Rating: Summary: The Lost Boy Review: This book is the second part to a trilogy of a little boys life from the ages of 12-18. I found this book to be sad also. I was happy that Dave was away from the abuse that he had suffered for so many years. In this book above all Dave really wants a place to call home and to be excepted by everyone. Dave was moved from one home to another and went to different schools everytime. That made it difficult to have a real friend or a family to love him. Dave began getting himself in all kinds of trouble to have friends. At one point he was doing a lot of stealing. His own friends or what he thought were friends set him up. Also at another home a friend started a fire and Dave was blamed and thrown in juvenile hall. At this point his mother is still manipulating the system trying to prove that Dave was not sane and that he needed to be in an institution. She was trying to say that all the things that Dave had said the he had made them up. This made me so angry all that was going through my head at this time is what a monster. How can any mother be that evil? At one point Dave ran into his brother Russell. Dave was afraid at first to talk to him but he did. Russell was very happy to see him and as they talked Dave notice that his brother has the same marks on his arms that Dave had had 2 yrs. before. All that Dave wanted to do was to save his brother as he had been saved. Things did not work out the way that Dave wanted them to and he was found by mother and before you know it off to another home. As I read I knew what he was going through I myself was in foster care for about 2 yrs and I had many homes also I could really relate. I just wanted a place to call home right along with him. As i finished this book I still had unanswered questions. Some of my questions from the first book were answered in this one but not the one I really wanted to know the answer to. That question is what were the consequences that the abusive mother recieved for doing this to Dave? I hope that i get my answer in the last book. I think that this book is an excellent book and I would recommend this to anyone that likes to read true life stories. I also believe that this book can be an eye opener to people in our society that these things really do happen and it is up to us to stop it.
Rating: Summary: The Lost Boy Review: The Lost Boy was a great book. The abuse that Dave went through was a great deal of pain and it took a strong person to come out of it and have a life to tell about. He was so lucky to survived the things he went through. I am so glad he got the courage to leave but he was so scared that his mother (the witch) would come after him and beat him. I am so glad he found the women that would that care of him keep him safe from the mother. I feel that a mother that would put a child through that should try to go through the same see if they like it. I bet she could not take the pain that dave went through. I give Dave all the credit in the world although he went through his ups and downs. As a reader I really enjoyed this book although it was hard to read at some points. As a seventeen year old I don't know if I could take the pain Dave went through. I really enjoyed this book and suggest for every one to read it to see the pain some children have to go through.

Rating: Summary: Real Tear Jerker Review: The lost boy was a very inspirational book to foster children. This book was not quite as good as "A child called it." I felt this book was very good in the beginning, but got very boring towards the end. This is a good book for young children from the ages of 10-16 who will be able to appreciate how lucky they have it. The boy in this book shows how easy it is to open up to people you believe care. Thank you for such an inspiring book,I look forward to reading the next one.
Rating: Summary: Inside Abuse Review: I like this book because it was interesting to see what kind of abuses people in the world really go through. This story made me glad my mother dosen't abuse me. I felt sorry for David because his mother was mean to him and didnt love him. I didnt like this book because it was sad too see what everyday life was like for david. i cant believe that people in the world really go through these horrible experiences.
Rating: Summary: Foster Mom's Perspective Review: I am a 31 yr old single foster mother to a 4 yr old boy. By chance I saw "The Lost Boy" in a grocery store & bought it immediately. The insight into the mind of an abused child was invaluable to me. Since then I have purchased and read his other 2 books. The excerpts in the back of the book from the adults involved in Dave's life were especially helpful to me. When things get tough, I go back & re-read them to remind myself that somehow I am impacting my child. I hope that no matter what happens in my little guy's life, that he will remember me in a positive light. These books are painful to read, but shows how it IS possible to beat the odds. I hope that everyone who reads the series becomes more involved in some way, politically, financially or otherwise to make a difference. God bless you Dave.
Rating: Summary: The Lost Boy Review: This book like the first one is great. My favorite part is when the school gets involved and David is taken out of his mothers house. This book has taught me a lot more about foster care than what I knew. I really din't know that kids were juggled aroung so much from foster home to foster home. This book made my emotions go crazy because one second I'm crying the next I'm proud of Dave for standing up or what ever he did. Daves wife and son should be very proud of how well he has turned out and for writing this three wonderful books that are so very popular and full of information that a lot of people might not know about.
Rating: Summary: A Child Called IT Review: I think that the book was great. I couldnt put it down. Dave Palzer is amazing.
Rating: Summary: Will there ever be Justice for abuse? Review: This book is a sequel to the book, "A Child Called It." Like the first book, this one is also a very emotional experience for the reader. I experienced feelings of anger, sadness, and frustration. The first chapter reveals how the first book ended with the boy being rescued from his abusive mother. The proceeding chapters go in depth of the child's life in foster care and institutions, always in search of a loving family to care for him. Whats frustrating about this particular book, and like the first, is that it never reveals any consequences the abusive mother recieved. In fact, in this sequel, she still tries to get to him and continues to manipulate the system. What's appalling is she is allowed to do this with little or no consequences. I feel this book should be read by everyone in order to make anyone who can make a difference in our society aware of this issue. It's my hope that in the last sequel, it reveals some of the consequences the abuser recieves to put closure to this issue. Thats why, I feel, the reader feels so frustrated and helpless. These are excellent books by Dave Pelzer. I highly recommend them.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: After reading A Child Called It, I of course, had to read Lost Boy. Though, I was very happy to see David got away from his mother, I was more compelled to learn that the school system got involved, finally! Being in foster care itself, can't be a easy task, i.e. living out of a paper sack with the only prized possessions he ever owned, but not knowing from moment to moment if you are going to be pulled out of that home. This book is one of those books that you just can't put down, you have to turn the page to see how David pulls through each situation. Don't pick up this book if you don't have a few hours to spend starting and finishing this book. It is a MUST read! I have purchased A Man Named Dave and have begun to read it. This series is compelling!
