Rating: Summary: Absolutely one of the best books I have ever read!!! Review: Billie Letts is an excellent author. She has a way of letting you know exactly what is going on without spelling it out for you. I was constantly reading "between the lines" throughout the entire book. The story of Novalee made me angry, made me laugh and made me cry. It is truly an amazing, and unforgettable book.
Rating: Summary: Terrific-read it in a day!!! Review: What a great story line and a believable bunch of characters woven in such a delightful way!Billie does such a great delivery of events in this little saga! A feel good book if I've ever read one!

Rating: Summary: This book was excellent!!! Review: Hi. My name is Tiffany and I am in the process of reading this book right now. I almost done. This book contains comedy, love, tragedy and about every other feeling. Once I pick up this book, I don't want to put it down. I think Miss Novalee Nation had many people who care for her and her daughter Americus. So far the book is about a girl named Novalee who gets left by her boyfriend Willy Jack at a Wal- Mart, Seven is her unlucky number and sher is left with 7.77, and seven months pregnant, Well she makes a home at Wal-Mart, and meets many realy nice people who help her to make a living. Then she gives birth to her baby in the wal-Mart.After that she moves in with a woman named Sister Husband, and she takes care of her. At the part I am at now, they just got over a tornado, and many people were killed, including Sister Husband. Then afer all that is over they find out that Novalee wins the Kodak picture contest, and she gets to go to New Mexico for a banquet.
Rating: Summary: I TRULY LOVED THIS BOOK. Review: THE BOOK IS A FAST READ. IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN. EXECELLENT CHOICE OPRAH. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW ANY ONE COULD RATE THIS BOOK BELOW 4 STARS.
Rating: Summary: This book was great! Review: I'm not an avid reader, but I do like to read when I get the chance. The main reason I bought this book is because I was born and raised in Oklahoma and I always try to support my home state anyway possible. I got the book on a Friday evening and was finished reading it by Saturday afternoon. I loved this book. I found myself laughing, crying, and cheering. I definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I can't wait to read it again. Thank you Billie Letts for such an inspirational book.
Rating: Summary: This is a true depiction of overall America. Review: This is a amazing story. It is a simple read, but Billie Letts has written it perfectly. It touches at the heart of real America. She doesn't cover up the horror, but takes us through it to the other side, and helps us understand those feelings. Ms. Letts has a way of discribing something that you feel you are right there. The discription of Lettie's children in the Walmart, contently eating stuff, and the way the acted, and how they looked was wonderful. You just wanted to scoop them all up! I laughed and I cried. That is what makes a perfect book. One that makes you feel, and this one truely does.
Rating: Summary: This book is profoundly writen to take your heart away. Review: This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I love it how Billie Letts uses discriptive and unforgetable detail. This is well written!!
Rating: Summary: Uplifts the human spirit!!! Review: Billie Letts writes an account of human endurance and our spirits' ability to triumph despite terrible circumstance. Novalee Nation is an inspiring character who teaches us the power to overcome and not be weakened by a "victim-mentality". An incredible read!
Rating: Summary: A soap opera for teenagers Review: I think that with this book, Oprah has reduced her book choices to the lowest common denominator. The novel is at best an instructive read for a 14 or 15 year old girl because it contains straightforward, canned lessons on the dangers of teenage pregnancy and the importance of building self-esteem as an independent woman of character and substance. As a literary work, however, it is predictable, with rather flat sterotypical characters, and simplistic expressions of what could be complicated themes. It is an insult to the intelligence of most mature adults. Over all, it is a huge disappointment.
