Rating: Summary: Suspense Thriller Review: This book Loves Music, Loves to Dance is an amazing suspense novel. It kept me on the edge of the seat and I couldn't put it down. I never would have thought that personal ads were as creepy as they are and that they draw madmen out of their cave. TV producer, Nona, wants to do a show about why people respond to personal ads and who they are. Nona convinces her two best friends to do some research for her. Erin and Darcy both agree and Erin answers ads for the both of them. After a date with an "ad person" Erin isn't heard from again, but a few days later her body is found strangled to death and wearing a dancing slipper and her own shoe. Darcy soon finds out that many other girls who answered the ads are missing but still Darcy wants to find the killer of her best friend. Darcy keeps trying to find out who killed her friend, not realizing she is the next victim. The story jumps back and forth to show you what the murderer is feeling. It gives you huge creepy feeling; yet you understand how crazy he is. You would never guess that the killer is who he really is. He started killing 15 years ago when he had a huge crush on Nan Sheridan and he got jealous of her. He was invited to her party so he decided to give her her gift the next morning, a pair of dancing slippers. If you love suspense novels this is one you should read. You won't put it down and you will stay up half the night trying to read it.

Rating: Summary: Girls Should Never Look for Guys in the Personals Review: Erin and Darcy have been friends since childhood. They are best friends who do almost everything together. Erin is a jewellery designer who has just landed a job that will make her career. Darcy is an interior designer with a flourishing business. When a friend asks them to help her gather data for a televison program she's doing on dating from the personals, the girls agree. After all, it would be fun, answereing a few ads, going out on a few dates. A lark. And then Darcy doesn't come back from one of the dates. Her body is discovered with a dancing shoe on one foot. Erin decides to date the same men as her friend had, hoping she'll find out who the killer is. However, Darcy wasn't the first victim the killer found though a personal ad and, to his way of thinking, she won't be the last, because now he has his sights set on Erin. It's always been a mystery to me how anyone can believe what they read in these ads. People lie. I mean you could be going out with a serial killer, as Darcy did, or with a rapist, or the very least, probably someone who is stepping out on his wife. Anyway, one thing is guaranteed for sure, if you read this book, you won't be answering any ads from the Sunday paper, or any other paper either. That said, I couldn't put this one down, it's a super thriller.
Rating: Summary: A LESSON TO BE LEARNED Review: Most of us have not only have favorite authors whose books are "auto" buys for us, but most of us also could name our most favorite book by said author....(i.e. Harvest if my most favorite Tess Gerritsen book)..............Well, Love's Music, Love's to Dance has always (and will forever remain) my most favorite MHC book!!! This book kept me on the edge of my seat..........a madman who likened himself to the great Fred Astaire, and his victims to his dancing partner, Ginger Rogers......this is one of those books that actually made goosebumps appear on my arms! Erin and Darcy, best friends, move to NYC together. While each one of them has their own career, they decided to help a tv producer who was doing a documentary on newspaper personal columns....a study as to what type of people place and answer these ads; their experiences, good or bad.... In six weeks of meeting people, they each had some funny stories to tell.....it all seemed so innocent.,...until the night Erin disappeared after meeting someone who placed an ad....Her body was found on a pier in Manhattan, and she was wearing one of her shoes, and one very fancy high heel shoe..... Darcy delves into finding out who killed her best friend...not knowing that she is the murderer's next victim! This book is typical MHC style..........plethora of characters to keep us guessing .......... a building up of tension as the pages fly by.......... a twisted ending......... This book has been recommended soooooooo many times by me to soooo many people.........I've lent out my two copies and I bought quite a few for presents.....no matter how great her other books are, this is THE one that's at the top of my list!! Oh, by the way, don't count on going to bed at night, until you finish the book..........it's one you can't put down!!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good plot story, characterization needs work. Review: I don't usually pick up Mary Higgins Clark mysteries, but it was late at night and this was readily available in my daughter's room. This was a better read then some of her other books I've come across. The plot was good. I've known and suspected that meeting people via the Internet is not the safest way to go. Too many predators out there. Clark did not make use of the concept enough...just used Internet like newspaper ads for singles. Many times people will talk to another person for months, even years before meeting them in person...and this could have been used more in the story. My big complaint again is character development. I don't know where Clark gets the idea that describing the fancy clothes her characters wear is character development, but that seems to be what she is doing. I guess her books are trying to straddle genres here, being part mystery and part romance. Apparently the female characters also need to find someone 'right' to love in these books also. Ok, enough nitpicking. For a quick read that demands no effort on the part of the reader this book is fine. Even I get tired of the science and bioethics books, and need a mindless break once in a while. :-) Karen Sadler
Rating: Summary: Good Mystery Review: Set in New York City, two 28-year-old friends, Darcy Scott and Erin Kelley, decide to try their romantic luck at answering personal ads. However, when Erin answers an ad reading "Loves Music, Loves to Dance," she is later killed by the man who wrote it, a man who turns out to be a personal-ad serial killer. Darcy sets out to discover who he is by going on the same dates Erin did, but she may not live to find out when he targets her as his next victim. "Loves Music, Loves to Dance" is a fast-paced mystery, due in part to the brief chapters. Each scene is perhaps 1-2 pages long, which I liked, but, at times, the short passages didn't flow very well together. Plus there were too many characters to keep track of--suspects and investigators--which was basically to keep the reader guessing the identity of the killer. It's not too hard to guess him, though, if you keep a sharp eye on one of the men at the beginning, but even I had my doubts halfway through. Overall, this was a good mystery. Clark fans should like this one.
Rating: Summary: Love it Review: I've read practically everything by Mary Higgins Clark and "Loves Music, Loves to Dance" is I'm pretty sure my favorite. It's not overly melodramatic or cheesy, it has an interesting plot, and it completely draws you in. I couldn't put it down! If I was just starting to read her books, I would want to read this one first. Really wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: WICKED GOOD READ! Review: This book hits the ground running. A serial killer is suckering women with personal ads. Very thorough story with several interesting characters. Even the suspects who washed out were interesting and well defined. This was my first MGC mystery and I had no idea I would be giving it 5 stars. I highly recommend this book. I really could not put it down it was so compelling.
Rating: Summary: A sometimes fun, mostly boring, predictable journey. Review: Mary delivers a predicatable novel, filled with slow paced action and a very obvious who-dunnit approach ... While still keeping true to her traditional style, "Loves Music, Loves to Dance" is different from the other books. I have found some of Clark's books to be melodramatic and even boring, however this novel here is somewhat readable and will keep you flipping pages, if not a little grudgingly. After reading several chapters, it became clear as to who the 'bad guy' was, and a lot of the time her writing was methodical and predictable. Not a new book, by any means, but satisfyingly light and fluffy. A good book to read to bed, or in the car.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Id just like to say that I was dissapointed when i finished this book ..... because it was over and no other book could fill the expectations left behind from this book. I was on vacation in the bahamas when i read this and brought it to dinner with me everynight. My parents would say "were on vacation, were at a nice restaurant .. stop reading! your being rude!" but i couldnt put it down for a mere second. I can guarentee that you will be guessing until the last few pages, literally. What a great book. ANy MHC or mystery fan will fall in love with this book
