Summary: DISAPPOINTING
Review: I CANNOT BELIEVE I PLOUGHED THROUGH 600 PLUS PAGES OF THIS BOOK. IT IS FAR FROM LITERATURE AND IF THE AUTHOR WAS NOT A BLACK LAW PROFESSOR IT WOULD NOT HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY.IT IS SO TEDIOUS AND NEEDS MAJOR MAJOR CUTTING.

THE WRITING IS AVERAGE, THERE ARE LOTS OF DISCREPENCIES A GOOD EDITOR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT. eg, THEY ORDER CRABCAKES AND RICE AND THEN THE CHARACTER IS LOOKING AT THE FRENCH FRIES ON HIS PLATE.

THE WIFE, KIMMER IS ONE OF THE MOST ANNOYING, SELFCENTERED CHARACTERS I HAVE EVER CAME ACROSS.WHETHER THIS BOOK IS WRITEN BY A BLACK OR WHITE PERSON IT SHOULD HAVE TO MEET THE SAME STANDARDS AND THIS BOOK IS MOST UNSATISFYING.

Summary: unsatisfying ending
Review: The author asks you to invest some time in understanding the complex scenario he creates. Unfortunately, he does not reward your investment, as the book's ending does not provide closure to some important subplots and allows important questions to remain unsolved. It almost seems that the author was unable to unwrap all of the plot's entanglements elegantly, and simply allowed himself to present an abrupt and unsatisfying ending.

Summary: Excellent character depth and fabulous writing
Review: I've seen this book referred to as a "Legal Thriller". I don't think that's quite accurate, although the role of the Law, and how that relates to Justice, is an important theme. Either way, this book is a thriller without being shallow, is about race without being preachy, and is about religion and relationships without being tiresome. If you want a quick read, and like your characters to be in the mode of Tom Clancy characters (super-hero falls in love with brilliant beauty and saves civilization), then this book is not for you. If you're interested in crisp writing, character depth, and a great story, I recommend this book highly.
