Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: At this point I've read five out of the eight novels written by Eric Jerome Dickey. This one isn't my favorite, but it's a solid book. I liked how he told the story from the perspective of several different characters, however this one is a little formulaic to me since he does the character change thing in two other novels that I've read (Liar's Game, Friends and Lovers). Still, this is a good book. It has some great life lessons for people who think that they are "players". It gives women a realistic peek into the lives of cheating men. My personal favorites by Dickey (thus far) are Between Lovers and (my ultimate favorite) The Other Woman. I look forward to future novels by Dickey. He's definitely one of my favorite writers.

Rating: Summary: ysamy1 Review: By now, I've read all of EDJ's books and am a hugh fan. Cheater's however, was the ultimate, my favorite, and absolutely off the hook. The story was completely engrossing from the first through the last sentence. I hated for the story to end, algthough he brought it to a very satisfying conclusion. As the book cover synoposis explains, the story revolves around the African-American dating scene in L.A., and the trials and tribulations associated with loving them and leaving them on the one hand and finding someone for a one-on-one relationship on the other. It also deals with personal growth and the consequences associated with two people who are either on the same page in terms of their goals and/or are growing together or growing apart (with respect to dreams, plans, aspirations). Lastly, it deals with stunted emotional growth and the personal hell people put themselves and others through as they struggle to deal with their inner pain and/or short-comings. Dickey's treatment of all of the scenerios he creates was truly gifted. The book is funny, serious, poignant, sexy, hot and irresistably engrossing. Dickey should no longer be compared to Terry McMillian (Exhale). He has raised the bar and created the NEW standard in depicting meaningful Africian-American relationships, and penning stories that help us see ourselves, enjoy ourselves and perhaps learn something about ourselves along the way. I'm looking forward to the movie, too! Thanks again, EDJ. I'm eagerly awaiting your next book!

Rating: Summary: A lot of fun! Review: CHEATERS by Eric Jerome Dickey CHEATERS was my introduction to the writing of Eric Jerome Dickey. I found it a refreshing novel, taking the reader into the world of hip affluent African Americans living in Southern California. In CHEATERS, Dickey uses three voices: Stephan Mitchell, who is single and can't seem to be faithful to just one woman. He juggles a number of women, all of them oblivious to this fact, and so far he's doing ok with it. So Far. Then there is Chante Ellis. She's single too, and also seems to have problems with the opposite sex. And finally there is Darnell, the lawyer who wants to be a writer. He's married, but not happily, and his wife probably feels the same way. Through these three, we get to know each of them but also are introduced to some of their friends and lovers. Stephan's latest conquest is Toyomi, an African-Japanese-American woman who was becoming very needy. This didn't bode too well for Stephan, as he was also trying to spend some time with his other women. Toyomi soon becomes the b***h from hell, when she catches him saying "yes" to her best friend on the phone. I found myself chuckling as the battle between Stephan and Toyomi got uglier and uglier. Stephan's best friends are Darnell and Jake, who is single but is engaged to be married to the lovely Charlotte. There is an obvious problem with the relationship, as Jake and Charlotte evade questions to "when are you getting married"? Chante's got two best friends: Karen, who seems to be a very negative person and also seems to have a cash flow problem. Tammy is their famous beautiful singer/actress friend. The three of them are tight, but their friendship starts to weaken when their true colors start to show. Through a twist of fate, Chante and Stephan meet, and they bring their worlds and their friends together. Chante and Stephan appear to be perfect for each other, or are they? And Darnell meets Tammy and they find out they are kindred spirits. It's too bad he's married... I really enjoyed CHEATERS. It was a combination of his writing style, his characters, and the outrageous story lines that had me laughing out loud as I read. I am looking forward to reading more by Eric Jerome Dickey. My next book will probably be MILK IN MY COFFEE.
Rating: Summary: very good Review: Cheaters is a good book and i know the play will be great. the way the characters meet up is unexpected. the game, the lies, the purpose of love and the was it's found is very twisted in this book. it's a definite must read.
Rating: Summary: Cheaters Review: Cheaters is the first book by Mr. Dickey which I've read. It's truly a SUPERB piece of work, and I literally can't wait to read everything he has written! Once I started reading this book, I would of never put it down, if it wasn't for those few hours of sleep I needed at night. Even with all the "cheating" going on, I found the main characters to be engaging, easy to relate to, and their situations mesmerizing. The detail in the erotic scenes captivated me; for the simple fact that Mr. Dickey kept it intense & HOTT! That was a refreshing change from other African-American fiction I've read which seemed to be, ummmmmm, devoid of sexual imagery. As if.......... Anyway, in closing, I would just like to thank Mr. Dickey for keeping it funky and also the enjoyable trip he took me on! PLEASE don't make us wait too long to see, CHEATERS, THE MOVIE!
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL JOB EJD Review: Cheaters was a great book. It showed how modern couples are today. Every character was a sort of cheater in their life. This book had lust, love, and adultry. It was a well written book were E.D.J really showed his emotions of how hard it is to find someone now in days. This book has a lot of distrust and complementes the way men and women both distrust eachother. E.J.D did a great job I can't wait to read the next book.
Rating: Summary: CHEATERS....CHEATERS.....CHEATERS Review: Cheaters was a very good book is shows how every person needs love to overcome any problems in his or her life. Cheaters show that not only men cheat but women too. Eric Dickey paints a sassy sexy portrait of men, women, and modern morals--in a high spired rollercoaster ride of a novel about the risks and rewards of falling in love.
Rating: Summary: Cheaters Review: Cheaters was a very real book that takes whoever reads it into someone elses life. Through lies, cheaters and real friends. It shows how cheaters cheat and how the ones that get cheated on react. It's sad, funny , and crazy at times and it tells it all like it is.
