Summary: Fantabulous!
Review: I just finished reading this book. It was fantastic! Garth Nix did a great job portraying the characters of Sabriel, her father, Mogget, the dead, and all the others. I especially like the point at the end where all the loose ends tie together. Make sure you read the prologue and the epilogue, because it clues you in.

Summary: Effective Part
Review: "It was Kerrigor. The soldiers who'd barred the door lay dead around him, pale flesh islands about a sea of darkness. He had no shape now, but there were semi-human features in the great ink-splash of his presence. Eyes of white fire, and a yawning mouth that was lined with flickering coals of a red as dark as drying blood." When I read this part of the book, Sabriel, by Garth Nix, I thought it was neat the way he used certain words to describe things. One part I liked was when he said, "The soldiers who'd barred the door lay dead around him, pale flesh islands about a sea of darkness." The reason I liked it so much is that it's original and colorful. I liked the way the author phrased it: "pale flesh islands about a sea of darkness." I also liked it when he used the words: "semi-human features in the ink-splash of his presence," when he (he being the author) was describing Kerrigor. It's just great language when he said, "ink-splash of his presence." In conclusion, Garth Nix is good at using descriptive language.

Summary: A Truly Great Book
Review: Although this book is geared towards 12-14 year-olds, I think it would be enjoyed by people of all ages. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in reading a book many times better than the usual fare (i.e., Redwall or The Wheel of Time). A masterpiece.

Summary: Review of Sabriel
Review: This book takes you into a world that has two different parts....one that is exactly like ours in many ways, and the other that brings the fantasy part in making it a novel that was the probably, no definitly, the best written fiction book i have ever read. the characters are fascinating, and they have great universality. it took alot of strength to put this book down. you can't stop reading this masterpiece. the way that the magic and the characters just mold together have made this book very hard to understand but it is way too much fun trying to. you don't have to understand the book to enjoy it. the only bad thing, and i must say that this frequent, but not terrible, is the fact that Garth Nix ended the book in a cliffhanger. i have been tryin to imagine what would happen in the future in that novel but there is just too many possibilities. i would love to see a movie or some game or some sequel to appear in the near future about this book. i would be the first one to read or watch or play it. if you do not believe that what i am saying is true, just pick up the book for yourself....i am already reading it for the third time.

Summary: Sabriel- An awesome fantasy fiction by Garth Nix
Review: Sabriel is a fantasy fiction book by Garth Nix. A world, created of realms of the dead and the living, and inbetween, is the world of Sabriel. She is the daughter of Abhorsen, a necromancer. He is a different sort of necromancer, though. He does not bring the dead back to life, he sends the dead back. But one day, as Sabriel is at her school in Ancelstierre, she receives startling news from her father. He is trapped, unable to help himself against the powers of Kerrigor, an undead evil being. She sets out on a complex and amazing journey. Not knowing what she is looking for, and not knowing where to go, she treks and fights to find and save her father. She soon discovers it is not only her father she needs to save. In this complex novel Garth Nix develops the characters and plot intricately and masters suspense. It is a great book for the young-adult audience!

Summary: By far, my favorite book
Review: If you are looking for a truly amazing book, pick this one up! This is such an enchanting story. If you are searching for a unique book in the genre of fantasy, and you search the bookstore aisles for ever (like I do) then this is the book for you. Since people in the USA have discovered Garth Nix in the last 6 months, the sales rank of this book has gone from the mid 100,000's to the 5,000's. That's how good this book is. I can't even to explain how well it is written, and how much you will like it when you sit down and experience it. I say experience because it is truly an experience, it takes you to another world. Don't let this one get away!

Summary: Was this really in the kids book section?
Review: I first picked up this book to preview it for my ten year old who has an advanced reading level, yet still has the fears and emotions of a ten year old. Although it was sold to me at a grade school book fair I would caution anyone out there who is considering it for younger readers...it definitely is a page turner that I enjoyed greatly, but my kids have to get older to read this one without nightmares. The topic of return of the dead and the graphic description of some of the battles would unsettle my children. (I also thought much of the action in the Jurassic Park movie was too violent for the pre-teen set, but know six year olds who have watched it without a second thought!) This is many steps up from the popular Goosebumps scares with significantly more character developement. My mind kept playing with it for days until I read it again! The plot and conclusion were far from predictable and showed more creativity than more popular authors like Stephen King. If Nix were to write a sequel I would definitely enjoy reading it. In closing, I gave this book four stars because I feel it is frequently marketed to a younger audience than it should be (not the author's fault) and that the book's topic is more intense than the reading level...easy reading for the teens who should love this book.
