Rating: Summary: Really good book.... Review: Most books , I read in like one glob of minutes , but this one , when I was feeling depressed , I picked it up. Some of it was hard to follow , but otherwards it was funny and creative!
Rating: Summary: An entertaining book Review: I must admit I was hesitant to get this book. I wasn't sure if I'd like it and everyone it seemed had said it was great. I didn't want to be disappointed. I bought the book and read it in a couple of days. I was not disappointed. The author has written a touching story of a seventeen year old girl, Novalee, who gets dumped at a Wal-Mart by her boyfriend. (Did I mention she's pregnant?) This girl has no money, no family, basically no nothing. She then meets with some of the most original characters I've ever read about. The author has done such a good job of making all the characters seem real. I thought she did an excellent job of bringing the characters to "life" on the pages. She captured the spirit of the South wonderfully. This book provided me with many laughs and also brought me to tears. And I can't say that about many books. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending. It seemed to me like the book ended suddenly, like all of a sudden she ran out of time. Some people might say this book is cheesy and far-fetched but I think if you give it a chance you will like, if not love, it.
Rating: Summary: The Heart Is Good Where It Is Review: This book is better than I expected. When I first saw it, I thought it would be boring, but its storyline is fairly complicated. They have okay dialogue, for example, "The name has to help them through bad times." Most of the people that are in the story have personalities that act like this. The phrase has meaning. That's why I like it. One of the characters will be named because of that too. There are advanced words, but they're not so complicated that you don't understand the story. It has many people with various characteristics. The details are the best that you can hope for. The book starts out with a teenage pregnancy. Then it becomes a love story of a guy and a girl. It circles them and the people that encounter them. It mostly concentrates on how the girl gets over pregnancy and homelessness and finds strength in herself. This book moved me, slightly, during the sad parts. This is a passable book, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: Where The Heart Is is a story about a young girl who was deserted in Seqouyah,Oklahoma Wal-Mart by her boyfriend on their way out to California. Run-ning low on cash with only $7.77, 17 years old, 7 months pregnant and superstitious about sevens with nowhere to go she decides to live secretly in the Wal-Mart and meets some outrageous, but loving people like blue-haired Sister Thelma, she struggles to make it through life, yet in the end, she succeeds. I believe all people should read it because it's a great book!
Rating: Summary: A Place to Belong Review: I recently read the book "Where the Heart Is," and I think that it was outstanding. I liked this book because it shows that if you don't give up you will be all right. I recommend this book for all people to read because it might teach you something about how the world is not always a friendly place, and if you have a home and a place to belong, don't just give it up. One of my favorite quotes was, "A name has a history. And that history is gonna be there even when you're." I liked how all of the characters were very different, and they each had a special message to give by the end of the book. Novalee was the main character in the book, and she was seventeen years old when her boyfriend left her at a Wal-Mart. But my favorite character was Forny because at first he was mysterious, and then he became a good friend for Novalee. I think that the character that had the most problems was Willy Jack. But I thought that it was funny how the tables were turned on him after leaving Novalee. I hope that if you decide to read this book that you will have the same experience with it that I did. I think that this book was very inspirational!
Rating: Summary: awesome book Review: I think that this book is one of the best books that I have ever read. It deals with lots of different aspects of life. The book is about a seventeen-year-old pregnant girl named Novellee. She was ditched at a Wal-Mart by her boyfriend. Novellee lives in Wal-Mart for two months and then she has her baby there. After she has the baby she moves in with a lady whom she met inside of Wal-Mart. She also falls in love with a librarian. In the meantime, while Novellee is trying to get her life together, her boyfriend who ditched her is trying to pursue a career in the music business. This book is jam-packed with suprises. I think everyone can relate to this book. It is the kind of book that can make you laugh and cry at the same time. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good book.
Rating: Summary: It is different. Review: Being a thirteen year old teenager who doesn't like serious fiction books, Where The Heart Is is one anybody could read. It gives deepening parts that could recleanse the soul, and other parts could give you chills to your arms. The makes you think, "What would I do if I were her." It makes you embrassive like a soap opera, and exiciting like an action movie. It's poetic. It's inspiring. Most of all the book portrays the life of many young girls with life changing problems. In this case it relates to a girl who was pregnant at seventeen, and she gets a guy who treats her like garbage. Like many girls with this problem, the man gets a young girl pregnant. Then he gets himself in another young "victim." This book could be read by people who like romance novels. It could be read by men. In general you could recommend this book to anyone.

Rating: Summary: A fantastic book! Review: If you are looking for something just plain good to read, this book is it. When I got to the end I was sad that it wasn't longer. I haven't read any other books by Letts, but this one will certainly prompt me to. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Where the Heart Is Review: Where the Heart Is is an exciting and fasanating book with two different parts. The first part was about a pregant, homeless, seventeen year old girl who gets abanded at a Walmart by her boyfriend Willy Jack Pickens. That part I could relate to because I'm thirteen and I understood all her issues. Then Novalee ends up living and having her baby Americus in Walmart. She gets the center of attention in the little town in Oklahoma. She meets lots of new friends that care for her and help her. Her unlucky sevens and haunting past come back to haunt her. She tries to deal with everything and tries to love herself before she can love someone else. The second part of the story was about Willy Jack Pickens, the man who abanded Novalee at a Walmart in Oklahoma. He goes broke and tries to become a rockstar by making up a song from his past. A lady says he stole the song, so Willy Jack is out of the music business and gets put in jail. While he suffers form pain and lies, he tries to come back to the past even though the past was a long time ago. He reunites with Novalee at a hospital and reveals a lie he told to Novalee when he said he didn't feel his baby's heart. Then he says that once you made a lie, you better tell the truth before it's too late, so Novalee goes to Forney and tells him she lied and says she loves him. Through out the whole book, most of it is about the past. It was a real heartwarming book and I suggest you read it!
