Rating: Summary: unsubstantiated ranting.... Review: honestly i wouldnt even waste my time with limbaugh's book.... he does the old poitical/speakers tricks of calling the opponents liars( therefore assuring you that he is not), giving opinion as fact, siting statistics without saying from where they came, or margins of err, and does not ever present the oppositions views, instead immediately dismissing them and then jumping to his "solution."He even goes so far as to attack the left wing for branding converatives with derogitory terms, yet routinely refers to them as "feminazis" and suchpersonally id recommend either michael moore(my personal hero) or P.J. O'Rourke( right wing, but dosent go off the deep end)
Rating: Summary: Rush is now mainstream Review: When this book was written some years ago Rush was considered an oddity by the mainstream press and the who's who in the world of journalism and politics. Now Rush is featured on election night on NBC. Rush has arrived and has hit the political scene like a hurricane. His book clearly lays out his views on life and politics in particular. He rebuts the arguments of liberals such as feminist, environmentalist, the Democratic party and any other faction of liberalism as it is defined today. Some say that Rush is only an entertainer so as to not give him credit for his very insightful observations on the political scene. Those most critical of him usually don't listen to his radio show or read his books. Decide for yourself who this man is. Read his book. His love for this country and the American people is sincere and his philosophy is based on the United States Constitution. Rush is a true patriot and his book is a must read for those who want to be informed on what liberalism really is and the hidden agenda by those who are proponents of it.
Rating: Summary: Rush Is a Creationist ... Enough Said Review: The man believes in science as practiced during the Middle Ages. He bases his hatred of environmentalists and the environment on the words of men writing in nearly prehistoric times who believed the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, the universe is 6,000 years old, demons cause epilepsy, all the world's animals could fit on one boat, and a few thousand years ago the entire earth was covered with water, including Mount Everest. The man is an uneducated, superstitious religious nut, and we're supposed to take his rantings on anything seriously? Thank God for Al Franken -- Rush may no longer be big and fat, but he's still an idiot.
Rating: Summary: Know thy enemy Review: When this book was first released, there was a storm of protest against it. In my own native Rochester NY, a feminist group tried to pressure an area party house to overturn their decision to hire him to perform there, in complete ignorance of the fact that an entertainment venue caters to the people who will show up at a performance, not those who they know won't. It's amazing what a contradiction in terms the word "know-it-all" is. When I bought a copy of the book, fellow liberals among my friends sneered, their line of reasoning being not wanting to dirty their hands with it, throw their money away on it, yadda-yadda. My own line of reasoning was that knowing in some detail what is wrongheaded about the other side is essential to really knowing that they're wrongheaded. It was in that spririt that my high school poli sci class made Marx's "Manifesto" required reading. I remain a solid anti-communist to this day, however. But about Limbaugh, my bourgeois liberal friends preferred being peer-pressured into repudiating him word-unheard or by hearsay at best. Stimulus: "Rush Limbaugh". Pavlovian response: "Grrrr!" Hey, why contaminate your mind with facts when zealotry is the best course? But a redneck like me needs facts--we're insufferable that way. Like little kids who keep asking "why", to Mommy's escalating annoyance. It was at that point that I began to doubt my own credentials as a bona fide liberal. I could talk the talk and walk the walk, but I couldn't manage the mindless conformity that all ideologues must have, left or right. I could speak the language, but I wasn't really a native. To this day, I'm still not one of Limbaugh's "dittoheads". That would require the same level of conditioned response that being a "true liberal" does. But as a consequence of owning this book, when I dis this dweeb, I can provide chapter and verse, by direct quote from The Man Himself, as to just why he is a dweeb.
Rating: Summary: Cry for Freedom of Speech!!!! Review: I was very impressed by the high quality of all the information provided by the book. Besides, I enjoyed very much the friendly, personal style. There is no hate in this book, Limbaugh is opposed to racial violence (and clearly condemns what the nazis and others have done, etc.) But what he is concerned about are the many facts that are pushed aside by those who control the media and push their leftist political agenda. I must admit that Limbaugh makes some political proposals at the end of the book. And there is none of these conspiracy theories either in the book, it always remains serious. I learned a lot with this book. Most interesting, I learned the truth about the gas chamber stories (Auschwitz...) and the actual numbers of Jews killed by holocaust. Now I know that there is no real freedom of speech but manipulation of the masses even in Western countries, especially in the European countries. I asked a friend who reads much history to read the chapter on the holocaust, and his feedback was positive. This is why there is no freedom of speech on these matter in Europe, on these issues. Any doubts, critics on this issue mean a jail sentence of 5 years in several European countries (or shall I call them dictatures?) This may be the best general book written in the 2nd half of the 20th century. Give it a chance, you won't believe how your eyes will open and discover some hidden truths and see how some modern myths have been fabricated by the left, especially when these are the myths the media are flooding, brainwashing us with. You will realize that some of these things that seem the most natural and foundational to your culture ... are myths. I must add that many readers who gave one star to the book clearly never had a look at it. So this person asserting that Limbaugh meant that anyone of black race is less intelligent than anyone of white race. Never does Limbaugh write anything close to this. He only gives the statistics, the results of the many IQ tests showing racial differences, and these tests show that the racial averages are different and that there is some overlap, so that some blacks have a higher IQ than some whites. An average is not the same as the whole statistical distribution, individuals may be far from the average. So please, before you give this book a bad rating, read it, or at least read the parts relevant to the points you are making.
Rating: Summary: I Read This Book. You Should Read It Too. Review: I actually read this book, which begins with an interesting account of Rush Limbaugh's early life in radio. I won't say anything about Limbaugh or his opinions (as reviewers have done below, many apparently having done so without actually reading the book). Read it. Whether you agree or disagree, it is important to expose yourself to this point of view. If you are politically opposed to Limbaugh, and are confident in your beliefs, then you should be able to digest his material and refute it logically, without anger or rancor. If you concur with Limbaugh's views, then you will discover reinforcement for your thinking. Whatever the case, read it. Only then will you be qualified to comment upon it, one way or the other.
Rating: Summary: A Good Showing of Rush's Views! Review: This turned out to be a very good book after I sat down and started reading it. Rush Limbaugh uses this book to give you his views on a wide rangs of subjects in the political spectrum. This book is every bit as humorous as Rush Limbaugh is on hid radio show. His views are given with an occasional one liner which makes for very interesting reading. After reading this book it is very easy to see why Rush is one of the guiding lights of the conservative movement. He articulates his views very effectively in this book. Read this book. You will certainly enjoy it. It's a whole lot of Rush.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: This is another of the Limbaugh Greats... If you don't agree with most of the subject matter in this book, I am not sure you even belong on Planet Earth :) well, maybe there is some room for a few liberals, I guess if there weren't any, we wouldn't have anthing to fight anymore
Rating: Summary: Limbaugh in his own words Review: This is Limbaugh's first, and perhaps best, book. It is a swift-reading introduction to his political outlook, which combines free-market economics and cultural traditionalism into a potent and persuasive ideological brew. One can, of course, disagree with all or part of what the man believes - but before that happens, it would be best to get a firm grounding in what he actually thinks. This is the book to go to for that data. I would also note, to anyone interested in GOP politics, that Limbaugh's enormous popularity is based on his ability to articulate the tacit worldview of his huge fanbase. That is what this book, essentially, constitutes - the political confession of middle American conservatism. As such, it is worth studying as an example of how to communicate with and capture the loyalty of that segment of the electorate that is so rarely heard from in other forums.
Rating: Summary: Excellent....Conservatives need a champion! Review: Rush is the man. You don't have to agree with everything he says, BUT alot of Americans do. Liberals you might want to check out what the rest of the country is thinking.
