Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Reading Review: Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors. Pretend you Don' See Her was not a disappointment. I didn't figure out the mystery until the very end. I would recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: One of MHC's best novels Review: One of my two favorite Mary Higgins Clark novels, Pretend You Don't See Her is a thrilling story of a New York real estate agent who witnesses a murder - she is placed in the witness protection program but she is still wrapped up in the case & has some evidence that keeps the story unfolding in stunning ways... This book keeps you guessing till the end & is a real page turner. It's on my bookshelf next to the classics, this is a real masterpiece!
Rating: Summary: absolutely marvelous... Review: In this enticing novel, Lacey Farrell, a Manhattan real estate agent for Parker & Parker, finds herself in a massive amount of trouble. She has witnessed the murder of a wealthy client, Isabelle Waring, and even sees her murderer, who she recognized immediately. Isabelle had confided in Lacey only a few days before that she thought the death of her daughter Heather was no accident. And now, Isabelle is dead, and the only thing to help Lacey figure out the murder of the two women is from Heather Landi's journal. Lacey is placed into the witness protection program, and all of a sudden her whole life is turned upside-down. Placed in Minneapolis under a fake identity, Lacey strives to adapt to her new home until Isabelle's murderer is found and placed behind bars forever. Every now and again, she sees Isabelle's murder all over again, her murderer's eyes a piercing blue. Then, she meets Tom Lynch, who owns his own radio program, and becomes involved with him for a while. But later she decides she doesn't want to drag him into her problems and breaks it off. Suddenly she discovers the murderer has tracked her down, and Lacey is on the run back to New York, where she hopes to discover whether Heather Landi's death was intentional, and most importantly, WHY? Written in omniscient point of view, this book is full of suspense and excitement, with a riveting plot that will leave your heart beating for more. Mary Higgins Clark writes the most marvelous books with extraordinary details and descriptions that leave the reader breathless. Definitely a page-turner, Pretend You Don't See Her is a must-read for all Mary Higgins Clark fans. Other absolutely marvelous books by Mary Higgins Clark include We'll Meet Again, You Belong To Me, and the ever-popular All Around The Town.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed it! Review: I really like Mary Higgins Clark and Pretend You Don't See Her which I actually listened to on audio cassettes is one of My favorites and I liked the character Lacey Farrell and was very interested in what would happen with her character and I think Pretend You Don't See Her is perfect for people who don't like stories that are too creepy or too ultra-violent and since I liked the abridged audiobook I bought the book and plan on reading it! Fans of the musical Les Miserables may be interested to know that Randy Graff was the original Fantine in the Broadway production of that show and she can be heard singing on the original Broadway cast recording which is an excellent CD!
Rating: Summary: The Best Suspence Review: MHS is an incredible suspence writer that will keep you guessing till the very end. Lacey Farrell, a retail sales woman, witnesses a murder and must be put into the witness protection program. Unfortunately, the murderer finds out where she is and is on a mission to kill her to keep her from finding out a terrible secret.
Rating: Summary: Pretend You Don't See Her Review: I have been reading Mary Higgins Clark for over 10 years and this one is my favorite. It was on of the most suspensefull, page turning book of hers yet. I didn't figure it out till the last chapter. A must have!! I have this one in hard back.
Rating: Summary: Suspensful and Exciting Review: I found this MHC novel to be both suspenseful and exciting. This was a great story about one woman's struggle of being tied up between murders and her complications in the Witness Protection Program. I thought she did an excellent job of making you really understand and feel Lacey's pain and she had you at the edge of your seat throughout the whole novel. Another classic novel from the Queen of Suspense.
Rating: Summary: Exciting and Suspensful Review: I ecspecially enjoyed this MHC novel. This book has all of the elements of a good MHC novel. It included a suspenseful plot and a good line of characters as do all of her novels. The play on Alice's anominity is well done and versed. She really made you feel Alice's (Lacey's) pain that she experienced from not being known and not being able to get close to anyone. She definitly upheld her standard as the Queen of Suspense in this one.
Rating: Summary: Ususal formula Review: Pretend You Don't See Her is a typical Mary Higgins Clark novel - lots of characters, lots of plot, lots of plot twists but not too much substance. I enjoy a plot-driven book, but need the characterizations to make it a fulfilling experience, and I suspect that MHC sacrifices characterization for plot. At least, the lead player should be deeper and we should get to know her better. With Agatha Christie, we always empathised with at least one person (usually the detective who was seeking to resolve the mystery), but with Mary Higgins Clark, that closeness is sorely missing and, unfortunately it detracts from the pleasure of her novels. That said, Pretend You Don't See Her gives what it says it will give - a fast-paced thriller that will have the reader guessing right up to the final chapter. For plot, I give this book five stars. For depth of character two. Average? Three and a half, so let's say four.
Rating: Summary: Worth the read Review: This was the first book I read by MHC and I thoroughly ejoyed it. I have read about 11 of her boosk so far. This one I enjoyed the best.
