Rating: Summary: This squadron grabs your attention. Review: The new wraith squadron developed under Wedge Antilles captures your attention with the new aspect of specialized ground crew. They are absolutely amazing. You'll love it. Keep Reading...
Rating: Summary: Restoring disorder to the galaxy. Review: Though it's nice to run into Jedi Knights, rogues who end up marrying princesses, and villains who can choke you with the Force, there's so much OTHER galaxy out there. That's where most of us belong, and that's where Wraith Squadron takes us. The OTHER parts of the galaxy had just as much to do with the victory of the New Republic as Luke, Han, and Leia. Pilots like Wedge. Mechanics like Cubber. Commandos like Kell. Snipers like Donos. Slicers like Grinder. Doctors like Phanan. And, yes, even actors like Face. Fighting the OTHER bad guys - a petty warlord instead of an Emperor. An Interceptor ace instead of a black-helmeted Sith... there were more TIEs than Vaders in the Empire, right? And when the spotlight falls on these OTHER parts of the galaxy, it's easier to get absorbed in the story (which, by the way, Allston tells very well) because... hey, these guys, while misfits and exceptional in their own ways, are more like us! Friends and fun - with a few problems to make life interesting... what more could you ask for? Wraith Squadron doesn't set out to conquer or liberate the galaxy - just to jiggle a few sectors and make a wonderful little mess. The Star Wars novel for the rest of us, and the most fun ever written. More to follow. Great job, Mr. Allston.
Rating: Summary: Finally, the one I've been looking for. Review: I read some of the other reviews people have given this book, and was surprisingly pleased to discover that everyone noticed one thing that I did. The Humor! Seriously, sometimes this book had me gasping for air I was laughing so hard. Especially the whole thing with Wedge, Myn, and (I forgot who the third guy was) dressing up as idiots and acting like ditzes, with that head bobbing thing. I never thought I'd say this but wraiths and rougues are better than Luke because they can save the galaxy and have fun at the same time! The best new character in this book, (in my opinion) was Face for one main reason. I am an artist (a violinist), and I've always wondered, don't they have artistic people in the galaxy? I mean talent isn't just limited to being strong in the force, and hitting things bullseye with a blaster. That's what I liked most about Grand Admiral Thrawn, he appreciated the beauty of art. But when I found out Face was an actor, I was so excited. And his role was so helpful and important too. Thank you Aaron Allston! Also, I'm glad that Allston stuck so close to Stackpole's style, to make the books feel more like a series. The switching often between the characters, and having such a wide range, and letting us get to know a lot of new people. I think that's what I like the most about the X-wing books.
Rating: Summary: "yub yub" awesome series this wraith squadron... Review: The new Wraith Squadron series by Allston is the most enjoyable (excluding all Zahn), emotion evoking, and action-packed series I have ever had the privlege to read. The characters and their shenanigans are well thought out, and the action unfolds nicely. (Sometimes unpredictably...which is a plus!) Mr. Allston...thank you and may the Force be with you. "Yub yub, author"!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Exciting and funny. A must-read for X-wing fans. Review: In the original four books from the X-Wing series we got a fresh story with completely new characters to whom we soon felt attached. Wraith Squadron continues that tradition by presenting us an unusual group of upstarts who have to battle their own personal problems at the same time they help in the fight against the Empire, proving their true worth. Being a silly guy myself, I especially loved the duo of Ton Phanan and Face. Don't overlook this book, you'll find yourself laughing and maybe even feeling a knot forming in your throat as you enjoy this story.
Rating: Summary: I really enjoyed it. Review: It is about Wedge Antilles's controversial new squadron. The squad gets more interesting as the story progresses. Unlike all the other star wars books, this one is very humorous.
Rating: Summary: Yub, yub, Commander! Review: For all those people who though Corran Horn was two steps away from attaining God-hood. While I absolutely adored the original X-Wing series (the covers are falling off), I feel that this is a much more realistic, believable unit.
Rating: Summary: Wraiths are even cooler than Rogues! Review: Okay, they may not have quite the same piloting skill as the Rogues (who does?), but the Wraiths are just as fun to read about. At first, I was concerned about this extension to the X-wing series. I loved the first four, and I thought that's all there was going to be. When I saw Wraith Squadron, several things went through my mind. 1. It's not about the Rogues... crap. 2. It's not by Stackpole... darn. 3. Why couldn't they just leave well enough alone after four books? Needless to say, my attitude changed 180 degrees when I started reading Wraith Squadron. The characters are so lively and real, you find yourself caring deeply for their well-being. The action is intense, and includes much more than just space battles. However, the icing on the cake is the humor. With many Star Wars books, I wondered if they had ever watched the Trilogy and noticed that part of the charm is the humor. Allston sure knew what he was doing, and catapulted himself from someone I never heard of to one of my favorite Star Wars authors. Rather than a lot of series where the quality decreases as the books keep coming, the X-wing series is soaring higher and higher with each volume. I love it!
Rating: Summary: Great book, makes me happy to be an X-wing fan. Review: This is a great book. I love it! I've read it's sequel, too, Iron Fist, and I think it's outstanding. I love all the X-wing books
Rating: Summary: Return of Wedge Antilles Review: The new series by Allston offers almost as much action as Stackpole's original four, but Allston manages to add more humor and therefore reality to the situations in which the characters find themselves. A great read, I enjoyed it immensely.
