Summary: You just wanted to hug him and keep him safe.
Review: An excellent sequel to A Child Called It. Throughout the whole book, you just wanted to take care of him - tell him it was going to be okay. Dave's courage is immesurable; I'm eagerly looking forward to the finale of the trilogy.

Summary: can't wait for the third book.
Review: if he didn't know there was a god in his life. i somehow think the story would have been far more tragic. he was one incredibly brave boy and one fine young man. i was so uninformed of the foster system and you've opened my eyes. i did actually think it was one big money grab. but i see more clearly now. i attend church with a man who works in a childrens home. many of them i believe come from similiar situations. i am grateful you've opened my eyes. should you read your reviews i would greatly appreciate a note of how to get to you personally to just meet you. you are a very special man and it would be an honor to meet you.

Summary: Outstanding and Courageous
Review: I cried for him in his first book A Child Called It and was inspired by him in The Lost Boy. This is wonderfully written book by a truly good person. I can hardly wait for him to finish his next book A Man Called Dave.

Summary: I found this book to be very good and sad.
Review: I first read this book when I was 13. It took me two day but I just loved it. I also read the first one in two days. I hognestly enjoyed this one more. Now I pick it up to read when ever I am bored.

Summary: A heart-wrenching but, paradoxically, inspiring book.
Review: This book, #2 in a trilogy, is as commanding as the first book. I was, literally, unable to put it down. Mr. Pelzer has a way with words that draws the reader in and makes one want to read quickly to determine the end but yet hate to see the pages read increasing in number.

As with his first book, "A Child Called It", I wondered what special part of this youngster pushed him on, gave him hope and, from the time he was still living with his parents, kept him alive!! Strength of spirit? Strength of mind?

The books are a tribute to the child, the man and the good people who helped him along the way.

Summary: A novel that everyone needs to read.
Review: "The lost boy" is a hard hitting novel that will "wake up the masses" to the problems of foster care and the bigottry that foster children are exposed to. This novel follows David, a 12 year old boy who after being liberated from a sadistic mother must learn that allthough his problems with child abuse are now over, his new problems as a foster child have just begun. You will follow David from age 12-18 as he tries to pick up the pieces from his shatted childhood and move on as he goes from foster house to foster house searching for love. A uplifting novel that has a very important message about the foster care system, and the usually unwanted foster children who must endure the scrutiany of those who oppose the foster care system and think that the foster children themselves should be neither seen nor heard. A must read.

Summary: A sad story about an amazing boy.
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Pelzer at an inservice callled through the eyes of a child. The purpose of the inservice was for him, to help us, help abused children in the best way possible. He definetly achieved this and if you ever have the chance to see him please do so. Both of the first two books of the trilogy are wonderful. The first is called, A Child Called It, the other The Lost Boy. These are both short easy to read books and you will not be able to put them down until you finish. These books are written through the the eyes of a child

Summary: A soul-crushing account of a little boy's will to survive.
Review: I have just completed the book, A Child Called "IT." It was a compelling story of unimaginable horror for a boy striving to survive a world of terror at the hands of hideously abusuve parents. Dave's unique spirit and will to survive gives perseverance and strength an entirely new meaning. I cannot even fathom what life was like for Dave. He shares his story with such painful detail that I had to constantly wipe the tears from my face. What kind of mother puts her family through such horror? What is her background and where is she now? Does Dave have any kind of relationship with any of his brothers? Dave, I have so many unanswered questioins about your life. You are an absolute hero in my book! I need to know more!!! I have begun sharing your story with my young children in the hopes of helping to instill in them a compassion and a willingness to always listen from their hearts. You are one in a million, Dave. Is there any chance of getting in touch with you or even meeting with you? You have incredible heart and I'd love to sit and talk with you. My husband is a sergeant and has too many sad stories to share. We need to stop this vicious cycle of abuse. Is there anything that I can do to help? This book was a wake-up call, America!!! Let's love our children so that they can love their future. Thanks for being a survivor, Dave!! You're an inspiration to us all!!!!

Summary: Rare, insightful look thru the eyes of a child in foster care
Review: I have had the experience of reading both "A Child Called It", and "The Lost Boy". These two books take you down the journey of David Pelzer as he experiences his childhood and teen years while learning to overcome the most outrageous and cruel abuse from first his mother, then his father and siblings, school community and at times the bureaucratic system of foster care. However, thw true joy of the books is that they show us how one young boy through courage, strength, his daydreams, and the use of prayer overcame great odds to becomne a shining example of a success. Although it is true that both books leave you with many questions, the foremost one being, what happened to his mother? How was she made to atone for her atrocities? This is to be expected for several reasons. First, the words were those of a child, later an uncertain young adult searching for answers. Second, the entire issue of child abuse, foster care, and society's nonchalant, or often cruel reaction to F-children is a sad but real Truth, and filled with unanswered questions. This book is an inspirational testamonial to the courage that foster children show each and every day. The author's success in the Airforce, in life, and his own family are living examples that he and the foster system beat the odds, if only this one time. Although the books are graphic and at times depressing or evoke tears, the sheer joy felt when David succeeds uplifts your soul. If all they accomplish is to bring awareness to several hundred persons regarding the atrocities of child abuse and the need for involvement with the system, then Pelzer has surpassed any expectations one could have regarding his novels impact. Thank you David, and God Bless you.

Summary: unforgetable
Review: I am in awe that this child who now has become an adult was able to withstand the horrific treatment given to him by his parents. It is so wonderful that this man has shared this story with us and it made me feel as I read it that he survived because he had a great faith. Hats off to David Peltzer a remarkable MAN!!!!
