Rating: Summary: Exciting Cash Flow Stretegies Review: Wade Cook may have an unusual past as a cab driver turned investment strategy advisor but his techniques bring to light ways to increase your monthly cash flow in the stock market. While his strategies can be used as a sole method of accumulating wealth such as rolling stock, writing covered calls, stock splits and naked options, most people will use this information as a starting point to further education in one facet of their investment portfolio. Personally, I have used two of his strategies successfully and continue to follow his methods. The book reads very well and easy to understand even for the novice. If not for the recurring advertising for his other products in the book, I would give it a 10. It definitely prompted me to read his next book called "Stock Market Miracles"
Rating: Summary: Good book, but too many commercials. Review: The book held my interest very well, and stimulated my interest enough that I've jumped in the world of options. If you're new to investing, though, there's a lot of basics skimmed past or left out altogether. If I'd read this book five years ago I would have been lost.
The most annoying part of the book is Cook's endless pitching of his seminars and other services. You'll become very familiar with his 800 number.
There's also inadequate recognition of the down side to his methods, and possibility of losing money. If his methods were as consistently effective as his examples, Mr. Cook would control all the wealth on Earth today.
I don't mean to be too negative - much of the book actually makes investing exciting. Just take it with a grain of salt.
Rating: Summary: This Book is Worth the Investement! Review: This book is definately worth the investement (no pun intended!). Although the book is not for the beginner, but rather, someone who has been in the market, or is in the market today, and understands some of the basic concepts to stock investing. The strategies Wade Cook outlined in the book work. I made money following these strategies on my first 4 transactions. I would venture to say that this won't always be the case, but they do work. Also, I don't think Wade does a good job of articulating the risks involved with his strategies while he spends alot of time hyping the returns. Just remind yourself of the basic rules of investing... higher returns means higher risk. However, the book is excellent and I have recommended it to a few friends already
Rating: Summary: Inspiring, But Do More Reading Review: I was so inspired that I tried my hand at options and made$1500 (a 45% return on investment) in just 8 days on my firsttrade--solely on information gleaned from WSMM. It's a good primer for a more active approach to investing and I'm glad that the book is able to make the material so accessible. In fact, I was tempted to give it a 9, but Cook's plugging for his workshops and on-line service are so blatant and repetitive that I found myself becomming increasingly annoyed and distracted. Since then I've been reading "Getting Started in Options" by Thomsett--it's very clear, well-written and much more thorough than WSMM's treatment of options trading and strategies. Basically, WSMM is a great book to get started with, it's exciting and inspiring--use it as a starting point for more reading and research.
Rating: Summary: Good strategies, but not for the inexperienced trader Review: Cook's WSMM has many good strategies, however they are forexperienced traders. Those who have no experience or knowledge ofeconomics, supply and demand, interest rates, and stocks and options trading should first read fundamental books and do a lot of research.
Rating: Summary: I actually made money in my very first option trades Review: I read the entire book in 3 days. Before reading this book, I had never traded options. The confidence Iachieved by reading this book led me to do my first trade and I actually made 200% on my first 3 option trades.
Rating: Summary: Interesting strategies, but not for beginners Review: Wade wrote his book in plain language as if he was talking to you. I do not think this book is really an introduction to stock investment where you would learn how to buy and sell stocks. You should have the basic understanding on stock trading before reading his book.
I do like his strategies on rolling stocks, writing cover calls and trading options. It sparks your inspiration and open your mind on how to increase the return of your investment money. Don't think, however, reading his book will make you an expert in these practises.
The claims through out the book where you can have something like 3,000% annual return seems overly optimistic. These profit figures were based on some perhaps 20% gain in one day then annualized. Who can make a 20% gain in one day consistently everyday of his/her life? The book also did not talk much about the down side of stock trading. Yes you can place stop orders to limit your losses. If every other trade you placed ends up being sold with a stop-loss order, how will you get a 3,000% annual return and become a millionaire in a few years?
In his book, he promoted his $3,000+ seminar and subsription to the W.I.N. network to turn you into a high-rolling trader. I don't know how you think. But if I were to take his seminar, I would need to "lose" $3,000 first from my principal before I can use it to gain any money in the stock market. Is this really "tripping over pennies on the way to a dollar?"
Read the book if you are already familiar with stock and option trading. If you are a beginner just getting started, you may be better off with Peter Lynch's "One Up on Wall Street" and others to get more experiences before adopting Wade's strategies.
Rating: Summary: Do your homework before using any strategies Review: This book has some good ideas but anybody about to invest should temper these ideas with plenty of other viewpoints(fundamental and technical) before putting their hard-earned money into any stocks or options. Wade is very enthusiastic about his methods but hardly emphasizes that loss is a very real possibility in the stock market, especially when options are involved. Test his strategies on paper before you invest, get as many other viewpoints as you can, and you might become successful. I can also do without Wade's shameless(or is the word "tasteless"?) plugs in the book for his $4000+ Wall Street Workshop that claim to turn you into a "market whiz" in two days
Rating: Summary: Ah-ha! So that's how it is done! Review: Did you ever have one of those ah-ha moments when all of a sudden it made sense? That's how I felt after reading Wade Cook's book, WALL STREET MONEY MACHINE. If you are in the stock market you must hear what Mr. Cook has to say. This is a "don't be greedy, make a buck when you can and limit your losses" type of an approach to investing. The neat thing about it - is - it works! Have you ever bought a stock "for the long turn" to find that it sits there for months or years with no movement? Mr. Cook shows you ways to generate income off of that type of senerio. Thanks Wade for opening the door and showing me the light switch. I'm on my way to living up to my net name. (MILLBY2000@Prodigy.net
Rating: Summary: They should be teaching us this stuff in school! Review: This book teaches investements strategies that anyone can use, but I doubt many know about. My only complaint was that some of the examples were a bit "pumped up". That aside, I was making money 30 days after I read it. If you have never invested before, this book is a great place to start
