Summary: a modern classic
Review: I can remember when I first read this book- it was after Der Schlick Meister, Pantless Willy, Bubba got elected, but before he was inaugurated. The Liberals were riding high, the lies they told in the media had stupefied so many back then. I really thought America was going to go down the tubes. That was when I found Rush and his works. He gave me hope, hope that America was not over, as Bill Clinton's election seemed to portend.

Liberal magpies constantly sqwawk about how Rush tells us what to think. That is so untrue, like most of what they believe. One of my favorite things about Rush is that he often speaks what's on my mind, as though he plucked it from my head. Many Conservatives claim this. He was a voice for those who had none at CNN or CBS or much of anywhere in the media. I am ecstatic that now things have come full circle and that the CNN who once mocked him, now comes to him hat in hand. It is justice that is poetic.

Summary: Rush really was a big fat idiot!
Review: Rush Limbaugh was funny once...in the distant past...long before he wrote this book...before he took himself seriously as a political leader of sorts. I am nonpartisan when it comes to humor. The old, old Rush spat out right wing nonsense, but he was funny. Gone is the humor in THE WAY THINGS OUGHT TO BE, except for traces of a snide, the world-is-out-to-get-me disparaging excuse for humor. This all seemed to work for a while, until it got old (fast). And the likes of Al Franken and James Carville popped Limbaugh like the balloon he appeared to be. Interestingly, Franken's RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A BIG FAT IDIOT and other (even obscure) Limbaugh lambastings are still in print yet THE WAY... seems to be out of print. As goes his waste line, so goes his following. Yet THE WAY... is not entirely unworthy of reading. It makes all the Limbaugh jokes funnier, and despite the author's lack of intentional humor, his corresponding lack of logic or factual accuracy is also funny in a way. In a way Limbaugh's fading makes a review of this old, forgotten book almost irrelevant ... but I'd actually like to see a Rush revival. He provided such good material for the comics.

Summary: And They Should Be!
Review: Rush narrates his own audio version of his books and in this, his initial effort, he does well to straighten everybody out at least 98.7% of the time. Need to know more? Buy it and listen!

Summary: Great Read!
Review: I was thumbing through my dittohead bartender's guide, and it compelled me to come back and check out Rush's old books. I forgot how funny he could be. For any serious Limbaugh fan, this is a must! Issues change so fast in the political world, it's interesting to go back and read "The Way Things Ought To Be" and hear that "spotted-owls" were once at the top of the agenda! In addition, Rush's books always have a "timeless" theme when he talks about hard work, entrepreneurism, and the American Dream. His critics should look at Limbaugh's "true" record: from several firings to world renown entertainer (if that's not the American Dream, I don't know what is). I highly suggest dittoheads pick this up, as well as "See I Told You So" (Rush's 2nd Book) and "Bob Cobb's Dittohead Bartender's Guide" (Not one of Rush's books, but just as funny). Conservatism is not dead in America, and Rush Limbaugh's popularity will continue to exhibit that fact. Keep entertaining, Rush!

Summary: Answer me this
Review: If Limbaugh is so smart (and so popular), why is the first of only two books he's written in the last decade already out of print and only available in tapes-for-the-illiterate form?

Summary: "Rush" is slang for "Inhalant."
Review: Limbaugh, while vaguely funny, is like a trick magician: he can be blindly literalistic, while simultaneously pulling strange conclusions out of nothingness. Besides his robotic liberal-bashing, he manages to warp facts and data to suit his own needs. He-like many others on the far right-seems to think that the poor enjoy being poor and on welfare. His entire environmentalist theory is outdated by seven years of changes in the environment. He blindly follows "Creation Science," a facade for fundamentalist Christians desiring their brand of religion to become mandatory in public schools. Creationism has been shown to be a rather flimsy conjecture, well contravened by fossil records, radiocarbon dating, and behavioral and physiological similarities and differences. His environmental theory-as well as that of other Creationists-is full of the vices of pride and vainglory: it claims a massive gap between humans and other creatures of God. Aside from the preposterous ecology, the book tries to make liberalism a scapegoat for all of the world's problems. Limbaugh also supports bigotry, claiming Christianity to be infinitely superior to all other forms of religion-which is certainly not the case. His arrogant and presumptuous implication that this book will magically convert liberals to his quasi-Fascism remains unfounded. It intersperses elitist claims to moral high ground, then lapses into immature name-calling as childish as a sadistic grade-schooler. This book is a good example of residue from the pre-Clinton era; a specimen of seven-years-outdated rambling.

Summary: He Makes Some Good Points
Review: I never used to pay much attention to Rush Limbaugh. My grandma watched his program on TV, and I overheard his anti-liberal tirades on occasion. His overt smugness turned me off, and that's why I didn't care to listen to him much. After reading this book, however, I've softened my skepticism of Rush Limbaugh. The first few chapters were a little dull, but once I reached his views on specific issues, I found he made many good points. Even when I didn't agree on his specific content, his point of view was revealing, and certainly much more refreshing than liberal feel-good gibberish. This is a good book which reads well and makes many good points in an entertaining way, but in spite of its incisiveness, I wouldn't rate it a conservative masterpiece. If you want the deep intelligent stuff, try Robert Bork or William F. Buckley.

Summary: Dittos, Rush!
Review: Many major mega-dittos from Steele, MO., Rush-only about 80 miles from your hometown of Cape Girardeau, MO.

Rush tells it like it is in this no-holds barred common sense peice! He challenges us to think on our own and not believe the liberal-pandering mass media and it's one sided views of how things are/should be.

Rush should be given credit for starting an avalanche of common sense. He proves that our founding fathers were not godless men who wanted to keep every vestige of religion out of public life. To prove this, he goes back to documents written by our founding fathers that if they would only look, every liberal would have to agree with.

Sure, no one out there may agree with totally 100% of everything Rush says, but I say let's re-elect Ronald Reagan (Alzheimer's & all), resurrect Nixon for vice- president and have Rush appointed to the Supreme Court!

Summary: Unsurprising
Review: A man trying to tell a crowd that they are badly governed will never be unpopular. That given, Rush Limbaugh's popularity should surprise no one. On some things he makes sense. On some, notably on science issues, he's got his head up his... If you don't know he's conservative you've been living under a rock for years now, and if you've heard his radio show even once, nothing in this book should surprise you in the least.

Summary: Rush Limbaugh is NOT the absolute truth!
Review: This book is interesting. Rush brings up some great topics, but he is NOT the law and everything he says is NOT THE TRUTH! He represents everything wrong with Capitol Hill. The constant "us" against "them" mentality. His radio program is totally one-sided and he thinks that the media is bias torwards Liberals, HA! I have NEVER heard him say a bad thing about a Republican/Conservative. Take this book with a grain of salt. He is not some anti-government/racist nut either, so fellow Liberals just chill. Remember freedom of speech!
