Summary: Whipped um again, Wade..
Review: After reading this book by Wade Cook, I finally got the sense and know-how to roll over an old tax sheltered annunity into a self-directed IRA. Using Cook's ideas, I banked $4,450 in option premiums on $52,888 of covered calls in the first day after the money was transferred. That is a 9% rate for one month's obligations. At this rate which is 109% for the year, I could equal my 6 years of contributions, Texas' contributions, and the 19 years of interest of the annuity company in a single year! When this is combined with the past month's money in the bank from the ideas learned in the book, it is safe to paraphrase the famous line from the movie the Outlaw Josey Wales and to say that we whipped um again, Wade! I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of Stock Market Miracles and Rolling Stocks (Gregory Witt) from Amazon as I continue to empower myself to control my own financial future with the challenging ideas fostered by this book. Anyone who reads this book and thinks creatively can do the same thing.

Summary: Clear insight into how to make money in the market!
Review: In this book, Wade Cook challenges the reader to think in new ways about investing and presents clear examples to show you how dynamic parts of the market work. This book is worth the price simply for his two ideas (1) of stop thinking in terms of yearly interest and (2) of doing "meter drops". These ideas combined with others in the book allowed me to make over $7,000 in my $18,500 account in the first two weeks of applying his techniques. Let me be clear on this--this was not money made on paper; this is real cash-flow dollars into my account! While Cook's style is not always the most scholarly, his ideas are clear and go right to the heart of how to think creatively about investing. Others complain vigorously about his constant self-promotion. A critical reader can get above this and focus on the ideas. If you are willing to think and take some risks, this book can show you how to make money--BIG money!

Summary: Read & Grow rich with Wade's strategies
Review: I made $5,000 in four days using the options on stock splits strategy on just one stock play! I am excited! Thanks WADE!

Summary: Hype
Review: Unfortunately I wasn't an experienced trader when I read Wade's book and attended on of his seminars. It is very dangerous for a novice trader to use his techniques without any practical knowledge of how the market works. After a couple of years of utter frustration, I was forced to settle down and read about what the stock market is really about. I thank Wade for introducing me to the market and there were select periods of time when his techniques worked very well, but if you are a novice trader please step back and understand market dynamics before you go wild playing options. For instance, not all stocks go up on a split announcement. And don't believe that you can double your money every six months in the stock market. This is utter fantasy. In order for this to happen you would have to experience a perenial bull market. Anyway, if you are not an active trader, don't go crazy buying options. It is best to start out buying stocks and watch how they are affected by market dynamics. Once you understand market dynamics, you will have a better idea as to when option strategies are most profitable. I hope this helps someone.

Summary: This book can be dangerously misleading to unsavy traders.
Review: I read this book because it was recommended to me by another trader. I have almost 10 years of experience trading and have in the past utilized many of the techniques talked about by Mr. Wade. His strategies are highly risky and not what I would consider to be responsible investing. He really never delves into the downsides to his investing such as getting stuck in unwanted positions with large losses or getting very desirable stocks called from you while leaving the dogs running in your account (which is exactly what happened to my account when I used to trade in the manner he suggests). Some people will get lucky with his techniques, but I never found his methods to consistently win over time. I have found other methods that absolutely blow away his techniques, such as daytrading. A better book for investors who really want to benefit off of investing would be William Engs "Trading Rules", or "How to Make Money in Stocks" by William Oneil, or the Motley Fool Investing books.

Summary: Full of Hype
Review: Investing isn't as easy as Wade makes it seem. Any fool can make money in a bull market, but one's that lose money in bull markets are IDIOTS! If Wade Cook was so smart, and if his workshops are so great, why is his company still losing money?? Wade only wants to get PAID even if it means losing his students' money!

Summary: Entertaining, but unrealistic
Review: This book contains many so-called "new" and "exciting" strategies. However, these "strategies" have been around longer than Cook has been alive! I have to admit that this was one of the first books I read years back before I started investing. It got me hyped up about investing and trading. However, when the smoke cleared, I realized that trading was much more difficult than Wade made it out to be. I'll admit that I did make money investing after reading his book. HOWEVER, I believe that the reason I made money was 99.9% luck and 0.1% strategy. This book is entertaining, but it's also much too misleading. Do not just take your money and start trading in stocks expecting to get rich overnight by employing Wade's "strategies". Read some quality books about investing like "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham, or even the "Motley Fool Investment Guide". If you want to learn to day trade, purchase books like "The Compleat Daytrader" by Jake Bernstein, or books on technical analysis like "Technical Analysis Explained" by Martin Pring. And by no means should you spend $1000's on Cook's "workshop"! Good Luck!

Summary: Read and get excited, but do one more thing...
Review: Do get this book as a start. It gives a great down-to-earth and exciting INTRO to option trading, and if you're a beginner, you'll want to quickly jump into the game with both feet. But wait! It IS an INTRO, and Cook mars his presentation with strong ads for his own products and seminars. Before you put your life savings into his merchandise and the options market, get your feet back on the ground and get a copy of Options as a Strategic Investment, by Lawrence McMillan. It's a calm, well-organized, no-nonsense education on option strategies, which includes plenty of follow-up action, what-if situations, equivalent positions, and a lot more that Cook lacks. Spend $35 on McMillan's book to get smarter, and then decide whether you still want to invest over $2000 in whatever else Cook sells even before you get to buy your first option or share of stock. Take it from one who tried Cook's strategies without buying his expensive seminar nor his stock-tip service, and lost thousands, and then quickly made it all back, and much, much more, after reading just half of McMillan!

Summary: FANTASTIC BOOK, I LEARNED A MASSIVE AMOUNT .
Review: THERE IS LOTS TO LEARN IN THIS BOOK. I LOVE THIS BOOK. WADE COOK IS GREAT AT EXPLAINING THESE CASH FLOW FORMULAS. I HAVE MADE LOTS AT THE MARKET WITH THE INFORMATION I LEARNED. BUY THE BOOK, READ IT, AND SEE FOR YOUR SELF. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. IT CHANGED MINE, THANKS MR. COOK.

Summary: Good in spite of all of the hype
Review: This is the book that introduced me to the option game over four years ago. There are some good ideas here. Wade provides strong coverage of the basics in an easy to understand format.

What bothers me about all of Wade's materials is the tremendous amount of hype you have to wade through (no pun intended) to get to the real meat. The material is good, but his obvious attempts to hype readers into buying his overpriced seminars and materials is truly nauseating.

Remember that trading options is a "zero sum game". Like a poker game, there is an equal number of winners and losers. It isn't an easy get rich quick scheme. If you would like a slightly more complex book with out all of the hype, I would recommend The Option Advisor by Bernie Schaeffer.
