Rating: Summary: Hang in there; a great story that takes a little time to get Review: Definately worth the read; it takes a little time to get into the story and also at times you will wonder where the author is going but it is a terrific book.
Rating: Summary: i love this book! Review: I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very offbeat and lighthearted. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, fun read.
Rating: Summary: Totally entertaining !! Review: I read this book before Oprah and I loved it !! I was hooked by the first sentence. A must read --
Rating: Summary: The Philosophy of Life Review: I enjoyed this book considerably. I engulfed myself in each character and came away with the philosophical understanding that each of us have new beginnings every day. It is what we do with our 'new beginnings', or our own personal historical data base that determines the goodness or the badness of the world around us; what goes around, comes around.
Rating: Summary: Reads easy, it's captivating and evokes many emotions. Review: When you begin this book make sure you have enough time to finish it. It gets and keeps your attention from the first page. The characters are alive and all relevant to the story line. The only problem with it is - it ends.
Rating: Summary: A touching work, couldn't put it down! Review: Quite by accident, I met the author of this book as she was leaving a reading at a local bookstore. I was so impressed by her that I bought the book with no idea of the content. She autographed it and was whisked away to leave me wrapped up in this book. I started reading that night and didn't stop until I finished! It was, at once, so very real yet magical; sad, yet the most joyfully triumphant book I have read in a long while. Let this book take you away, you will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Easy to read...fast moving...almost unbelievable Review: I think Novalee was next to a saint. Does anyone really have that much bad luck? She just pretended everything was okay and kept going foreward. Is it ignorance that causes this?
Rating: Summary: Southern to the bone! Review: My sister in Savannah gave this book to me a year ago and I read it on a plane back to San Francisco. It made me think of old friends and lucky breaks. It made me laugh and made me cry. What a book. Fannie Flagg lovers will like it.
Rating: Summary: The book speaks for itself. Review: An economic cop out. "Where the Heart Is" gave up any chance for lasting impressions on society when it traded thought for readers. It becomes evidence for proof of Marxism as philosophy and feeling fall victim to money. I was disapointed.
Rating: Summary: You will fall in love with this book! Review: A teenage pregnant girl abandonded in a Walmart in rural Oklahoma. It could happen! As a fellow Oklahoman I always worry with an opening like this but I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the characters and thought the author wrote a very believable and wonderfully entertaining book. Even her naming one of the characters Ruth Meyers was a hoot because Ruth Meyers is the name of one of the most exclusive women's stores in Oklahoma! The only problem with the book is that now I miss Novalee, Americus and all the rest. They are close to my heart and I want to know what is happening to them now. I can only hope the author writes a sequel! I'll read anything she writes. Very southern, lovely conversational writing style. I am giving it as a Christmas present to several close friends.
