Summary: Storytelling at it's Best!
Review: All in all, I was not impressed with my first Odds Bodkin encounter. I felt the stories were marred, rather than enhanced, by Mr. Bodkins' sound effects. There were many times that my child (and I) simply could not understand what was being said.

Additionally, although the cover indicates the tape is suitable for children ages 6 and over, I have to say I disagree. One story on the tape, The Buffalo's Wife, has a section where the father (a human, not a buffalo) is stomped to death by a herd of buffalo. It has a fairly graphic description of bone pieces and other blood and gore, which my daughter and I both found quite disturbing.

Other Bodkin tapes/titles may be better, but I'm not sure I'm willing to invest money to find out.

Summary: My girls can't get enough
Review: My girls, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 love this tape and have listened to it at least 100 times. When I first heard it I found it fast and noisy but I learned how to tackle Odds Bodkin and teach the kids, too. The first time we go through a new story I stop the tape/CD literally every few words and explain the word or phrase to them. From then on they love it and study it and listen in rapt attention.

The Buffalo story I at first thought might be too loud and scary for them, but they love it and both dressed as Indians for Halloween. The last story took some explaining as well but now they love it and when my big one gets sad she repeats, from the story, "well, the morning is wiser than the night."

I would have given it 4 stars but the kids consider it a 5. I am buying more of them today.

Summary: Storytelling at it's Best!
Review: Odds Bodkin is truely a Master Storyteller! The Story of the Wise Little Girl had our children silent with excitement the first time they heard it! The music and voices of Odds Bodkin are astounding! It's hard to believe that one person is behind all of this! The Wise Little Girl made our children realize that the wisdom we all have inside ourselves is a wonderful thing to share!
