Summary: The Worst Book Ever
Review: I thought that Skellig wasnt that good because it was boring and unoriginal, like a disney film. It the typical concept: boy goes to new place, boy finds mysterious object, boy makes friends with object, boy tells friend about object, object leaves. I think that it is boring. We have been reading it in class and every one else enjoyed it, so i think some people might like it, i also dont understand why it won the whitbread and coarnigie awards, i would rate it: Originality:2/10(it has some of this) Excitement:0/10(quick, we need life support!) Lifespan:0/10(beep, beep, beeeeeeeeee(dies)

Summary: Skellig Book Review
Review: The book Skellig has all the things a great book should have:
-Interesting Storyline
-Brilliant characters
-images that are given vividly.
I thought this book was excellent- I'd never heard of it before and thought it might be boring. I would definately reccommend it to a friend because it is full of adventure and excitement.
The story line is of a heavenly bird helping 2 children in desperate needs is both extraordinary and fascinating this is why it's a great book that won an award.
The characters of Mina and Michael are 2 children who were pretty normal to start with. Then they met Skellig.
They learn such a lot from him and their boring lives suddenly change rapidly. Just finding Skellig gave them a shock the way their feelings, emotions and actions are described i can actually see the scene- picture the movements.
It gives suspence, surprise and sudden changes of atmosphere and story line- David Almond really knows how to capture a readers attention!

Summary: title smitle...here's the review
Review: Skellig is an interesting book. If you're used to characters that are really engaging, this book only has one, and it's not the main character. It's the atmosphere of this book that helps elevate it to a four star review. It feels surreal, and perhaps, this is why the main character left me dissapointed (a bit mind you) in his personality. He seems to be drifting along, and skellig, is the anchor that helps him from drifting away from things. His infant sister is in ill health, and when he discovers skellig, a little magic is introduced to his life, as is a way to bond with a peculiar, home schooled, neighbor girl. I shouldn't be so heavy handed with the main character's lack of vitality, because I think he's supposed to be one you can easily put yourself in, and in a book as spiritual as skellig, that's what is needed. Give it a shot if you think nature is...mysterious.

Summary: This book stinks
Review: From my point of view Skellig was horrible. First of all, it was so boring; I wanted to put it down after the first few pages. Also, the characters weren't normal. They were weird. Lastly, there weren't any good problems or any antagonists. That is why Skellig was a horrible book

Summary: Skellig
Review: Skellig is about a boy named Michael who has so many things to worry about. He is moving into a new house and his baby sister is sick. The new house is falling apart and his baby sister is in the hospital. Michael doesn't know what's wrong with her. All he knows is that her life is in jeopardy. He meets his neighbor who is about the same age as him. Her name is Mina, and she is home schooled. While exploring the house, Michael discovers something in the garage, some sort of man. Every night he brings the man leftovers and Aspirin.
One day he shows Mina the man and she is fascinated. The man says his name is Skellig. Mina says she has something to show him, too. She takes him to an abandoned house and shows him two owls that live in the attic. Mina and Michael meet at night and visit Skellig. They try and find out what he is, but he just tells them to go away. Will the baby survive? Will Mina and Michael discover who or what is Skellig? Read this book to find out.
I wouldn't know how Michael feels, because although I have moved, I don't have a little sister, and both my older sisters are very healthy. I can relate to Michael in one way, though I too like to explore, and I also am adventurous. I loved Skellig; my favorite part is the end.
I recommend this exciting book to all people who enjoy good mysteries. It's filled with suspenseful twists and turns. I like the characters because they are realistic. Their feelings change throughout the book. Michael's character changed from being a boy interested only in sports to one who is also interested in nature. Once started, no one can put Skellig down. Skellig is a must read.

Summary: A Book to Make You Look Deeper Into Life
Review: The book 'Skellig' by David Almond is a wonderful book that fits a big age group. The younger readers will like the mystery, and the older readers will like how it makes you look deeper into life. This book is about a family who moves into a new house that they're going to fix up. Their son, Michael, meets a girl named Mina and they become close friends and hang out together most of the time. Together they go exploring and they find a body that they think is dead and has cobwebs and bluebottles all over it. When they take the jacket off the body, named Skellig, they find out that he has wings underneath. Michael's sister is sick and has to have a heart surgery right away to save her life. If the surgery doesn't work, Joy won't live. There are three main reasons why I would recommend this book. First, it has great suspense that always keeps you on the edge of you seat. Throughout part of the book, I was wondered whether the baby was going to live or not. When they do a sudden heart surgery, they add even more suspense! Second, this book is the child adventure that you dreamed of, by finding a mysterious 'thing' in your garage that turns out to be alive and you end up taking care of it. Mina and Michael always snuck out to the garage to feed him because he was so stiff he couldn't move. Third, this book makes you look deeper into life and shows you that everything has a purpose and meaning. Skellig's purpose in the book isn't to provide Michael and Mina excitement and adventure; it's also to show them the power of love.

Summary: 4-, 3+ Pretty Good
Review: While "Skellig" delivered little in the ways of suspense, I did find it entirely engrossing. In fact, I finished the novel in one night, simply because the plot was refreshingly unique. I don't think I've quite seen another novel quite alike, which is very complimentary these days. After all, word is there's not an original idea left in the world of literature.

Why four stars? Well, I was tempted to give it five, or maybe a three. All because of Mina, who befriends are main character. Although she was very interesting at first, I found her to get quite annoying. She hardly acts realistic, and everything to her is some amazing artistic masterpiece. This would have been a very good character, had the author delivered it better. She nearly stripped the story of its realism.

Summary: Fascinating
Review: This book is VERY interesting and original. Skellig (the character) is an amazing creation, and unlike most fictional creatures you'd be hard pressed to find anything like him in another book. The story itself revolves around finding and learning about the character Skellig, and on the side there is a problem with Michael's (the main character's) baby sister. Even though that doesn't sound like much of a storyline, it actually moves very quickly and holds interest.

My only complaint would be the writing style. It has very little description, so little that at times it is easy to lose track of where characters are and what's around them, and it can be difficult to tell who is talking when dialogue appears.

But all in all, I would definitely recommend this book.
