Rating: Summary: I am loving it! Review: Even though I am only about 1/2 way through the book, I am LOVING IT SOOOO MUCH! It is very good I think. It is about a girl who is seventeen, seven months pregnant, thirty-seven pounds over weight, and, who's unlucky number is seven, is left at a Wal-Mart by her boy friend with $7.77 (Those sevens again!). So far, it is VERY good!
Rating: Summary: Can put this down! Review: Where the heart is an awesome book. This is one of the most heart touching books I have ever read. It is on of those books that you just can't put down! 17 year old girl Novelee Nation pregnant and all left all alone at Wal-Mart with $7.77. She was on her way to California with her boyfriend when he left her there on her own. She has her baby in the Wal-Mart after living in the Wal-Mart for awhile. Forney the town librarian helps Novelee get to the hospital when she is in labor. Novelee then becomes famous from living in the Wal-Mart. Novelee overcomes one obstacle after another, but she never gives up! This book is a very easy read. The whole family can enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: I could not stop thinking about this book after I finished Review: I loved this book. I just could not stop reading it. I woke up early one Saturday morning, picked it up, and cried and read until nearly 12 in the afternoon. I just love picking up a book and knowing that it will be thought provoking and compelling. Waiting in lines or for the bus became less painless when I had this great book to keep me entertained. The only downfall is...now I miss Novalee and Forney and the rest of the group. I felt like I was a part of the whole scene. It made me seek out another book immediately so I wouldn't feel the loss too much.
Rating: Summary: VERY VERY GOOD! Review: This book is so good-- better then the movie--- read it!
Rating: Summary: There is heart in this book Review: I only spent 10 minutes in the bookstore when this book jumped off the shevles at me. As soon as I got home I began to read it, and couldn't put it down. It was an easy read- flowed well. I could feel the characters pains and triumphs. Bad things happen to good people, but the main character, Novalee, made the best of every situation. In the end, she gets hers. Beautifully written and inspiring. The title says it all.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully written, makes you really think. Review: Some would say that this book is bad and characters are under-developed. I heartily DISAGREE, you get to know the characters and their personalities. This book is full of surprises. It's filled with love and disgust. Viewed from 2 perspectives. In the end you realize there's something more to life. Great book. Highly reccommended for any age reader. The people who gave bad reviews probably just skimmed through it or have some moral issues. But if you're open to understanding, give it a shot, you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't get through it Review: Someone loaned me this book -- I would not have bought it on my own or even heard about it, since I'm not an Oprah watcher and mystery is my genre of choice. I gave this book 2 stars, even though I didn't finish it, because the characters are memorable -- I just grew weary of reading about their depressing lives. Later, I ran across the movie on TV -- in progress -- and I watched it to find out what happened in the end. I liked the music in the movie very much. I guess you could say that I was just not impressed.
Rating: Summary: Very good book Review: This book was recently made into a movie starring Natalie Portman. The first time I saw the movie I thought it was good if not a little cheesy. I saw it again and realized under the cheese it was really great. I happened upon the book at a library book sale and decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. First of all, the movie, although changing a few details here and there, was very true to the book, even down to exact sections of dialogue. But the book went even further and expanded Novalee's life and the lives of those around her. It's been taking me a while to get through books these days, but I just sped through this one; I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Alright, movie better though! Review: It was a nice book, but it kinda went nowhere. The movie though is very good, skip the book and watch the movie.
Rating: Summary: A Real Feel Good Book... Review: Positively one of the best books I've ever read...no wonder it was made into a movie! I simply cannot fathom why some folks didn't like it...I hung on every word! It was a "can't put down" book for me, I read it in one day. Do yourself a big favor and read it...that is if you like feeling there is some hope for goodness in this day and time.
