Rating: Summary: Brilliant...but... Review: The only reason I donot rate Until You in 5 stars is the ending plot. From the first page, the story soared to when Sheridan was rebuked by her almost bethroted. And... I stil cannot comprehend it... just that it fell kind of flat to the end. An exciting flat but suddenly Judith couldn't wait to finsh the story. I was hoping for the heart wrenching conciliation between the hero and the heroine, but I guess it is because Judith respect the heroine's too strong character that the ending to be just that. Want to know?? Read it.. trully it's a beautiful story and you might not think it is flat at the end...
Rating: Summary: Just the book that will not let you sleep! Review: It's been so long since I read a romantic book with beliavable characters who do not act silly and still they can pull the string of your heart with their romantic gestures. This is the very first book I read from Mcnaught, and I promise myself to read WHITNEY, MY LOVE and ALMOST HEAVEN after this. The story is quiet long.. but believe me, it is not boring.. it is real.. it communicates the meaning and feeling Sheridan and Stephen are really thinking. Read it.....
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I love all of McNaught's historicals. This is no exception.
Rating: Summary: My all time favorite romance!!! Review: I have to admit it. I also fall for the amnesia plot every time. Like all her other books, I go back to this one whenever another author has let me down. The only author that I own every single book and have not taken any into the used book store in exchange for a new one. No other authors can compete. If you enjoy Julia Quinn or Catherine Coulter, then you will LOVE Judith McNaught. Her characters and plot are even more lovable.
Rating: Summary: What happened to Stephen!? Review: THE BAD: Stephen Westmorland appears in "Whitney, My Love" as the extremely entertaining younger brother of Clayton. He reminded me of Bobby Tom Denton, my favorite Susan Elizabeth Phillips hero (Heaven, Texas). In other words Stephen was unique from most heroes in his ability to smile and laugh at something other than the heroine. He had an over abundnce of charm that lead to outrageous dialogue. Much to my dismay McNaught morphed Stephen into the same dark and surly character that is the status quo of the romance hero. Burned once by love and he became sullen, withdrawn and worst of all BORING. I found myself greatly disappointed that in order to be the hero he must lose all personality and gain massive wealth and title. THE GOOD: In all fairness, had Stephen not caught my attention so completely in the first novel I would have enjoyed this novel thoroughly. The story is engaging and beautifully written. I'm always a sucker for a good amnesia plot and McNaught managed to make this one more believable than most. Since I am still pouting over the abrupt change in Stephen's character I have rated this item lower than I normally would have. All that aside I would rate it among McNaught's better novels. I strongly recommend "Once and Always", "Paradise", "Whitney, My Love", and "Something Wonderful". Who am I kidding, I pretty much recommend her entire bookshelf.
Rating: Summary: Fun to read. Good love story. Review: I recommend this book. It is a good story- fun to read, though there were times that I could have knocked Stephen in the head for the way he was acting. But this is a good love story, even though I was worried if Stephen was going to swallow his pride at the end of the story. It had me sweating a little bit there at the end- but he came through. I recommend reading this one and I look forward to going back now and reading "Whitney My Love" to learn about some of Stephen's family members.
Rating: Summary: Read it! Review: I loved this book. Couldn't stop reading it and had my sister reading it days later. It is a true love story and the plot is suspenseful since there are many encounters and conflicts that will keep you page turning in Stephen's story of love. I did read this, however, before I even read "Whitney, My Love." I write this because, it may jade your perception if you've already read one of the two. I read "Whitney, My Love" thereafter and enjoyed it as well but not so much because some of the scenes and character traits were duplicated between brothers. Otherwise, either one is a wonderful page-turner!
Rating: Summary: A great read, but....... Review: After reading "Kingdom of Dreams", and "Whitney, my Love" I ordered this because I really wanted to read Stephen's story, and see what became of Whitney and Clayton, but I wasn't expecting to like it nearly as well as the first two. I fell in love with Sheridan in the first chapter. I think she is my favorite heroine of any romance I've ever read. I wasn't sure how someone of her background would fit into Regency England, but she did, and so refreshingly! I also loved how their relationship developed. She didn't have them falling in love at first site, it developed and blossomed throughout the book. For most of the book, I couldn't believe how much I was enjoying it, I thought I was going to love it best of all of the Westmoreland stories. Until the end. I was soooooo disappointed with how Stephen treated her. How he could go from loving her so completely to offering for her to be his mistress was infuriating, I wanted to slap him. Then, if you'll notice, he never actually tells her "I love you". He wants her to mother his children, be his wife, take his name, etc, etc, but not once does he say "I love you". Also it left you wondering for quite a while if he would get rid of his mistress, and I must say I still have my doubts! I gave it 4 stars because I completely LOVED 90% of the book, and I think Sheridan is such a well-rounded character, plus getting to see Whitney and Clayton again was great fun, but I'd really rather give it 31/2 because I was so frustrated by the ending.
Rating: Summary: First mcnaught book read Review: After reading this book. i went out and practically have ordered all of her books. But, there are quite a number of them so I haven't gotten them all yet. This book was that good. I loved the characters. and the story ran so smoothly. Although, as i am sure in most books there could be some changes made. I really liked Stephen's character up until near the end where he does something very shameful. But, he of course fixes that. I wish they could of made Stephen's mistress into a story where she falls in love. She is a great character. I could just imagine what a great tale she would have!!!
Rating: Summary: This was my very first JM book... Review: And it made me devour the rest of JM's books! She is a wonderful author, and Until You is one of my very favorite books. Stephen is a bit of a tough guy throughout the story, SO different from how he is in Whitney, My Love, but he is still very much the romantic hero. Sheridan is my second favorite female character, after Whitney, and she is the perfect match for Stephen. Their story is very sweet and extremely romantic. Stephen may never say the words, "I love you," but what he tells Sherry at the end is just as romantic. Take my word for it: this book is a must read!
