Rating: Summary: I LOVE this book! Review: I have read this book many times, it is both humerous and touching. I enjoyed reading about Norton and his adventures. Gethers has the ability to make even mundane events sound very interesting, and he has the gift of being an entertaining writer. Any cat lover will just adore this book.
Rating: Summary: Cheetos for your brain Review: I have the deepest sympathy for those reviewers who felt this was the best book they have ever read. Those types of remarks speak volumes about the reviewer (!), but nothing about this book. While it was pleasant enough, only someone raised on a diet of American network television could mistake this for literature. Having four cats in my own home, I could identify with Norton - who was by far the most appealing character. Unfortunately, the author fills most of the book with the descriptions of and anecdotes about a vast array of seemingly vacuous and self-absorbed "beautiful people". Who wouldn't prefer a cat to this crowd?I suggest if you really are a cat lover, buy a supply of Pounce, get down on the floor and spend some real quality time with your ouwn feline(s), or donate the cost of the book to your local humane society.
Rating: Summary: A great read for pet lovers anywhere Review: I just purchased this book a couple of weeks ago and I read it in one night. Mr. Gethers does a great job telling us about "his little guy". He is honest and interesting, and he is very funny. (I was laughing out loud while reading about Norton's first plane trip). Most importantly, he is a very faithful friend to Norton. Norton gives a lot in return. It is impossible not to fall in love with Norton while reading this book. So, I raced out to purchase the next two Norton books but only the third book was in stock. I am almost done with it, and I have to say it is just as good as this book, if not better. I highly recommend both books. Read them - You will not be sorry. I have the feeling the 2nd book in the series is another winner, and I will pick it up ASAP.

Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written and a fabulous read! Review: I love the way Gethers wrote this book and the way his descriptions are so vivid that I can see Norton doing all his things. I would recommend this book to any cat lover.
Rating: Summary: I hope Norton has turned Mr. Gethers into a real cat lover Review: I read only the first book of the three in the series, but I cried a lot whilst I was reading it as I've already realised that Norton's gone before I came to know him. So I can imagine I'll cry even more when I read the two other books I ordered (Further Advertures and Final Advertures). Norton is surely every cat-lover's dream cat. But, what I want to say here is that after reading the book, I love my own cat even more. A cat's life is relatively short and vulnerable compares with human being, and so we should cherish the days when we still have our cat with us. Finally I sincerely hope that Mr. Gethers can extend his love for Norton to other cats as well, as, I do believe, that's what little angel Norton tried to teach him.
Rating: Summary: I adore Norton the wonder cat Review: I read this book a number of years ago. It remains to be my number one favorite book of any kind. And that's saying something for a librarian. I am a huge cat lover--my nickname is Kat--and I immediately fell in love with this fabulous feline. I miss Norton and would like to know what he's up to since "A Cat Abroad." "The Cat Who Went to Paris" is required reading for cat lovers.
Rating: Summary: you'll love it! Review: i read this book about 2 or 3 years ago, and it still finds its way into my thoughts. peter gethers has made it onto my favorite author list, which is quite a feat! the cat who went to paris had it all. it was sarcasticlly humorous, touchingly poignant and had an overall feeling of completness and left me with a good feeling. I felt i KNEW norten and peter personally and i felt close to them. any book that can do that is well worth your time!
Rating: Summary: love the cat, not the owner Review: I read this book because I am a Scottish Fold lover and owner myself. The book was enjoyable. I especially liked the beginning, since Norton made himself at home from the start. But the owner wrote more about the people he knows and the parties that he went to than Norton. Norton should have been the focus of this book, but he was made to be the side story.
