Summary: Great heartwarming novel
Review: I really enjoyed this novel because its content was very light and easy to read. Nova Lee's life was filled with many trials and tribulations yet it can be easily related to by many. Readers can find inspiration through this main character as they follow Nova Lee through the many twists and turns of her life. In one situation you will find yourself laughing out loud, and the next moment you will find yourself in tears because you're so caught up in the story. As a high school student, I really found this novel easy to relate to it kept my interest unlike some novels read in high school. The story of the journey of this young women really teaches the power of family and friendships. Billie Letts brings you in to a heartwarming novel of finding yourself through the story of this remarkable young woman.

Summary: Another Good Oprah Selection
Review: I decided recently that I would like to read all of the Oprah books, so I decided to start with this one. It was a wonderful book, it kept your attention all the way through. I loved how it kept going back to Willy Jack and his trials and tribulations after he dumped Novalee off at wal-Mart. I would recommend this book if you want a light, easy read.

Summary: Making the most out of what life gives you
Review: Novalee's life is one that is not easy. She is left by her boyfriend at a WAl-Mart in a small town in Oklahoma. All she has left is seven dollars and seventy seven cents. And what is worse is that she is 8 months pregnant, and all alone. Even though it couldn't get any worse than this, she makes the most of it. Her strong will and courage is shown from the beging. Nowadays teen mothers are giving birth in bathrooms and leaving there child in dumpstures. Novalee went throught thre enire birth , and kept the child. This is amazing. It is very difficult to raise a child on your own, let alone, and teenager, who does not even have her high school diploma and no job tot take care of. From a message from god she meets a wonderful stong woman, Sisiter Husband. She takes Novalle under her arms, not expecting anything from it, but the pure joy of knowing that she is helping people who are in great need. i think that the way that Billie Letts put Novalee Nation in the worst positions possible, and comes out succesful is inspiring. She makes ones life look like it can be managable, and if you pook your mind to it, no matter who you are your dreams can come true. It truely is an inspiring book for all young women.

Review: One of my ALL time favorite books. I loved this story. Here was a character who couldn't catch a break! From the moment she gets abandoned at the Walmart, you start pulling for her. It was a delight to watch her blossom throughout the story. I read this book almost two years ago, and I still smile whenever I think of it. I have recommended this book to countless people, even accosting people in the bookstore to get them to read it!

Summary: where the heart is found it's way into my heart
Review: I found this book to be quite captivating and very easy to read. Letts keeps you interested in the twists and turns and just when it needs a little pick up she sort of slams on the brakes and wakes you up again. It an excellent book for a senior or junior high school english class for those teachers out there, I would have loved to read something like this in high school. It's well thought out and taken to the heart when it was written. The author does a wonderful job of getting you to care about it's characters and gettting you to know them intimately. It's a sweet, almost frightening at the reality, book that I loved reading. I could barely put it down!!!

Summary: Home is where the heart is
Review: This book is a great novel. It is different from the movie so if you are reading the book in class I am warning you now. I am glad that we had this book on our reading list. (Junior in high school.) In this book you will do a lot of analiyzing and thinking. (You might want to think about geralizations and stereotypes.)

Summary: Inspiring Story of a teenager making the best of the worst.
Review: Where the Heart Is is a wonderful book full of triumphs and tragedies. This is the story of a teenage girl, Novalee who becomes pregnant by her boyfriend Willy Jack. Novalee and Billy go off and leave with not much money and a really crappy car. While on the road Novalee's shoes fell out of a hole in the floorboard onto the highway. Willy Jack gets angry but agrees to stop at a Wal-Mart up ahead to let Novalee go to the bathroom, and get some new shoes. Willy gives her ten dollars and waits in the car. To Novalee's surprise when she came back out he was gone. This is the story a Novalee Nation living in Wal-Mart, and actually having her baby at night inside Wal-Mart. The next day, much to her surprise, she woke up on the news, got many flowers and lots of money sent to her. She also meets a nurse who will help her out and will become her best friend. Novalee decides to name her new baby girl Americus. A good strong name. She was so overwhelmed, because Wal-Mart even offered her a job! She meets this very nice lady named "sister" who helps her out and even invites her to live in her own home. Sister and Novalee become great friends until one day during a tornado Sister dies. Later on Novalee comes to find out that Sister left her all of her money and land. Therefore Novalee could finally build her dream house. Meanwhile Novalee and the librarian Forney are starting to get serious. Forney loves novalee with all of his heart, but Novalle is not sure if she loves him. Americus just loves Forney to death, and after Novalee let Forney go away because she told him she didn't love him, she tracks him down to tell him how she really felt, and soon they got married. This book is just a great heart warming story, and really shows you not to give up, because good things are to come. I think that it was wonderfully written and I am sure any girl would love this heart-warming story of friendship, love, and the struggle of raising her own family in Oaklahoma.

Summary: Joy in Sequoiah, Oklahoma
Review: You know that you like to laugh, as well as feel sober and near tears. This is a book that should please. The well-thumbed trade paperback in our library continues to be checked out and praised. Even since the movie was released, folks still want to read the words of Billie Letts, a comic, heart-felt word crafter.

Such great names as Novalee and Americus Nation, Willy Jack Pickens, Sister Husband, Moses Whitecotton, make the reader want to see what this is all about. And Novalee's superstition over the number 7 adds to the folksie manner in which Letts develops her story. As to plot, a baby born in a Wal-Mart, why not?

In one episode, you find yourself laughing out loud, and in another there is suspense, sorrow, and a teary eye. Letts gives you the full experience in a book that can't be put down. Add these characters to your friends in print. And read The Honk And Holler Opening Soon, too. While not a sequel, exactly, it does depict another set of Sequoiah, Oklahomans who are a part of another good story.

Letts is a talented story teller. For a relaxing good read, try her books.

Summary: Words can't express how special this novel is
Review: A friend casually recommended this book to me, and i settled down with it, expecting some trite drama. By the time i had finished, I had cried three times, giggled profusely, gritted my teeth in anger towards Willie Jack, smiled at Novalees naivety and her wonderful new friends, and laid frozen, transfixed and fascinated as the story rolled out. If you loved Summer Sisters, you will adore this novel. Brilliant.
