Summary: Couldn't Put it Down
Review: This book was given to me a year ago (before I even knew that Oprah was recommending books) and once I started it, I HAD to finish it. I was so enthralled I was late to work trying to finish it. Unfortunately, the movie was terrible (imho). The book is DEFINITELY a must read for anyone! Loved it!

Summary: AN AMAZING BOOK!
Review: This book is now my favorite! I hadn't read it in a while, but I just had the urge to read it again when the movie came out. When I did, I discovered even more things that I loved about it. It is an uplifting story that contains believable (and not so believable) events. The writer really grabs my attention and I absolutely loved each and every character!

Summary: My #1 Favorite Book
Review: I read this book in one and a half days. I saw the movie first, which I also highly recommend. The writing style of this book is fantastic, and I recommend it to all ages. There is a character for everyone to relate to. There are so many good messages, and I have made Novalie Nation (the main character) my personal fictional role model. Although she did make the mistake of getting pregnant as a teenager, she blossemed into a healthy moral young lady. I can't say enough about this book, and I cannot portray the excellency of it in my review, so I recommend that you just go out and buy it and see for yourself! And have a good time reading it!

Summary: My fav. book- and I'm only 12!
Review: Last year- when I was in 6th grade, a friend told me that Where the Heart Is, was the best book she had ever read. I decided that I would get it to read on the plane ride on my way to Rhode Island. I was AMAZED at the quality of the work. It really kept me reading- and I finished it in about an hour or two, literally. I love the characters, the gentle humor it had, and how everything flowed along giving you your "reading senses" which are when you can relate to the problems and have emotions about the book. I am not quite 12 yet, and already I can enjoy a "grownup book" This is now my very favorite book in the whole world! When I was in 6th grade a friend told me to read this book. I did. I loved it. Keep up the great work Billie!

Summary: THROUGHLY ENTERTAINING
Review: This was an absolutely wonderful "feel good" book with many characters all of whom had their different and unique 'quirks' but shared their gift of life, love, hope and goodness in the same manner. Although there are some tragic and unfortunate things which happen in this book, the characters always seem to come out on top and share their experiences in a way that helps others. All of the characters, even Willie Jack, have redeeming qualities.

The interaction between the characters is splendid and the story is just marvelous. This is a must read. You will definately feel good after this one. I can't wait to read her second novel.

Summary: quirky and fun
Review: Through a band of unique characters, emotional struggles, and humorous anecdotes, Letts creates Novalee's world. This is a mostly light-hearted book for anyone looking for a good page-turner. Great beach reading! I recommend the movie as well.

Summary: A life affirming fairy tale
Review: My 15-year-old daughter loved this book and tossed it my way, challenging me to read it. I liked it too, especially Novalee Nation, the hapless heroine who brings out the best in the people she encounters. The book affirms all that is good in life, without ducking the reality that bad things happen to good people. I hope this book doesn't romanticize the reality of teen pregnancy so as to inspire young readers to look for hope in Walmart and the kindness of strangers. But it an endearing tale that exudes the humanity of people our society tends to dismiss and discard. Good read!

Summary: One of the Best I've Read!
Review: I found "Where the Heart Is" to be great summer reading! The characters in this book are real people, and it is easy to identify with them. While Novalee is definitely the best and main character in the book, I also like Lexie, although she has to overcome hardships, too. I also liked the way we see what happens to Novalee's ex-boyfriend, who seems to be the scum of the earth! And at the same time goes through Novalee's life. This is a great book. It's got something in it for everyone!

Summary: Let's Have More Books by Letts!
Review: This was without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. It's probably not a good read for a pessimist, but for the rest of us it is so inspiring. Ms. Letts did a beautiful job of crafting the characters, making them vulnerable, human & believable. Oprah sure can pick them. Now I can't wait to see the movie, and I sure hope there is a sequel to this book. I want to see how she can take these wonderful characters to another level. This was a quick read (too quick for my tastes); I wanted to continue, and felt like I had lost friends when I finished reading it. Please write a sequel, Ms. Letts!
