Summary: Cute and funny marbled with serious moments
Review: I read this book and it is tremendous! Everytime I ride by a Wal-Mart, I can't help but wonder if someone "lives" in there. This book grips you right from the beginning. A young, niave girl running away with a fellow she thinks loves her but finds out quick he doesn't when he takes off and leaves her in a town where she knows no one. The friendships she makes are priceless and the hard lessons she learns make her strong. She's so good natured that she's easy for the untrustworthy to take advantage of.....like her own mother. Yhis is a very good book and a wonderful story that I believe anyone would truely enjoy.

Summary: The best book I have read in a while!
Review: I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I am 16 and I love to read. I got this book just to get a book. I didn't actually think I would like it. Boy, was I wrong! I have laughed outloud. I have cried. I have wondered. If a book makes you do that then it must be five star. The characters are so fasinating. All with there own distinctive personality. All of them play a very important role in the book. It is a very easy book to read. I recemend it took anyone it is appropriate for.

Summary: An easy read with plenty of emotional punch
Review: The critics who ripped this book should remember that it really is targeting teenagers. Letts gives us a charming, fast-moving story that chronicles Novalee's transition from abandoned pregnant teen to happy, well-adjusted mother and community treasure. While the good seems a little too good (gifts of money, a rich boyfriend, photography awards) and the bad a little too harsh (kidnappings, beatings, rapes, natural disasters and deaths), this really is a story worth your time and attention.

Summary: I was able to put this book down and not pick it up!
Review: I bought this book because of all the hype I've heard about it. However, I was very disappointed. I didn't even finish it. The characters are underdeveloped and overly stereo-typed. The romance is this book was not developed, and as a result made it hard to relate to the characters. This book is too simplistic for any adult of average intelligence. The story and its characters are too suger-coated and unrealistic, therefore teaching nothing about real life. If you like supermarket paperbacks, then you will like this book. If you enjoy great pieces of literature, then save your money and buy something else.

Summary: don't be fooled by the horrible movie....this is a good book
Review: Everyone will take a piece of Novalee with them after they read this book. It makes you really look at your life and be thankful for what you have and also makes you think...about who you take for granted in your life, and that people do care about each other. Billie Letts does an awesome job. The book moves quickly, you could pick it up on Saturday and be done with it Sunday night......you won't be able to put it down.

Summary: Unexpected Ending!!
Review: When reading "Where the Heart Is" I had had a lot of friends tell me that it was the most romantic book and the best book they had ever read. So when choosing this book I had no troubles choosing a book. It was very unexpected to me that I would read it so fast I started on a Wendsday and finished on the Saturday afternoon of the same week. The book was quite long but it is so good it is quick. I think the names in the book were great like Americus I would never have thought of that name. Novalee has a fear of sevens which just happen to be my lucky number. But she deals with it, after a trauma with Americus in her seventh month of life, that involves two psycho baptising weirdos. I would definetly recomend this book to anyone who likes to read about evolution of characters in a book. This book has all the elements of a good book money, love, and teuth as the reader finds out in the end of the book, no give aways!!

Summary: Not great literature...
Review: This is not great literature. There are amateurish moments, especially in the first few chapters, and an annoying amount of "flashbacks" that eventually interfere with the experience more than they enhance it.

HOWEVER: none of the above matters much because this is wonderful story telling.

Summary: Billie knows where the Heart Is!
Review: We meet Novalee Nation, and immediately fall in love with her. You'll find yourself wanting/needing to know this wonderful girl. She's finds all the good interesting things in everyone she meets, a characteristic we would all love to own. Billie takes us through this girls amazing journey's. Including dealing with pregnancy in a Wal-Mart, being abandoned by the baby's father, having to trust stranger's to support you because everyone else in your life has left you. It's such a wonderful book, I would recommend it to anyone!

Summary: I Didn't Want it to End!
Review: If you have somehow missed this book, do yourself a favor and buy it immediately. I almost did not read it because I'd heard it was a little too pat and cute. I am now convinced that some people don't know how to enjoy a book or even what a book represents. Letts' novel is good reading and good writing. It makes you think about the quality of life. What makes a person happy? Does it take a large stock portfolio? A five bedroom house in the most fashionable suburb? A BMW in the driveway? The simple things, simple kindness between human beings...those are beyond monetary value. From the opening page we meet the charming young Novalee Nation with her "fears" of sevens. I have never been in her shoes but I came to know her and love her. We can all learn lessons from Novalee. Open your heart to yourself and others. It is only then we learn the true measure and meaning of "happiness".
