Rating: Summary: Hooked from the firs Review: I happened to read this book before it got on Oprah's book list, and enjoyed every page of it. I was very happy when it was chosen by Oprah for her list. I have since passed it on to friends at work and it is still being passed around. I laughed out loud and cried throughout the entire book. Truly an enjoyable and inspirational story...
Rating: Summary: Heartfelt and Touching Review of Friends Review: Where the Heart Is was an amazing protrayal of how life hands you a mixture of truely memorable occurences, some of which you wish weren't so memorable. Letts allows you to reach into Novalees mind and spirit and actually feel her pain and joy. I was overwhelmed at how attached I became to her character. After finishing the book, I see now how Novalee was uniquely drawn to each of her acquaintences. Each individual represented a different struggle if you will throughout her existence in the book. I feel like Novalee was not only a big hearted person but also desperate for the needed attention and love. I really related to with Novalee's love for Photography and capturing that once in a lifetime moment. Photography has always been a passion of mine and after finishing the book I have been inspired to pursue my dream! Fantastic Beginning, Middle and End! Way to go Letts!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Wonderful Review: It was warm, funny and sad. It made you read until the story ended. (8 hours) I couldn't put the book down. It was by far the best I have read from Oprah's list of books to read.
Rating: Summary: Riviting, and a book that was neve Review: This book, centered around Novalee Nation, was compassionate and gave me a different outlook on things but also something to meditate on. I asked my friend to read it so we could discuss it. I read it in one sitting until 2 in the morning. It was just the perfect combination of motherly love, friendship, and the power of the heart.
Rating: Summary: Great Read During Downtime Review: This is a very well written novel that allows the reader to read the story at an easy pace. Novalee has been through so much herself, not to mention her family, friends and foes. Sometimes I had to lay the book down, but I was always glad I picked it back up to continue the saga. I enjoyed all the different personalities of all of the characters. This book traveled with me in my purse and was a great outlet during downtime.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read! Review: Santa sure knew a good thing when he put this book in my stocking! This was a wonderful story that would lift you up if you were feeling down. It is a story that should inspire many single mothers and those people who would like to connect with a 'new' family. Billie Letts surely didn't 'let' us down with this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I wonder what happens to Americus when she grows up? Perhaps she would be the first female president of the United States!
Rating: Summary: This book captured MY heart! Review: Novalee Nation captured my interest and then captured my heart! I felt like I was there when she was deserted at Wal-Mart and I loved meeting all of the generous and fascinating people she encountered there. This story has it all: comedy, drama, love, horror, and suspense. I did not want it to end. Also recommended: Any of Oprah's picks!
Rating: Summary: I can't stop thinking about this book Review: I'M TELLING ALL MY FRIENDS ABOUT THIS BOOK. IT'S SO REFRESHING!!
