Rating: Summary: A little dissapointed! Review: I own all the ramona books and have read them over and over again since grade school. Before I read ramonas world, I went through and read all the previous books in order starting from beezus and ramona, when ramona is in nursery school, through to ramona forever and then ramona's world. In Ramona's world, it seems as though Cleary has not delved too deep into Ramona's thought process and feelings as she does in other books. Furthermore, there seems to be a huge jump in personalities among all the characters from ramona forever to ramonas world. In certain parts of the book it almost seems as some of the things ramona and daisy feel/think are almost too mature for 9-10 year olds. Beezus is also much more outgoing and quite a bit more snippy towards ramona then she has been in previous books where she is quiet, sensible, and always with her nose in a book. Although Cleary is trying to show how these kids are growing up, Ramona's world is much too sudden a jump. The book does not introduce a gradual transition for Beezus and Ramona in attitudes and maturity. Also Yard ape, who in Ramona age 8 was a gum smacking, ball kicking, getting into trouble type of kid, is now quiet and very smart, and suddenly very nice.Lastly, another aspect of the book which sets it apart from the others, is that in previous ramona books, Cleary mostly tells the story in the 3rd person perspective, whereas in Ramona's world, it is mostly in the 2nd person perspective which explains why it reads so differently from previous books.
Rating: Summary: Ramona's World Review: Ramona's World is one of Beverly Cleary's best Ramona books. Ramona is just a regular girl growing up. She is in 4th grade in this book and she has some trouble with kids but in the end she figures them out. I think that Ramona is just like some of the girls I knew in 4th grade. She's even kind of like me! I also think that Ramona is a role model to some people. This book is very easy to read and I would reccomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Great to be back Review: Count me amongst the Gen Xers who inhaled these books when we were young! I remembered Cleary stating that "Ramona Forever" would be the last of the series, so imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon the Beverly Cleary website and found that there was a new book I hadn't read. For the most part, I was satisfied. What felt good was seeing someone FINALLY understand and empathize with Ramona. Usually it seemed as though she was the oddball, the wild mess amongst neater, quieter kids like Susan and Howie, someone who caught the disapproving eye of grown-ups on a regular basis. But in this book, not only does she finally get a laid back best friend with an even more laid back family, but she comes out looking good compared to Susan. That may be one reason other readers find it more difficult to empathize with her -- because Ramona's point of view no longer seems so unusual. I agree that something felt off, and part of it had to do with the rather cardboard presentations of Mr. and Mrs. Quimby. In a modern twist, Mrs. Quimby belongs to a book club... but whatever happened to her dilemma about taking time off of work to care for the baby? The loveable Mr. Quimby is barely there -- all I recall is his joking statement to Beezus that he was surprised she didn't get her nose pierced, too. What happened to his management position at the frozen food wearhouse? How does he feel about not getting to teach art classes? To fit in information about every character, it almost seems as though the book would have had to be twice as long. Some updating was inevitable, but I'm thankful Cleary never actually had Beezus and Ramona surfing the Internet. Beezus's dilemma about getting her ears pierced, though, felt quite retro in this day of "anything goes" piercing. My hope is that Cleary might squeeze out a few more books in the series. I would love to see Ramona's reaction to Beezus driving.
Rating: Summary: This book has a lot of comedy. Review: Do you like Beverly Cleary books? If you do then you will like Ramona's World. It's about a girl named Ramona Quimby and her family. She has a big sister named Beatrice but everyone calls her Beezus. Also she has a baby sister named Roberta who was just born. She made a new best friend, Daisy, who gives her lots of information about school, and never makes fun of anyone. It has a lot of comedy and really made me laugh! For example,Ramona went to Daisy's house to play dress up and she fell through the top of the ceiling. I hope you you realy like this book,I did!
Rating: Summary: Lawn Monkey Review: Ramona's World by: Beverly Cleary is a very good book! Ramona is eight years old and thinks that her fourth grade year is going to be GREAT!!! Once she meets her teacher and figures out that she has the kind of teacher that is TERRIFIC at spelling, she thinks the very opposite! Now she thinks that she pretty much knows it's going to be a not so GREAT year for her. She has no friends except the dorky guy next door named "Howie". Then she meets her new best friend Daisy! Daisy and Ramona teach each other alot! Daisy teaches Ramona about school and how to spell. Ramona helps out Daisy by showing her around her new school. Ramona finally figures out that her fourth grade year isn't too bad after all. She gets a valentine from the guy that she likes alot named "yard ape" and she meets her new best friend. She also finds out that her teacher Mrs. Meacham doesn't hate her after all and that she can spell. I liked this book alot because it is about normal kids and what it is like growing up. Ramona gets herself into some situations that every kid can relate to. She's a "goofy" everyday girl that likes to have fun with her classmates. I would recommend this book to other kids my age because it's funny. It is a good read!

Well then this is the book for you' by Beverly Cleart Ramona's World! Ramona's sister gets her ears pierced and Ramona is like well what if i got my ears pierced what would they think? Her little sister gets everthing and when she cry's her mom gets her and Ramona has to get her she hates it! I really like thiis book and if you are stuck in the middle all the time you should read this !
Rating: Summary: It wasn't like the others... Review: Ramona's World was a good book, but it just wasn't like the others. Also, it said that Ramona went to Cederhurst for fourth grade. Since Cederhust was turned into a primary school (meaning grades first thru third) in RAMONA QUIMBY, AGE 8, she would go back to Glenwood, the intermediate school (meaning grades four thru six) for fourth grade. What happened to that?
Rating: Summary: Ramona world fun story Review: I like the book of Ramona World, because it was a fun book to read. I like the part when Ramona goes to Daisy's house and they play dress up. Some parts of the book, did not have a lot of information. I did not enjoy the ending because it was boring. I give the book four stars and I think others should read it.
Rating: Summary: Ramona's World by Beverly Cleary Review: Her sister wanted to put earrings, but she was really little so her mom said no to her and then she went to the mall and she got the earrings and her mom punished her. She learned her lesson. It's a great book!
Rating: Summary: Roberta is so cute Review: I was sooooo happy when this book finally came out; I'd been waiting ten years! Coincidentally, Ramona celebrates her tenth birthday in this story. (I found it interesting that the only birthday parties in the whole series were for Beezus' tenth and Ramona's tenth. The author must perceive age 10 to be very important.) Although I don't think this book has quite as much punch as the others, it's a wonderful conclusion to one of the best series of the twentieth century.
