Summary: The "Steal This Book" of the Republican Revolution
Review: For anybody who wants to understand what the "Republican Revolution" of 1992-1997 was all about, this book will prove illuminating and instructive. _The Way Things Ought to Be_ most closely resembles _Steal This Book_ by Abbie Hoffman and _DO IT!_ by Jerry Rubin -- an impassioned, if incoherent rallying cry to an ideological movement. Limbaugh, like Rubin and Hoffman, eschews any kind of rational argument-building in favor of an all-out shotgun assault of anecdotes, grandstanding, sermonizing, fatuousness, crude jokes, demonizing, lionizing, and sentimentalism. Any attempt to analyze this text for a coherent philosophy or rational argument will end in frustration; Limbaugh is gleefully unconcerned with the way he contradicts himself page after page.

This book only gets three stars because of Limbaugh's lack of structure. Like on his radio show, Limbaugh is never quite able to get to any point or finish a thought; he simply wanders off to another topic after he's flogged one routine long enough.

Summary: It is easy to manipulate info and invent statistics
Review: Never have I read a book so filled with arrogance and self-worth. Rush Limbaugh criticizes Liberals for insulting the person as opposed to the idea or the policy, yet he pulls no punches with his inaccurate generalizations of Liberals and "feminazis". Rush frequently uses statistics to make his points, but he does not bother to cite sources or footnote so the reader has absolutely no idea where these numbers are coming from. A random example occurs on page 121 where Rush claims that the National Organization of Women only represents the thoughts and beliefs of "maybe 1 percent or 2 percent of the population". How he got that number is anyone's guess. The book is filled with uncited stats and unsubstantiated info.

What is really funny is that back in 1992, Rush and other Republicans championed the popular will, portraying Liberals as greedy, hypocritical elitists who suck up hard-earned money through tax increases and waste it on programs to help their own agendas. Rush cites the country's election of Reagan and Bush as his main way of showing how conservative the American public really is. However, I recently read a pole from the New York Times back in 1981 that showed that only 11% of those who elected Reagan did so because of his "conservative values". Since only about 50-55% of the eligible electorate actually voted, that means that approximately 3% of the electorate championed Conservatism. The greatest chunk of those polled (33%) said they voted for Reagan "because it was time for a change".

What is sad is that Rush is a smart guy and he does make good points on the Abortion issue and the Rodney King trial. But as a reader, I really felt he shot himself in the foot by not including footnotes or any type of bibliography.

Summary: I can't believe people actually believe this windbag.
Review: I could not help but notice that many conservatives who have not read any books written by liberal authors will cruise through amazon.com and search for works for them to rate one-star. I could not help but notice that the "evil" liberals have not returned the favor by sinking to that level. Dittoheads, you should be ashamed. I am a Republican who has been disillusioned by the party's takeover by the extremist right-wing. Perhaps I will join the masses of Republican voters who are, in record numbers, flocking to their local governments to change their party. It's because of extremists like Limbaugh that these things happen. No wonder Amazon.com didn't put up an official review of this book by a reputable source over here. Because no self-respecting book reviewer would like this trashy and misinformed book.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I found Rush's first book very amusing, informative, persuasive and well-written. Any liberals who disagree with what he says truly must read this book (or else listen to his radio show or read his newsletter) before making any judgment of him.

Summary: Great job Mr. Limbaugh
Review: I think this book was wonderful. Its just sad that someone who dosent like this book lacks common sense. If you want to get the truth behind the liberals, this is a must read. I am a full fledged DITTOHEAD, and damn proud of it. One more thing, HAIL RUSH LIMBAUGH

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A book with common sense
Review: Rush Limbaugh: the man who is not afraid to say that he is a Republican. The outline of the book is how it follows.... Common sense. (And no I am not a thoughtless robot). From chapter to chapter, Limbaugh gives his perspective on issues dealing with the poor, the savings and loan scandal of the 80's, and why Ronald Reagan was the greatest President of the 20th century (God Bless Him).

Summary: Great book
Review: This book shows the way a vast majority of the people of America think. To long, this majority has been belittled and now Limbaugh has come along and (as he writes) validates what these people think on a wide array of subjects. That is the overriding reason for the success of this book. He has done his homework and it shows in these pages. The politcal left in this country, content to make childish insults, ignore this book at their own peril for this book will be noted as a milestone in Conservative literature.

Summary: Five years later . . .
Review: I recently re-read this book, and it is a fascinating snapshot of a turbulent time in American history. As Limbaugh mentions in Chapter 1, the introduction, that the issue inwriting his book was trying to strike a balance between the zainy "current affairs" aspect of what he does, and writingta book to stand through the ages. He has done a wonderful job!

Athough the surface issues have changed, the undergirding principles have remained fixed and cemeted. Issues of private property, core values, self-reliance still ring true. These fixed principles are elucidated in his priceless "Articles of Faith" found on (paperback) pages 2-3.

Another key to Limbaugh's sucess is his directness and forthrightness and . . . bluntess in speaking his mind. There is no misunderstanding this man. His subjectivity is refreashing! We have tried not to offend everyone and in the process we have beome spineless mollycoddles. And we have slipped down into the gutter.

This is a wonderful book to do a leisurely review and reflecton on where we have come in five years. We just might have actually changed directions.

Summary: holla'
Review: Rush only has to change one thing to make this book 100% correct and that is change were he says he's right only 97.9% of the time to 100%.
