Rating: Summary: where the heart is Review: ..The book I read is called where the heart is. Billie Letts wrote it. The book is basically about a seventeen-year-old girl that got pregnant by her boyfriend. After he found out that she was going to have a baby they both decided to move to California where they both could live a better life and take care of the baby. When they were leaving that day her boyfriend was acing weird, he was treating her bad. So she told him she had to stop at Wal-Mart to get some sandals because her feet hurt. As she went inside to get her sandals, paid for it and came outside he was gone. She couldn't see her boyfriend. She began to cry. All she knew was she had no one go to and she was broke the only money she had was $7.77. She tried calling her boyfriend's brother in California to see if he could do something but she couldn't get a hold of him. If I was suppose to rate this book from 1-10, I'd rate it 7, because it's a really good book to read. It's one of those books that you can't wait to see that happens next, you have to keep on reading to see what happens. Another reason is because it's kind of relates to today, some guy would just get a girl pregnant, just leave her and not help her take care of the baby. But otherwise it's a really good book and I recommend it to other people.
Rating: Summary: Where The Heart Is Review: This book is great for those who have trubble reading. It is very easy to understand. I think this store hits home for a lot of unwed teenage mothers whos babys fathers have left them, with very little to go on. He is a 17 year old pregant teenager who is been droped off at a Wal-Mart with little to nothing but her slef. Determinded to make it she lived in the wal-mart for two months meeting different people. Like Sister Husban who is a very nice lady and offerd to take her in when she has no where else to go. Then theres Forney who thinks the world of her, but she feels that she is not good enough for him. Along the way she finds some prombles like her baby being sick Then a tronoda hits and leaves things a wrek until Sister Husban lives somthing to Novele that puts things back together again for a while then as if things could not get worse her friend Lexi's kids were sexually alsaulted and having to live through all of it...Over all it was a great book and I am now reading it again. Its a great book for evryone of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Hello Ms.Corey :) Review: I do not think that where the heart is an interesting book. It is like all the American movies. It was also so unreal. Lots of people helps the main character whose name is Novallee. And it was really impossible to survive in this way. ý liked that her unlucky nummber is 7 because it is my unlucy number too. What I have learned from this book is: "We should not trust boys." This book would be a better book for an American teenager to read.
Rating: Summary: BORING! Review: "Where the Heart Is" was not a great book. I didn't like it very much for a number of reasons. The thing that bugged me more than anything else was the language. Whenever the character Willy Jack was involved, there was an unreasonable amount of vulgarity. A close second were the character descriptions. Billie Letts did a wonderful job describing the scenery, but she tended to forget about the characters. She only described characters when speaking about their deformities. When I read a book, I like to be able to picture the characters. As far as hair, eye color, and skin tone are concerned, there was very little description. When she did describe them, she did it without motivation. Altogether, the book was very boring.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie, Great Book! Review: I loved the movie so much that I bought the book to relive it slowly. It is a VERY moving book about a teen girl trying to grow up and be responsible in a rough world. Novalee was abandoned by her boyfriend at a Walmart while she was pregnant and she was forced to put her life back together. Novalee's simple conduct is inspirational because her small and simple ways are incredibly powerful in her community. She is an ordinary person who makes extraordinary results in her life by simply being herself. Even though I knew the story already, I was still completely in love with this book. I cried at the end as if I never knew the story. I will probably read it again someday when I forget the plot a little. It is just a relaxing, enchanting, lovely story that I believe was especially written for a female audience. Go see the movie too!
Rating: Summary: Wow, 800 reviews Review: Again, 800 reviews, well, I'll just enforce that this was, indeed a good book. Amazing story & good movie too.
Rating: Summary: This is uplifting Review: This book is definitely better than the movie. It was quite pleasant to read about good old fashion kindness in a modern world. The story is one where the good-guys emerge winners, but how they get there is truly amazing. It is a tale full of hope and inspiration especially for those of us who feel, that too often in life today-there is no way out.
Rating: Summary: An amazing account of the hardships of life Review: The novel Where the Heart is by Billie Letts will take you through life with Novaliee Nation. The book begins with her pregnant and on a road trip, just when it doesn't look like thinkgs can get worse they do. She is stranded alone at a Wal-Mart after her boyfriend and father of her baby leaves her. The story follows Novaliee through her pregnancy and throughout her childs life. This novel is a real page turner. You won't want to put it down. Novaliee has a huge amount of perservirence that never shuts down. To make this read more enjoyable, wait to see the movie after you read this incredible book.
Rating: Summary: Delightful Light Read Review: This book reads quickly and is a delightful tale that is much better than the movie. I found it to be a very light read but still heart-warming and endearing. The fluid style of writing contributes to the ease of how this reads (a great job by the author.) This is perfect for in between those more brain-taxing heavy 500+ page books, or great for summer vacation. Do add this to your list!
Rating: Summary: If you want to read something that is not challenging... Review: If you are out for a book that takes little brain power and is a quick read, you may find this enjoyable. This book is has a very simplitic writing style and reads at about an 8th grade level. On the other hand, if you are looking for something that actually makes you think and reflect on society, don't waste your time on this one.
