Summary: Chris Carter must feel cheated!
Review: That's not to say that Jane Jensen has stolen anything from Mr. Carter. I'm halfway through the book and I keep thinking that this is everything I had hoped Carter's Millennium would have turned out to be before it was cancelled. It's got deep dark government and corporate conspiracies, religious fanatics, technological paranoia, all participating in one of the most devasting and frightening end of the world scenarios that anyone's ever imagined. War, Famine, Plague, Panic, all in the first half of the book. Terrifying stuff. I can't wait to see how it ends.

Summary: Powerful book
Review: This is a very powerful book. Jensen is brilliant beyond words. She obviously has done a lot of research, or maybe she just knew this stuff.

I found it fascinating reading and did not want to put it down. Her characters are real, and the dialogue is not stilted. The events portrayed build and build to a climax where color seems important.

If Jensen doesn't write another thing, she's part of literary posterity for tackling a timely topic and making it plausible. I can't wait for the movie!

Summary: Don't sneeze on me
Review: This book really creeped me out. It scares me to think that we as humans can create our own apcoalypse. Very realistic. If you liked the Hot Zone you'll love this.

Summary: Millennium Rising
Review: The book was very disturbing at 1st. It made me think about how powerful our govrement is....but it made me think about how more powerful our mind is. I found it an excellent book...it held your interest where you did not want to put it down.I highly recommend it!

Summary: Millennium Rising
Review: This is the best book I have read in years. My wife, who read it first, kept telling me I'd love it, and she was right. I could hardly wait to see how the subplots would resolve. As other reviewers have commented, I too found this book difficult to put down. I think the title may keep some people from reading it, but that would be a big mistake. I enjoy reading Grisham, but I liked this book better than his books. I plan to recommend it to my friends.

Summary: At times terrifying, chilling, despairing, ever fascinating
Review: At the outset, I should state that I am not a fan of horror fiction (aside from most of Dean Koontz's works). While I can tolerate blood and gore quite well, religious horror seems to strike a primal fear in me. Ten seconds of the head turning scene from "The Exorcist" was too much for me to stomach. Although I love Ah-nold movies, I passed on "End of Days."

So you can understand why I approached "Millennium Rising" with some trepidation. I bought it because it had been described as "The X-Files" crossed with "Millennium."

I'm happy to report that Jane Jensen did a fabulous job of bringing me to brink of that primal fear without crossing the line. That's not to say that the book is not terrifying at times, because it is, and there are sequences that really do evoke the feeling of the end of the world.

As other reviewers have noted, there is a key revelation (so to speak) about halfway through the novel, but that hardly means you understand everything. Rather, the puzzlement shifts to a different level.

The only negative I have to say is that the ending seemed a little forced. Not unbelievable; it works within the framework of the book. But it felt truncated. Another short chapter would have been good. (I think this is because when you have been writing about the Apocalypse, you need more than a few pages to end your story.)

Summary: Start the new year excited!
Review: This book couldn't be more timely. Jane Jensen has obviously done thorough research in religion and philosophy. She also knows all the buttons to push. The story grabs you at the beginning and builds and builds, making it impossible to put down.

There are enough plot surprises to keep the reader guessing, and don't be surprised at getting emotionally involved.

Just read it!

Summary: Excellent plot, exciting themes!
Review: I have long been a fan of Jensen's Gabriel Knight mysteries, but was leery of her seeming millenial frenzy. Don't let the cheesy title scare you off! This is a great thriller - it's what I would imagine it would be like if The X-Files investigated the Apocalypse. Even halfway through the book when a big chunk of information is revealed, Jensen keeps you guessing until the last chapter, when you finally understand how all the details (seemingly thrown in for background) fit together.

The themes of redemption, trust, faith, and honor run throughout. No one is evil or saintly - the reader can at least understand, if not agree with, all motivations. Deauchez's personal journey - from skepticism to faith in the human spirit - really drives the story.

This is not just a religious or apocalypse novel (and doesn't have too much to do with the millenium). You won't want to put it down!

Summary: Millennium Rising
Review: I found the book exciting and thought provoking. Could hardly wait to get back to it every time I was forced to put it down (work does get in the way of reading). If you like thrillers with an X-file twist buy it.

Summary: Millennium Rising - A Star Rising
Review: If you are looking for a thriller, look no further. This book is addictive; it is both timely and preternatural. The story is crammed with facts relating to prophesy and comparative religion, which envelope compelling investigative characters. It doubles as sci-fi thriller and crime thriller. Patricia Cromwell is the nation's crime thriller, but we now have something more in Jane Jensen. Jane, we await book number 2.
