Summary: A GREAT BOOK WITH FUTURE POSSIBILITIES
Review: Redemption was the first Beverly Lewis book I have read and I absolutely loved it. Having lived next to an Amish community I do understand some of that which goes on. The book was very realistic as far as Amish customs goes. The character of Sarah Cain was at first very disturbing as she was so conceided but I liked the gradual change that is seen in her throughout the book. Excellent and recommend to those who are religious and enjoy reading about the Amish Community.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The book wasn't incredibly, horribly, wall-bangingly bad, but I was very disappointed-both with how the story did not live up to its plot potential and when comparing it to some of the author's other work. Sarah Cain, who I assume is supposed to be the main character, is not life-like. She is stereotypical, flat, and I could not admire her. She is the career woman obsessed with stuff. Fine. But the obsession with stuff is ponded over and over into the hapless reader's head. Sarah is obsessed with buying stuff. Sarah is obsessed with buying stuff. Sarah is obsessed with buying stuff. The other characters fared somewhat better, but again they did not seem life-like, with the possible exception of Lydia. Sarah's boyfriend became almost non-existent after the first few chapters, which was disappointing since he seemed like a nice person and I liked him. The writing style was fine and the plot (what existed of it-it was obviously an uphill climb for it to survive and prosper and GROW) was decent (and extremely predictable)-nice details and such- but without good characters to carry it off it just didn't work for me. I also considered the ending to be rather unrealistic and not in character-although also regretfully predictable. Lewis has done better. Hopefully she will again.

Summary: An easy and sometimes dull read
Review: This book is outlined on the back cover. Read it, you've read the book. I tried to endure every word but was bored by the content so I started flipping through. Ending was sappy and too quickly resolved. This is my first book by this author and I'm afraid I need something a little more action packed. I didn't care for Sarah and wondered why Bryan had put up with her all these years. The whole story seems far-fetched.

Review: This was another great Beverly Lewis based on the life of the Amish. I am fascinated with the Amish. This story is about Sarah Cain whose widowed sister dies living behind 5 young children and requests Sarah as guardian to raise the children. Sarah and Ivy were not raised Amish but Ivy and her husband had joined the New-Order Amish. Sarah is a big city gal with a career and must choose between her familiar lifestyle and a much different life in Lancaster County. During this time she must work through many issues that have been troubling her for years. Reading this book is further insight into the Amish lifestyle and the children is this book are enjoyable and inspirational.

A wonderful book about overcoming past tragedy and understanding what family really means.
