Review: Absolutely brilliant. Although I like fantasy books, I tend to give up on them easily if I get confused with the bizzare worlds and characters involved. Sabriel was an exception. Despite the fact that the setting was fantasticly strange, Nix brought it to life so cleverly that it seemed completely real and understandable to me. His grasp of the characters and of the plot is, to be repetetive -- brilliant! This author is second only to Philip Pullman on my list for the ability to tell a grand story with flair -- I couldn't put Sabriel down!

Summary: Sabriel ; Its a hell of a read !
Review: I thought this was a kids book (Im a 52 year old man). But a friend suggested this book to me. Sabriel is a witty , charming and totally enjoyable story of a young lady who happens to be a necromancer; She communicates with the dead. She is on a quest to find out what happened to her father who seems to be lost in death . But along the way we encounter Nightmarish Monsters, adventure of all kinds. I am not the best reviewer but all I can say is "If you like a great story filled with adventure , humor , some romance and that you Just don't want to put down then do yourself a favor and read this book :) !

Review: Sabrial was one of the best books I have ever read and beleive me I have read a lot of books. While I was reading it I couldn't put it down and I read it in only two days!!! Sabriel is very differnt from other books amd that is what makes it so interesting and if you love fantasy novels with a twist you will love this book!!!

Review: There are two words to desribe Sabriel: Perfection & spell binding. This book was written extremely well and for those of you who like a good fantasy/science fiction this is deffinatly the book for you. I couldnt put the book down for three days! I recommended it to my parents and friends and they all loved it! This book is one of the best I have ever read!

Review: Sabriel is by far one of the best books I have ever read. It is beautifully written, and contains realistic, compatibale characters. The creatures in this book are very well detailed and it is very easy to visualize all that Garth Nix writes about. The book is basically about an amazing, 18-year-old heroin who has to save the world from the dead, by taking over her father's roll as Abhorsen. Sabriel battles the dead along with her sidekicks Touchstone and Mogget. This story also includes touches of humor and romance.

Summary: Incredibly awesome book!
Review: To start off with I just have to say this is one of the best books I have ever read. If you liked the Harry Potter books there is probably a good chance that you will like this book. All the characters, earthly or otherwise just seem to come together to make this book a masterpiece. My personal favorite is Mogget, a rebellious Free Magic spirit trapped in the form of a cat by Saraneth, one of the necromancer's bells. All in all, this book is wonderful if you like books about magic and things like it.

Review: I haven't read this book in a long time and actually, I couldn't find it either. I happened to stumble across the title on amazon and now I'm going to have to reread it, but I'll review it quickly anyway. I liked this book because it was original and unique. The idea of the Abhorsen and what he does and the demon-cat Mogget particularly fascinated me. Sabriel was a wonderful character; I found her realistic and easy to love. This is definitely a must-read.

Summary: You go through it like paper!
Review: 'Sabriel' is one of the best fantasy books that I have ever read. It grabs you at the very beginning, and it is VERY hard to stop reading. The thing that keeps you going is that until you are more than half way through the book, you have no idea of what will happen. It is very hard to assume. The less you know about this book, the better it will be, but I will tip you in a bit. The story starts when a baby girl dies and is brought back to life by her father, Abhorsen. You then skip 18 years ahead where Sabriel is in school, and has the same ability as her father. I don't want to say much more, but if you love fantasy you are sure to love this book. I am big on fantasy and this is my favorite one.

Summary: Solid YA Fantasy
Review: Though I've long since passed the "appropriate" age to read young adult fantasy books, I try to read all of the ones that have come out since I entered aduldhood. I found out about Sabriel on amazon -- it was listed on many people's favorites lists. What a find! I finished the book in one sitting, completely entranced. Mr. Nix's imagination shines in the pages of Sabriel. While the basis of the plot is farly standard -- young orphan-like girl has adventures, finds strength she didn't know she had, experiences love -- it's the details that really stand out. The story of the Abhorsen, in particular, is fascinating. I don't, however, give the book 5 stars because it left a few loose ends here and there, and could have used a tad more editing. It's a fun read, though, recommended for anyone who enjoys Robin McKinley, Lloyd Alexander, Philip Pullman, and C.S. Lewis.

Review: Sabriel was one of the best books I've ever read. I stayed up all night reading it because I just couldn't put it down. Garth Nix is a very original writer. I had never heard of him until now. I bought the book because of it's unusual cover. Nix has a very unique style of writing you don't see much. There were hardly any of those dull moments in this book; the kind where it goes on and on with description. It reads like a nightmare, which keeps it interesting. There's always a new challenge the doesn't seem to be resolved until the next page, which keeps you turning. As for being called "young adult", I don't know where they came up with that. This definatly could be enjoyed by children and adults alike. I'm very anxious for a sequel, but in the mean time I'll be reading some of his other books. To make a long paragraph short, you need to read this book!
