Rating: Summary: Funny and very entertaining ! Review: What a nice, funny and entertaining book to read! A "laugh out loud" book as you follow Novalee and all the other characters she encounters. Mix in some seriousness and an easy-to-read literary style and you have a great book for a rainy weekend. This is a book everyone should read.
Rating: Summary: Where the Heart Is Review: I found this book to be so good, that it was very hard to put down. I could see her there in the Wal-Mart living & giving birth to her baby, it seemed so real & yet scary to think that a boyfriend could just leave her there all alone, and with really NO money. What a Jerk! I found myself hating him so very much. I was glad he had a hard time of it! And I was glad that people helped her & she got to be friends with so many good people! I really loved this book & have given it to some to read, so they could see what a GREAT story that it is! I would hope that I am that kind to someone that needs help like she did! Enjoy It's a GREAT Story!
Rating: Summary: bubble gum book Review: I found myself wanting to keep reading to find out what happened, but at the same time not believing how incredibly HOKIE it was! (example-Sam Walton visiting Novalee in the hospital) I was very surprised Oprah picked this out out of all the books that could be chosen and how are they possibly going to make a movie out of it? If this is the best book so many people have ever read I feel sad for them. It just felt to me like Letts was trying too hard in her writing or that she would write any unbelievable thing to sound original. Didn't work for me.
Rating: Summary: Bravo Billie Letts Review: I'm a mystery lover at heart but received this book from my sister so decided to give it a try. Right from the start I fell in love with Novalee and the other characters. Ms. Letts writes in such a way that a movie seems to run in the back of your mind as you read the words. By the time you've finished, you feel as if you're a part of the "family" and experienced all that happened personally. This is definately a MUST READ!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This is a wonderful book. It kept me hooked from the very beginning. Trials and terrors that she went through were amazing. I am glad that I don't have the unlucky sevens. If anyone knows any books that I would like if a really liked this one. Please e-mail me LaurenL@gps.eduLauren
Rating: Summary: I can't belive it! Review: Since reading "She's come undone" another oprah book club sponsor, I have been keeping tabs on oprah's books. I can honestly say this book is the best. I started reading it one morning before class, and I got so into it I skipped class. I know that's bad but, before I knew it I was done with the book. Since then I have read this book 3 times. My copy is so ragged a friend gave me another one for x-mas. This book will grab you on the first page, and you won't want to put it down from their. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Buy it, and you'll soon cherish it like I do.
Rating: Summary: Did I read the same book? Review: While I will not criticize Ms. Letts' writing style or ability; because of the content I must say that this was the absolute, most horrid book I have EVER read. It made me physically ill and I didn't even finish it. I realize life isn't always pretty, and that bad things happen to people all the time, but please, this book should have come with a warning label! I'm sure it would serve well as a Cautionary-tale for Single Mothers Prone to Dating, but shame, shame on Oprah, Billie Letts, and the publisher for not warning the rest of us of the graphic, sickening nature of this allegedly "heartwarming" story. Quite disturbing.
Rating: Summary: Review for "Where the Heart Is" Review: Since me being of an adolecent age unlike most people reading this book I thought it was a bit slow. It started out exciting and then it got quite dull and then exciting and so on. It was interesting as how racism somehow worked it's way into this book especially with a certain charater. It was touching to read how the community opened up to the main character but somehow I didn't really go for it. I recommend this book to people who are avid readers. Thanks
Rating: Summary: Where the heart is Review: This book is a must read. I stayed up until 2am to finish it. I couldn't put it down. I had to find out what was going to happen to Novalee and the other characters in the book. Very well written and your able to follow along with the story with no difficulty. This is a type of book you want to pass along to a friend or family member for them to read.
Rating: Summary: Where the Heart Is Review: I enjoyed this book very much. Being a mother and wife I can't always find time in my busy schedule to read, but the book was so entertaining that I would find myself getting up earier then usual, going to bed a little later then usual, and taking it with me where ever I went and would read every chance I got. I, like Novelle was a young, single, mother so I can somewhat relate to her. However I never went through all that she did and she came through it all; a strong, wonderful mother and person. I'm glad Willy Jack got what he deserved! I will recommend the book to my friends and relatives.
