Summary: very poorly done, shallow characters and unclimatic ending
Review: I drive a lot so I buy many audio books to enjoy during the long drives. This book is just one of a few really bad ones that I wish I had spent money on something more worthwhile. You have a feeling that the book was hastily put together to make money. Of the few characters in the book, you can easily guess what happened. And most of the characters are shallow and faceless. At the book's ending, you'll find yourself asking, 'is that it?'

Summary: Not That Bad!
Review: Okay, it is not The Firm or The Client, but why should it be?
Grisham IS a good writer and I have to say that I enjoyed this book a lot. I found myself eager to get back to it. No two books are ever the same and why do people think an author has to always repeat previous successes, (such as Daphne du Maurier and her Rebecca). Give Grisham a break and his new book! A nice read.

Summary: Don't even think about buying this book.
Review: Don't even think about wasting your time or money on this book. I vow to never again read another Grisham book again. The book is dull all the way through and I didn't find myself feeling anything for any of the characters. This book has by far the worst ending of any book that I can recall reading. I am going to end my review at this time because I can only think of terrible things to say about this book.

Summary: the summons
Review: This is a most disappointing book. It is really badly written , the characters never come to life and are thoroughly unlikeable.
I gave my copy away to a friend who liked Grisham's earlier books, warned her she may be very disappointed. BORING!

Summary: Not his worst - not his best
Review: Oh boy, some reviewers do get up tight when Grisham doesn't quite perform for them! Personally, though The Summons was certainly not Grisham's best book, I would rather shell out some hard earned cash for this one than for A Painted House Skips Christmas in a Chamber! Those three were garbage compared to Grisham's other stuff.

This one was just average... an average story written in an average way. Okay, admittedly, from about halfway through, it was fairly obvious whodunit. The only questions that remained were how Pop got the money in the first place, and why hewhodunit was doin' it. But even so, it was a fairly even-paced read that didn't use up too much brain power.

Maybe Grisham isn't quite performing as he might, but even minor gods can have bad book days. If you've got enough money in your pocket to buy The Summons and a couple of other books - go for it! If you're a bit short and the rent's not paid, I'd suggest you look for something more certain.

Summary: Not Quite Up To Par
Review: I was sorely disappointed in the latest legal thriller of John Grisham's The Summons. No depth at all and very predictable. It seems like he was in a hurry to get this book out. I enjoyed Skipping Christmas it was a delightful short read and the Painted House was alright too. I have liked nearly all of his books except this one. Whats up John? Lost your touch? I rather wait 2-3 years for a really good book than so-so run of the mill ones every year.

Summary: Boring read
Review: This book was boring and predictable. The relationships between the characters were not believable, and characters that had no link to the story were introduced, for no good reason.
If I didn't know who the author was, I would bet that it was written by a newcomer who "knew someone" at a publishing house and therefore got the book off the ground, but alas it was Grisham. What a shame.

Summary: Waste of Time & Money
Review: If you are going to read John Grisham books, try The Firm, The Pelican Brief and The Client - books written after these will be disappointing - so find a new legal thriller author.

The Summons did absolutely nothing for me - boring. Street Lawyer - boring. And the others were so boring I forgot their titles.

Sheldon Siegel's Special Circumstances is worth a read.

Summary: So much for the expectations !!
Review: I bought this book on the first day of its release as I always do for John Grisham books ,and initially i even enjoyed it...but the end was anti-climactic..!!
I loved his Painted House and Skipping Christmas and all his past books (except The street lawyer) but this was disappointing !
I wish he writes more books and better books.
I'll still buy his next one as soon as he is done with it..!

Summary: Not much suspense, no humor and a
Review: simplistic and boring plot. If this were Grisham's first effort at a suspense novel it would not have been published. I love Grisham, but he is either running out of ideas or energy. If I didn't know better I would think someone else wrote it. Not worth the price in hardcover or paper back (when it comes out).
