Summary: Jaded, tired ,boring.
Review: After this I don't care if I never read another book on serial killers. So predictable and the dialogue between the heroine and the male cops was almost embarrassingly bad. Can't think of anything good to say about this other than her interesting choice on locale. I for one will not be reading any more of this authors efforts.

Summary: sophomoric
Review: if the excerpt provided is indicative of the rest of the book ( and I can't imagine how it would otherwise be), save your time and money for something more worth while.

Summary: Kay Scarpetta meets Kinsey Malone
Review: A great crime novel! Finally, this is a book that stands up to the comparison with Patricia Cornwell's work. Although the dialogues are sometimes a bit flat, Tempe Brennan combines Kay Scarpetta's professional know-how and Kinsey Malone's (of the Sue Grafton series) bouncy sarcasm. The Quebec setting is also a refreshing change. Can't wait to read the next one!

Summary: Finally, a book that kept me up all night!!!!
Review: This is a book that anyone who likes suspense should read. It kept me up all night, I just wanted to see how it ended. Yes, there was a lot of French translation and the description of Montreal was a bit vivid, but to someone unfamiliar with both it wasn't a bother to read about. Actually, it made the story more real and gave the reader a chance to get "into" the story. Give it a try, if you like suspense and mystery then I guarantee you'll be pleased.

Summary: best book ever! and all the murders really happened!!
Review: anyone who DIDN'T like this book is hiding their head in the sand! their afraid to admit that these murders really did happen. yes, they did! this book is based on real life crimes woven into a story of one seriel killer. a life dedicated to forensic anthropology gives kathy reichs all the expertise needed to write a superb story. something p.cornwall lacks!

Summary: the book is not big enough ! EXCELLENT
Review: Hi, As a fan of Dr. Scarpetta, I discovered one week ago this book "Déjà Dead", and thought it could be something great to read. I would say "Perfect" ... I have to go, sorry .... have to read the 20 last pages ! How many days before a new one ?

Summary: plodding and tiresome
Review: After all the hype surrounding this book, I was very thankful that I managed to find a relatively new copy at the library. After reading 100 tedious pages I'm happy that I never bought it. I agree with the others who found the story tedious and dull. Patricia Cornwell has nothing to worry about, this story has none of the elements that make her stories good. The characters in this book are annoying and flat. Most offensive is the insipid dialogue between Dr. Brennan and the police, who are mercilessly stereotyped. For someone who reads and understands french, the constant translation of terms is tiresome. The descriptions of Montreal belong in a travel brochure, not in a crime novel. This book has serious weaknessess and I'm surprised that so many people seem to consider it worth five stars.

Summary: This book converted me into a mystery reader.
Review: I found Dr. Reichs writing very witty, erudite without the slightest hint of pretention, technically knowledgeable yet accessible. Though I usually find meticulous description tedious, I mostly enjoyed it as executed by Dr. Reichs. I truly could not put this book down and I can't wait for her next, which is due in May 1999.

Summary: MORE, PLEASE!
Review: I picked up this book-on-tape because I travel a lot (and need distraction from driving) and because I thought it sounded like a novel by Patricia Cornwell (who I really like). 10 minutes after starting the tape, I knew this put anything I've read before to shame. The writing is much more in-your-face and dramatic than any of the Scarpetta books.
