Rating: Summary: Best Book I've Ever Read Review: Billie Letts is a fabulous writer! Her characters in each of her books are unique and sometimes even a little odd, but that's what makes them so lovable. It's those characteristics and such that brings you into her book and make you see, smell, and emerge yourself into what the characters are going through. Novalee's life will draw you in and maybe teach you a lesson on the matters of the heart along the way. GREAT BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Too sugary sweet Review: I picked this book up as I had heard the buzz from fellow workers. I found this to be one of the worst books I've ever read. I'd label this trailer trash meets harlequin romance. Ugh.
Rating: Summary: If you want a book to read, read this... Review: She's seventeen-years-old and seven months pregnant. Her name is Novalee Nation and unlucky sevens haunt her. She was stranded at Wal-mart by her (supposed to be loving) boyfriend Willy Jack. She had no where to go and no one to help her. Until it happened. She lived in Wal-mart for six weeks and then came a miracle. "It's a girl." Novalee named her Americus so when people knew her they would remember her name forever. As weeks went by Novalee met a lot of wonderful people in the small town of Sequoyah, Oklahoma. People who will change her and make a great impact on Americus. "Beautifully written... Funny, Bittersweet," says Dallas Morning news. " Letts's writing shines," says San Fransico Examiner-Chronicle. I recommend this book to a lot of adolescents and adults because the author points out a lot of good lessons that should be heard about more frequently. It's a loving, warm-hearted book. I couldn't put it down. Billie Letts, the author, leads you on a never-to-forget journey on one's life as it is seen.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ Review: Hey, I am not a big book-reader at all, but when i read this book I was hooked! I was in France at the time and I would rather read the book then go sightseeing, my eyes just wouldn't let me go anywhere. Thankyou Billy Letts for finally making me actually enjoy a book, and I can't wait to see the movie!
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Review: This is the best book. When I first got the book i read 185 pages in one day. I finished the other half in the next day! If you like this book you deffinitly have to see the movie!
Rating: Summary: Where the Heart Is Review: I needed to read this novel for one of my english classes. It sat on the floor of my room for a week and a half. I decided to pick it up and give it a try. I finished it in 2 days. I loved how the story unfolded and as new obstacles presented themsleves, and wondered how Novalee would handle them. I found this to be a great book and would recomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have ever read. Review: This book was so heart-felt and thought provoking, I was deeply touched by the characters and the things that went on in their lives. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good drama.
Rating: Summary: Where The Heart Is Review: A terrific look into how a woman can turn her life around after several terrible events. It left me with a confindence, yet I was also disappointed in some of the situations, since I typically read a book for the romance.
Rating: Summary: Simple, unpretentious, and giving Review: In this novel, Novalee Nation ( a 17 year old pregnant girl) is abandoned my an absolute dispicable jerk of a boyfriend, at Walmart. While sitting outside of Walmart, Novalee meets 4 characters that will change her life for the better. This community is generous and loving. Novalee grows and matures (although she really doesn't see that in herself) The story also tells us what is happening in her ex-boyfriends life. . . . I have to say I hate the ex. There was one scene in the book that really made me want to put the book down and never pick it up. One of Novalee's friends children gets raped by her friends boyfriend. I'm sorry, but I am sick of reading things like this. I wish books had a rating on them like movies. That way one could decide if they want to read this subject matter. Do most of Oprah's books have to have a rape scene in them? 4 of her choices do. I think I just enjoy books that make me feel great about life.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfull Intriguing book-Not so great ending Review: As I read this book I was captured in the depth and detail of Novalees life. I think the book was a wonderfull story of her life and was very interesting. The ending was nothin like I expected it to be and was not all that great. But I would read the book again anyday. It is wonderfull for teenagers like myself who are looking for an intriguing novel. I would read a sequal to this book.
