Summary: Great character, with marvelous techno details!
Review: A great book, with a nicely developed herione, who has a knack for getting into her work. I truly enjoyed the technologic aspect of her work as a forensic anthropologist. Nice background work incorporating the geography and demographics of the region. Will look forward to more works from this author.

Summary: Great detail, better character than Cornwell's
Review: I was very impressed with Reichs' first novel. Great details, some of it a little hard to follow, but VERY interesting. What can she do for a encore? I felt the story was rich. You can really see the characters move and interact on the "stage". Sometimes, with Cornwell, I have a picture of only disembodied voices with really no "set" to put them in. Great suspense, you will not be able to put it down during the last hundred pages.

Summary: Who-dunnits, a literate one is a special pleasure.
Review: Reichs background makes this 'thriller' worth reading. Not only was it the great escape into this special reality , the forensic data was excellent. She treats us like a literate audience. Hooray for Reichs and her readers. I returned to another author in this genre and put the book down before the end of the first chapter. Keep them coming, Kathy!

Summary: Similar to Patricia Cornwell's work but better.
Review: I really enjoyed this book.I like this author's writing style, especially, her description of Montreal. The only thing that bothered me about this story is the character,Gabby. I feel that Gabby could have been left out. I can't wait to read Reich's next book.

Summary: Good...Could Have Been Better
Review: Kirkus Reviews gave a definitive review for this book that says it all. A good story that needed to be pared down.

Summary: Gory but Good
Review: I have not read Patricia Cornwell and I don't normally read this genre so I can only evaluate this book on its merits. Sure this book has some flaws but this is a first novel. Sure, there is gore, but only in the beginning chapters of the book, when the reader is allowed into the world of the forensic anthropologist. The description of maggots and a putrid corpse is awful, but we need to realize what we're asking others to do in the name of solving crimes. Let's not mince words here--the stench, the maggots, the ooze--all this is a real part of it and to not speak of it is wrong. This description, as awful as it is, makes the motivation behind Dr. Tempe Brannon's obsessive search for the killer more understandable. She has the unenviable job of cleaning up the mess and she wants to get at its source. I found this book to be a page-turner that carried me through from the beginning to the end.

Summary: An excellent mystery that holds your interest.
Review: This is an excellent mystery that captures your interest. It is a combination of "Who Dunnit" with a little Steven King style fright. A definite summer read to keep you cool.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Corwellesque but better with more technology
Review: Even though I doubt the author would appreaciate the comparison, this involves an ME that goes to work in Montreal, which adds a different flavor to the whole proceedings. I find the lead charecter more interesting and real than in Cornwells books. I look foreward for the next one.

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: I really enjoy reading murder-mystery type books and this one certainly fulfilled my desire for exciting ones! The only thing that bothered my about it was that I had just finished reading a Patricia Cornwell mystery that had a very similiar story line. Even so, this is one of the most well-written mysteries I have ever read. I couldn't put it down!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great!! Can't wait for her next one!
Review: This is the kind of book that makes you hurry home from work so you can get back into it. The author is very knowlegable, and quite graphic in her descriptions of procedure. I loved this book. Kathy Reichs is right up there with Patricia Cornwell. I hope somebody emails me if they know when her next book is released. Bravo!
