Summary: The original masterpiece
Review: "Curious George" used bolder and more colors than most picture books of its day. It remains a bright work full of wonderful facial expressions. Children will identify with the childish monkey with the good heart and natural hubris. I love the way this first one throws in details that would be prohibited today, like when George has "a good pipe" before going to bed!

Summary: One of my family's favorites!
Review: Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it merely inconveniences the monkey. George always finds something intriguing to do, or look at or pick up, and it always leads to trouble. Luckily for him, people have a soft spot for curious little monkeys, so he never gets in too much trouble, at least not for very long.

In the first book, George's inquiring mind is responsible for his capture in Africa, and his trouble while staying with the man in the yellow hat. George watches the man pick up the phone, dial a few numbers, and talk to someone on the other end. Naturally, as soon as the man leaves George alone (big mistake), George decides to go dialing on his own. He calls the fire department, and they send over an engine and a squad of firefighters. They are none too pleased to discover it's a false alarm, and drag George off to jail. He escapes and has a few more adventures before the man with the yellow hat catches up with him. Then it's off to the zoo for George, until the next book anyway.

I'm convinced my three-year-old kid with the yellow hair is George's soulmate. He's dialed the fire department , too (although he had the benefit of speed dial), and we can't turn our back on him for a second or he gets into all kinds of trouble. No wonder George is one of his favorites!

Summary: As a Child I Liked This Book!
Review: Curious George by H.A. Rey, what Can I say? I absolutely loved this book as a child and the rest of the books in this series. This is the first book and it's a good one and I thought that little monkey George was so cute and the way he was always getting into mischief was so funny and I highly recommend this and all of the Curious George books.

Summary: ben dover from waynes world
Review: Curious George is a humourous fiction book. Ole curious george gets in trouble over and over again. first falling off the ship, calling 911, flying away on balloons, until the tall man pulls the little monkey out of trouble.H.A. Rey uses words and sentences to create a picture in my head. The book was funny and humourous. This book is more for kids under 8.

Summary: Curious George
Review: Curious George is about a monkey who was moved from his home in Africa to live in the zoo. When he gets to America he has all kinds of problems because ,as the title tells us,he is curious. In the end though George makes it to the zoo. This is a good book because it talks about all the trouble you can get into for being to curious like George.

Summary: Curiously Racist
Review: Curious George was a favorite of my wife's, and a good friend purchased an edition for our 2-year-old. After a couple readings, however, it became very clear that Curious George has the same exact story line, less than thinly disguised, that White Southerners used to tell about African Southerners. A relic from a bygone era, its continuing popularity is no doubt related to its consistent use of our always popular traditional conservative American prejudice and ignorance.

Summary: My daughter's favorite book
Review: Curious George was one of my favorites as a child, and this book has become an obsession for my three-year old. At a time when her own curiosity has gotten her in some deep waters (literally, on one occasion), George has helped her understand her own curiosity -- and it's helped me as a parent remember how curious I was myself. You can't go wrong with Curious George!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A delightfully written account of mischief and fun
Review: Despite the colonialist/imperialist undercurrents, which was acceptable for the time the book was published, this is a marvelous tale of mischief, hard-knocks and learning. This book allows children to see that it is acceptable to make mistakes and still be deserving of love and understanding. To the reviewer in Ann Arbor, MI: it is fabulous that you are passionate about something, to hate is almost to love.
