Rating: Summary: awesome Review: This book was so awesome that I read it over and over again. I just can't stop reading it from time to time. It starts out a little slow, but it gets really good at the middle and end. But you might not like it if you haven't played Myst. It has a lot of information of why things are the way they are on the games. If you're interested in myst, you certainely will want to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Good, but ending was a let-down Review: I disagree with the review that claimed the story was drowned in too much detail. The descriptions and illustrations added a truely special vision that accompanied the lot. It would be odd not to expect this type of rich environment from the people who conjured both MYST and Riven. None the less, the ending seemed thrown together, the 'happily ever after' conclusion strangely out of line with the grim beginning to MYST. As far as plot is concerned, this is not a stellar book, but the imagery alone more than makes up for it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: Brilliant! These guys are geniuses! If you love the games, you've GOT to read the books.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorites! Review: One of the best books I've read. I can visualize it in my mind so clearly, it seems real.
Rating: Summary: A MYSTery it was published... Review: This book was written horribly. The movement of the plot was suffocated by insane attention to detail that does not work in a novel. Detail in the game was wonderful, but not here. There was so much potential, yet nothing really happened in the book that couldn't be summed up in a few short paragraphs.
Rating: Summary: It is the most amazing book yet Review: This Book will engulf you with it's amazing descriptions and detail to the smallest thing I have never read a beter book in my life.
Rating: Summary: It was great. Review: I really loved the book and even have started reading the others. i can't wait to get the game!
Rating: Summary: The Bible for the reader to learn the Art of the D'ni. Review: I love this book mostly because of its description with how to write worlds in the Myst/Riven universe. This gives a better understanding of the games as well. I rather enjoyed the backstory, and I truely recommend getting the trilogy (including this one) in HARDCOVER. I read this book in paperback, and I feel as if I was missing out on something once I saw the full hardcover edition in a bookstore. I'm about to by it off here, at Amazon. Every page has a background, and the first time I turned a page in the book, I could have sworn I heard the same page-turning-sound as there is in the game. It is truely magical, the power of MYST.
Rating: Summary: This was one of the best books I've read! Review: I found this book suspensefull and thrilling, although it is slo in some parts, especially the beggining. Besides a few faults, This book was one of the best I've ever read. The storyline kept me reading through the few dull parts. I reccomend this book to anyone that likes fantasy and adventure.
Rating: Summary: A great book! If it were more widely known, it'd be CLASSIC! Review: I am reviewing this book as a regular Fantasy/Fiction reader, because I believe that as a book, not as a MYST book, this is one of the greatest books ever created. You don't need to be a MYST fan (Although I am) or a fantasy reader to enjoy this book! I think the main reason it didn't become a huge bestseller was because most people thought it was made for MYST fans, computer nerds, etc. It's not. The Miller brothers truly are wonderful writers. MYST: The Book of Atrus, along with its other two books in the collection, have every element of a great novel. And that's what I think they are. Not only does this novel explain the history and story of MYST and Riven, but it also is an exciting adventure in itself. I would suggest this original book to anyone who enjoys adventure, fantasy, or sci-fi books.
