Summary: A review
Review: "Belle, Belle, mama Belle. Come back mama Belle! Come on Belle, please come back. Just come back to me! Please come back to me, mama. Woodrow has been screaming and screaming for Belle (his mother) to come back. He looked everywhere, too, just trying to find his mother. Well everyone is trying to find her. "Mama!" Do you think Woodrow will ever see his mother that he so dearly loves, or has she disappeared forever? What do you think? In Ruth White's book, Belle Prater's Boy, she does very much so develop her characters nicely. Ruth White also writes great suspense. When a writer writes suspense, that leads me to want to read the book even more and not put it down. I won't ever know what actually happened to Belle Prater, no one will. Ruth White hasn't made a sequel and isn't supposed too.
I believe that Gypsy was a problemed child with absolutely no direction whatsoever. Gypsy had long golden beautiful hair down to her butt. Gypsy just got caught up in the moment with anger and rage. So she cut off all of her long, beautiful, golden hair. I think everyone gets caught up in the moment at least once in a while. Some people don't even notice because the effect isn't on them. Some of the time the consequences are harsh to you or the other person. But it's not your fault that you don't notice because most of the time you don't know what your doing or saying. When Gypsy got through, practically all her hair was laying there on the floor in its golden locks.
I believe Belle was where the two worlds parted or came together however you want to say it. . Woodrow, her son, even remembered his mother, Belle, always talking about that certain place, too. It was like she had either been there before or she really badly wanted to go there. It helped Ruth's book be more mysterious which helped the reader get more into the book you always wondered where she was, what she was doing, how someone felt about that situation, what that person would say, if a fight would break out things like that.
I do believe that Belle Prater didn't just disappear into the thin air. I mean whoever heard of a person disappearing into thin air except in a magic trick which isn't real. I think that the girl just used the invisible potion. Woodrow and Belle ordered the ingredients and made the potion. Belle even used the invisible potion once before. She didn't have much but she was invisible for a while. So why would someone let something go to waste? Especially when at the time money was so important and in short supply.
I believe Woodrow was a good, well great story teller. If people wanted to hear any stories they wanted to hear Woodrow's. They didn't like other people's stories because they weren't Woodrow's stories. But Woodrow borrowed his stories from his mom, Belle Prater. When everyone was listening to someone else's story and if Woodrow had come along they turned to Woodrow and whoever was telling their certain special story would get mad at Woodrow, but it wasn't at all Woodrow's fault. Everyone just loved Woodrow's stories though.
It was obvious that Belle had a very important role in the book, Belle Prater's Boy. Woodrow usually liked to tell stories. Everyone loves his stories too. Sometimes I wish I could tell stories like Woodrow's especially when I'm in trouble to ease the punishment. Gypsy was a probablemed child who isn't crazy just gets caught up in the moment. When she does, she doesn't know what she is doing or what the bad, hard consequences is. I think that happens to everyone at least once in a long while. Sometimes you don't notice it because the consequences don't happen to either you or you don't even bother noticing who and how you are hurting someone or something. The book, Belle Prater's Boy, shows emotion with characters you can understand. Characters like you and me.

Summary: Good book
Review: I thought that this was a really good book, but i must admit that it had a weak ending, but I would still rate it a 5 this is a great book to read if you enjoy books with more emotions than action. Its an easy read for a 6th grader, but is still defianantly worth it.

Summary: Belle Prater's Boy By Ruth White
Review: Has anyone in your family ever disappeared? Gypsy's Aunt Belle did. Now Gypsy's cousin Woodrow has to live with their grandparents that live next door to Gypsy. Woodrow is cross-eyed and his mom was saving money to get his eyes fixed. When Belle disappeared, the money for the operation also disappeared. Woodrow knows something about his mom's disappearance, will he tell anyone what he knows?

Belle Prater's Boy was a very good book to me. I found the experiences that the characters go through exciting and sometimes funny. I loved the book even though none of my life expieriences related to the story at all. The only weakness is that the author used a lot of slang words like "Didja" substituting for "Did you." I would recommend this book to teens mostly because of the excitement, suspense, and the characters.

Summary: Belle Prater's Boy
Review: Belle Prater's Boy by Ruth White is a very mysterious and suspenseful story. Woodrow has come to live with his grandparent's, right next door to his cousin, Gypsy, because his mom, Belle, has suddenly disappeared. No one knows what has happened, but Woodrow seems very confidence in his conclusion. When Woodrow comes to live with his grandparent's, he seems to become an influence to Gypsy. Gypsy, known as the town beauty, does not want to be noticed for her looks, but for her heart. I recomend this book to everyone on earth. It is really good!

Summary: A Witty Read with Memorable Characters
Review: This book takes the reader through a series of seemingly unrelated events between Woodrow's and Gypsy's young lives in a small Virginia town while subliminally weaving a parallel counter plot related to their pasts in which the similarites between the two searching youths is finally identified in a heartfelt, but all too realistic, ending for both characters. This novel was an unknown, unexpected, but enjoyable treat; if only Ruth White endowed us with more wonderful, intrigueing storytelling.

Summary: great book!!
Review: The reason I did't give it 5 stars was because Ruth doesn't pull the story into an ending very well. Summary: The main character, Gyspy has a cousin named Woodrow, who has crossed eyes and is very good at telling jokes and stories. He is imaginative and mischievous and sensitive to Gyspy. She likes to be good looking and hates piano lessons. He hates her long hair because people just notice her long pretty hair and not the real her. The plot is that Woodrow is trying to find his mother, who has disappeared. Gypsy is trying to get over her dad's death The cousins soon learn that they have a lot in common and become the best of friends. Ruth tries it do tie the 2 stories together and does a pretty good job but can't conclude with a satisfying ending. If there was one more charatcer I would have gotten all confused.

Summary: This book is DULLSVILLE!!!!
Review: I had to read this book for a book report, and if anyone asked me to read it again, I would have to refuse. This book was not only dull, but it had a pretty bad ending as well. It seemed like there should have been at least another two chapters to it. The ending didn't really wrap up the story. The author kept jumping between two different ideas in the story. I could tell that she tried to tie the two ideas together, but she did not do a very good job. In short, if you like dull stories, read this book. If not, skip it and go on to another book.

Summary: Belle Prate's Boy
Review: Gypsy Leemaster's dad died and Woodrow Prater's Mom dissappears. When Woodrow's mom, Belle Prater, dissappears, his dad drinks. Woodrow comes to live with his granny. Gypsy gets into lots of things with woodrow.(Including Fights) Gypsy dose not like her stepdad but he tries and means well. Gypsy is a very average person. But she really hates her hair. Woodrow is cross eyed. Everyone in the book is very important and you have to pay attention to almost everyone. You can't wait to find out what happens to Belle but they could not pull the story to an end very well. You do find out what happens to Amos Leemaster. (Gypsy's Dad)

Summary: A Spectacular Book
Review: I think this book is great. Even though we never found out what happened to Belle I still love this book. BUT Amos shouldn't have killed himself because it was very stupid because he left his wife and also his daughter Gypsy. I had fun reading this book and I hope you do to.
