Rating: Summary: Master storyteller's masterpiece Review: Ludlum surpasses not only himself but all other spy thriller writers for all times to come. I started in 1977 with Scarlatti Inheritance and have ever since been hooked to Ludlum. But Bourne Identity exploded on me like no other book or experience I had. It is more than a spy story or about a person called Bourne trying to fight tremendous odds with a total memory loss with bursts of memory flashes of the violent past with layers of different personalities. It is about human mind itself discovering its way using the ultimate training of the past to protect it and achieve the objective imprinted in the psyche. The events will linger forever in the mind and you will be hungry to read another book which can match this book. Yes! Read it ,Enjoy it and be haunted by it.
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly good Review: I had never read any Ludlum before, nor am i a great fan of Spy novels. I have to say, i am converted! This book was a great travel companion and even gave me something to wake up for in the morning! Gripping and hard to put down. You do start to image spys everywhere you go though!
Rating: Summary: The greatest spy thriller I have every read! Review: Robert Ludlum is a master story-teller! His writing is superb! One thing to note, whenever you begin one of his lengthy books you need to devote enough time for 50 pages in the first sitting just to get to know all the characters. It is well worth your time to do so. This book is probably the BEST spy thiller I have ever read. The main character, Jason Bourne, is a character you learn to really care about. Not all writers are capable fo creating that feeling with their writing. Ludlum is a master. Though this book is part of a three part series, this book DOES stand well on it's own. I have read all three -- I highly recommend this -- and now all three have a cherised spot on my bookshelf. Good enough to read more than once in a lifetime!
Rating: Summary: Exciting story Review: Ludlum is one of the best at creating the super spy and writing action sequences. Sometimes he can create a spy story to back them up. This one is pretty good throughout. He isn't that good with the emotional development of his characters or writing love stories (but he isn't nearly as bad as Tom Clancey in these areas). The hero agonizing over what his identity might be gets to be tedious and the love story is awkward as in all of his books. But, mostly the book moved at a good enough pace to make me want to read more. This is the first book in a three part series. I didn't know that when I read the book, and was frustrated and disappointed as I neared the end of the book and realized the story wouldn't be concluded. The second book in the series (Bourne Supremacy) is pretty bad and doesn't really build on the first book. It isn't necessary to read it before jumping on to the third book (Bourne Ultimatum) and the conclusion of the story. The third book isn't as good as the first, but is worth reading for the conclusion.
Rating: Summary: bourne identity Review: this was the first ludlum book i read - and i am definetly hooked. it's great. you just can't put it down. if you like this, also read other bourne books.
Rating: Summary: Bourne, Jason Bourne Review: This book was interesting to read and i enjoyed it. I hope to read more of Robert Ludlum's books in the future.
Rating: Summary: Best Ever Review: The absolute best of Robert Ludlum. Could not put it down. Need to pay attention to keep up with the characters and plot twists.
Rating: Summary: Top Book - Truly Recommended Review: This was the first of Ludlum's books I ever read, And once I had I was hooked. I continued with the Bourne Trilogy (Supremacy, Ultimatum) and since then I have read every one I could get my hands on. Ludlum's attention to detail, his absoulute brilliance in developing plot lines, twists, and his masterful ability of keeping the reader on the edge of his seat and up well into the early hours. I recommend this book to anyone who has read anything by Forsyth, or anything in this catagory. Ludlum, in my view, is the all time Master!
Rating: Summary: Current Living Encyclopaedia Review: The Bible is a living book which inspires and transforms whovever reads it meticulously, likewise the Bourne Identity is an enigma with all branch of knowledge. I read it fourteen times i watched the movie 20 times and yet they aren't monotonous. Every single day i read it i recognize new meaning. Many reviewers are forgetting the extarordinary talents of Dr George p Washburn. In fact he is the main figure ressurrecting David Webb created by the monk David Abbot. As i said this is a book of all branch of knowledge another figure is Dr Mo Panov the psychiatrist. This book Ludlum might have wriitten it in a coma under special guidance by angels. I have never read a book which all the chapters are gripping and engrossing. Ludlums stylistic is far beyond unique. Cain the international assasin hunted by unseen men and armies is so elusive regardless of his amnesiac condition. Actually the book is even more thrilling by the fact this man has so much professionalism in him that he knows not thyself but instinct which is untaught ability commands him. The fact that he traces things thru images and small clues is appallling. The very words of Washburn proved true in the sense that he was not helpless he will find his way. There are many things that this book contains that it will ever reign supreme in the 21st century. I have read the other two series which are very good but far behind the Bourne Identity. You learn a lot from Banks hospitals to intelligence network oprerations. This book transforms one to a chameleon. It proves people wrong such personalities like Alexander Conklin. It makes people realize they are expendable such as General Villiers. The major thing is not the theme but the means of survival. Jason Bourne is beyond genius. The definition of genius is the abiulity to reduce the complexity to simplicity. What Bourne did was paving the labyrinth into a smooth road. I have been affected by the book in the fact i cannot read other Ludlum Books, the only book i managed to read twice was the matarese circle. All the rest i end up on the 20th page and i put it down. Ludlum should quit writing unless he will ressurrect again to his talents of 1980. I have many questions to the book and i wish i had his email because there are characters such as chernak i never completely understood his role of sending envelopes. And was he communicating with bourne before bourne became amnesiac. I would like ludlum to answer this question whether Bbourne was contacting with chernak prior his five bullets shot on that ship
Rating: Summary: An engrossing tale. Well worth the read. Review: Ludlum conjures his art to weave the reader delicately into the story, as the consciousness of this mysterious man unfolds. The experiences he has and the people he meets are met with the reader, who cannot be swayed from the question: who is this man? A masterfully written tale that has sculpted the standard for many years to come.
