Rating: Summary: Nation, Goodluck, Whitecotton... engraved in my heart Review: I've read hundreds of novels. And once in a while one comes around that touches my soul...this one I must admit I could not put down. The characters are beyond powerful... and I credit Billie Letts for loaning them to us. Benny Goodluck with his rich heritage, Moses Whitecotton whos wisdom I could taste and feel, and Forney whos eccentric nature captivated instead of isolated me. I will carry these characters with me for many days I suspect. May I find individuals in my life who enrich me as Novalee's did.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, however ultimately very simplist. Review: I found this book a delight to read, and foundd myself finishing it in one sitting, and glad that I did not purchash it, but borrowed it from a local library. I can understand why it has recieved many adult fiction awards, because it really suits that particular age group with its simple style of writing and happy-go-lucky ending. I can hardly say that it was an overly emotional or difficult read, however the excellent storyline was enough to entice me. I found this novel interesting enough, without tedium and simple to read, hence well worth the effort. Perhaps it is not the best book to purchash however, and it more suitably borrowed.
Rating: Summary: I think this is excellent! Review: This book brought tears to my eyes in some parts. I think it is amazing how real it seemed. I felt like I was there. I felt how Novalee felt. The text is very well written. This book was better than I thought it was going to be. I learned my lesson, never judge a book by its cover!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: This book was the most inspirational book I have ever read. Novalee went through so much and still came out on top. ONce I started reading I couldn't stop. I read the whole thing in one sitting.
Rating: Summary: Did I miss something? Review: ...The story line was dull and boring. Just when I thought it might get interesting the story just became even worse. The characters were one-dimensional. Whatever happened to creating a story where the characters had actual feelings? Novalee goes through disappointment after disappointment in her life and acts like nothing bothers her? Maybe the author should have spent more time on character development instead of wasting so much time on their names! There was nothing amazing about this book, amazingly boring and unintelligent is more like it...
Rating: Summary: Did I miss something? Review: I don't understand all the 5 star ratings this book recieved. The story line was dull and boring. There was nothing amazing about this book, amazingly boring and unintelligent is more like it. What next Oprah? are you going to turn this into another awful movie? Yikes.... Save your money and time.. cause this book deserves neither.
Rating: Summary: One of Oprah's best picks! Review: Truly, this has to be one of the best books that Oprah has ever chosen for her show. Immediately, you are drawn to the characters and their problems. I found this to be a hard book to put down. Every time I did, I wondered what was happening with the characters. By the time the book ends, you will want to read more about them. An enjoyable read that only took me one day! I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Book Review: I found this book to be very intriguing. I personally am not a reader by choice, I only read when I have to for school but this book I couldn't put down. The characters seemed so real and so in touch with today it was like reading a true story. This book encouraged me to read another book from Oprah's book club and I can't wait until the movie comes out!
Rating: Summary: A truely stunning novel! -MUST READ Review: I couldn't put this book down! Novalee Nation goes through her new life in Oklahoma and it truley is one to read about...I found this book so in contact with my own life that it was just so much fun to read and I will never forget this one girl's story.
Rating: Summary: BELIEVE Review: I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT BOOK... I HAVE ALWAYS WONDER IF PEOPLE REALLY DID LIVE IN STORES AFTER HOURS! I ALSO THINK THAT THIS BOOK IS FOR GIRLS WHO HAVE BOYFRIENDS THAT TREAT THEM LIKE DIRT SHOULD READ THIS BOOK... IT GAVE ME A WHOLE NEW MEANING OF LIFE AND A NEW MEANING OF MEETING NEW PEOPLE
