Summary: Good but not great
Review: I have always enjoyed SEP's books, and I looked forward to this one and ran out and got it as soon as it came out. This book was good, don't get me wrong, but I feel that it isn't up to the usual standard's for SEP's books. Her books are usually snappy and funny and sexy, and this one just wasn't quite the same, it felt like something was missing. Kevin Tucker is an ok guy, but he seems just a bit generic gorgeous sports star to me. Molly was just a bit too neurotic for me to believe that she wasn't in therapy. Some of the stunts she pulls are just too unbelievable, and the fact that Kevin seems to just suddenly love her when they spend most of the book trying to stay away from each other is hard to swallow. This may sound harsh, and I really did like the book, but compared to other books of hers (It Had To Be You, Lady Be Good, Heaven, Texas) this book just wasn't up to her usual standards. Dan and Phoebe's story in It Had To Be You was much funnier and sexier and full of sparks. Maybe that's what bothered me. Kevin and Molly just don't seem to generate any heat, but they do have a sweet love story. Worth reading, but I would wait until the paperback comes out.

Summary: Entertaining Romance
Review: I enjoyed "This Heart of Mine" very much. Kevin and Molly are real people, and the issues in their marraige and romance rang true. Molly's career writing children's books added a lot to the story, and you really feel her creativity and imagination. The story (and their romance) soars when Kevin takes Molly to the sprawling old lakeside resort he inherited. If you enjoy humor, passion, and well written characters in your novels (I do!) you'll have fun with SEP's first hard cover book.

Summary: The best Susan Elizabeth Phillip Book In Years!
Review: As an admitted fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, I may be biased, but THIS HEART OF MINE is one of her better books and I wouldn't hesitate to reccommend this book to anyone. Especially if you're already a fan don't wait for the paperback, this is one hardcover book that's worth the extra expense.

Kevin Tucker (the back-up quarterback from NOBODY'S BABY BUT MINE) is a football player for whom the game is his life and that's the way he likes it. To simplify matters, he doesn't make it a habit to spend time with women who are chatty or intelligent. So to his surprise he enjoys the short time he inadvertantly spends with Phobe Somerville (from IT HAD TO BE YOU and current owner of the Chicago Stars, the team he plays for)'s little sister, what was her name again? That is until one night when she commits an impulsive act that could affect both their lives.

Mollie Sommerville, a children's book author with a hard earned reputation for being a good girl has had a crush on Kevin for years. Unfortunately, he can't even remember her name. She's also had restless and wild impulses for years. Both she successfully subdues . . . most of the time. And one of those few times she didn't is something for which Kevin doesn't seem willing to forgive her.

Pushed together by circumstances, Kevin and Mollie learn that the other is not entirely who they seem to be and they, and they alone, understand each other.

Personally, as THIS HEART OF MINE is being sold as the last in the Chicago Stars series, I would have liked to have seen more and longer appearances from characters from the previous books. I was especially disappointed that the Bonner's didn't play a part, but new readers might find this a boon as THIS HEART OF MINE defintely stands alone, and while it's nice to have read IT HAD TO BE YOU first, it's certainly not necessary.

Don't MISS THIS HEART OF MINE. A little crazy at times, very contemporary, and an all around great romantic read.

Summary: Good, not great
Review: This is an okay book by Phillips, although not her best. I was looking forward to reading about grown-up Molly, who was introduced in "It Had to Be You", and Kevin (introduced in "Nobody's Baby". And while the book had the usual snappy dialogue of Phillips' novels, somehow the plot didn't grab me.

The recent change in behavior for Kevin and the occasional pieces of bizarre behavior from Molly were never really explained, and didn't fit in their characters as developed.

It wasn't a bad book or boring, it just wasn't engrossing. I'd check it out at the library or wait for paperback.

Summary: Another Star for Susan Elizabeth Philips!!!
Review: Molly and Kevin are a definate dynimite couple!!! They are funnier, crazier, nuttier and more loveable than any other Star couple that Susan Elizabeth Philips has written about yet! Molly is the complete oposite of her sister Phoebe but ten times as sweet. Molly is a struggling writer of childrens' books, she gave up all of the money that her father had willed to her and she is trying to make it on her own, but still dealing with her crush on Kevin, and having a hard time doing so. Kevin, the big bad quarterback with a marshmellow center, is dealing with an emptiness in his life and can't figure out why it is there, so he goes and does as many dangerous stunts he can find. Molly and Kevin have a great love story with a lot of banter, laughter and growth as people. This book is the icing on Ms. Philips cake as an author. A great read and a definate keeper.

Summary: Another Touchdown for SEP!
Review: This was worth waiting for! It is a wonderful sequel in the Chicago Stars series, and carries on with the story of Kevin (from Nobody's Baby But Mine) and Molly (It Had to Be You). If you enjoyed those books, you'll love this one, too. At the beginning, the story seemed predictable, then took an unexpected turn. The dialogue is snappy, and the secondary plot is enjoyable, too. The only thing sad about the release of this book is the rumor that this is the end of the Chicago Stars series. Her fans really hope not!

Summary: Fantastic
Review: In her late twenties, Molly Somerville, children's author of Daphne the Bunny, chides her self for her teen-like crush on football player Kevin Tucker. Molly's sister and brother-in-law own the National Football League's Chicago Stars where Kevin is the superstar quarterback. Kevin sleeps and dreams football, but his behavior has changed this year as he does daring stunts almost like he suffers a mid-life crisis.

One night by chance, Molly and Kevin end up together at her sister's vacation home. They share a wonderful night of lovemaking, but the morning light brings acrimonious feelings. When Molly informs Kevin that she is pregnant, they reluctantly marry. That ends when she miscarries. However, Kevin knows he loves Molly and will do what it takes, including a Hail Mary as time runs out, to gain her love.

THIS HEART OF MINE is an entertaining fun to read contemporary romance. The story line will blitz the reader due to the cast. The lead characters are an enjoyable duet and the snippets from Bunny add to the understanding of Molly. The support cast also provides the readers an opportunity to further understand the essences of Molly and Kevin. Award winning Susan Elizabeth Phillips scores a touchdown with her hardcover debut novel.

Summary: Enjoyable but could have been better
Review: Having just read the conclusion to SEP's "Chicago Stars" books, I can say that THIS HEART OF MINE is a satisfying conclusion. The story is about Molly Sommerville, younger sister to Phoebe who is the owner of the Stars, and Kevin Tucker the present quarterback of the Stars. Molly has striven to be a good girl but has a tendency to rebel and get into trouble. Kevin, who grew up in a very religious home with older parents, struggles to make a lasting emotional connection. Each character is very different from what they try to let people see. After a rocky start, they end up finding love while working at a family campground that Kevin has inherited. If you have read the other books in the series, you will be happy to know that Dan and Phoebe play a big role in this book. What worked in this book: the beautiful setting, Molly's writings with Daphne the Rabbit and Benny the Badger being the alter egos of Molly and Kevin. What didn't work: the story of Kevin's mom and the lack of spark between the two characters. This book isn't HEAVEN, TEXAS, the best of the Chicago Stars books in my humble opinion, but it is an enjoyable read and a nice conclusion to the series.

Summary: Be Careful What You Wish For...
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It's a continuation of the Chicago
Stars series by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I agree with others that at times it can be immature, but hey, aren't we all children at heart.

Molly is Phoebe's younger sister, and also a children's bookwriter. Kevin is the head quarterback for the
Chicago Stars. She's always had a 'schoolgirl' crush on him. They met briefly in SEP's earlier books, but they have an accidental meeting in this book that gives them more of an acquaintance. They find out how much they have in common.

This book made me laugh. This book made me cry. Susan
has such a wonderful way of telling a story. I give this story
my highest rating of 5 stars:)

Summary: Buy it if you really a fan of SEP
Review: Well, I must say that I have eagerly expected to read the story about Kevin Tucker for a long time. SEP has started to be slightly obsessed with weak female characters which surprises me a lot. I am used to read her stories about strong yet tender and somehow independent females. If you read "Dream a little dream or Nobody's baby but mine, you will understand what I am trying to say. Unfortunately I was not moved by Molly Sommerville. I, too am having trouble understanding what had happened the brilliant Kevin from Nobody's baby but mine. That one was definetly gorgeous and humorous. In this book he is still amazing but lack of that kind of spirit, perhaps because of immature Molly.
Just in Heaven, Texas before, this time I, again find most interesting, the romance between the celebrities; Kevin's mother and famous artist.
This one is not a real disappointment but, consider your time and preferences as well as money before ordering it.
