life. Although she received little love in her early life, she certainly has a lot of love in her that she shines on her "family".

Summary: OVERRATED
Review: Where The Heart Is is a great read, not to mention would make an even better movie...but it's pretty over-the-top and fake! Of course it is-it's a great story..but connection with the characters was not even close. Just borrow it...don't buy.

Summary: A book that displays pure emotions and full of heart
Review: Where the Heart is touched my heart with the kind characters and the exciting storyline. I borrowed it from the library and read it cover ot cover in two days. I can't wait for Billie Letts next book. I recommend this book to any teenager or women who were teenagers that had suffered heartaches and heartbreaks. Also those who look to signs to guide their lives. A very heartfelt book which will definetly touch your heart.

Summary: Could not put it down...I was entranced by the characters!
Review: Mrs. Letts desribed Novalee in a manner that made me want to befriend her also. I was so moved how her new found friends that had so little material goods we so generous to this total stranger. Americus was enchanting...I especially loved when she recieved her doctor's kit and went to work on everyone and everything (telling the cow it's teets were too fat!) I would love to thank Mrs.Letts for taking me on a journey through Novalee's coming of adulthood; I will never forget it.

Summary: One that lives up to its reviews...
Review: Finally a book that lives up to its reviews. The protagonist, although a little dim, is surprisingly resourceful managing her various predicaments. A good, fast, entertaining read.

Summary: I loved it from beginning to end
Review: As insightful and intriguing as The Triumph and the Glory, as fast-paced as any John Grisham book, and graced with unforgettable characters, Where The Heart Is was just wonderful.
