Summary: Lucky Us!
Review: It's difficult to imagine not liking Michael J. Fox; he's the kind of guy you want to hug, laugh and shoot the breeze with. His winning personality comes through in this unforgettable account of his life from childhood to fame to his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. He understands that everyone is special, and that everyone has a story to tell. His story, despite all his adversities, is inspiring in the true sense of the word. The world is a better place because he has written such a funny, sensitive and touching memoir. Lucky for all the P.D.-affected individuals that he has written it, and lucky for the rest of us too. I cherish every minute I spent reading this book. If you ever see him, give him a hug for me.

Summary: Enlightened
Review: The title says it all. I had personal reasons for selecting this book because my father has Parkinson's Disease and I wanted to try to understand more about the disease. Michael J. Fox does a wonderful job of conveying his feelings about this disease, both the positive and negative aspects of having Parkinson's disease. Believe it or not, he says the positive side of having it has caused him to become a better and stronger person. Once you have reached rock-bottom, there is only one to go and that is up. He describes how he has come to terms with having Parkinson's and all the emotions that accompany the disease, such as anger, depression, regret, loneliness, and bitterness.

Michael went through some rough times after he found out he had Parkinson's. The book tells about the suffering, drinking, trying to keep his television show going and having to hide his symptoms of Parkinson's from the public.

The saddest part of the book is when he tells his wife about having Parkinson's. His children call him "shaky dad". You can't help but sympathize with him. It makes you want to cry your heart out, until the end of the book when he describes how he has come to terms with having Parkinson's and how he has learned to face day-to-day events. The reader is left with a positive feeling, knowing that if this man can go through all he has overcome, being a celebrity, and still face the world, anyone can.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has Parkinson's disease, or family and friends of Parkinson's disease patients because it is encouraging, supportive, and full of information about Parkinson's disease and how to deal with it.

Summary: Michael J Fox at his best!
Review: OK, I've been a MJF fan for a long time, and consider him one of my favorite actors; well now, I count him as one of my favorite authors. When I bought his book, expected a reasoning through his illness, and how he dealt with it. However, for my pleasant surprise, I found him taking me back and forth through what I call an interesting life, that gives you all the angles to really understand why he, after all this years, calls himself a "Lucky Man". Trully and inspirational book, that shows you that even superstars are human after all! I give this book, five stars times 1000. Great buy, thank you Mike!....

Summary: INSPIRATIONAL
Review: THE BOOK WAS VERY INSPIRATIONAL. MICHAEL'S POSITIVE
ADDITUDE IS REFRESHING! :)

IT'S GOOD TO SEE A PRODUCT OF HOLLYWOOD CRITICIZING SOME OF ITS MOST DESTRUCTION ELEMENTS. IT'S AN HONEST ACCOUNT OF A MAN WHO WANTS TO BE A GOOD MAN. HE SEES THE GLASS HALF-FULL.

Summary: A Roadmap Past Accetance To Gratitude
Review: Mr. Fox has eloquently recounted his journey through his debilitating crisis. He has exemplified in his memoir how to transform his curse, his anathema to a gift of discernment. He has graciously shown in his book his long road to gratitude and happiness in life. After reading through it, you will feel happy and thankful for Mr. Fox for the wisdom gained.

Summary: Best book I have read in years.
Review: Touching, funny and heart warming. You can almost hear Michael reading the words to you. Easy and enjoyable to read. I had problems putting it down. Finally got it back after passing it round my work colleagues. People who do not like Michael J Fox as an actor will still like this book. I found myself laughing out loud at some bits.

Summary: Michael J. Fox has certainly outdone himself this time!!
Review: "Lucky Man" is a book that is nothing short of astonishing or as honest as the man who wrote it, Michael J. Fox. When I was little, I loved to watch Michael all the time on "Family Ties". And as I grew up, I watched his many movies, such as the "Back to the Future" films, "Bright Lights, Big City" (To me, his best dramatic film by far), "The Secret of My Success", "The Hard Way", "For Love or Money", "Life with Mikey", and "Doc Hollywood". And when his new TV series, "Spin City" rolled around, I thought that it was the absolute best Michael J. Fox TV show ever since "Family Ties"! I was at a bookstore one day, and a display showed that Michael was about to release a book entitled "Lucky Man". I said to myself that I had to get it, no matter what. When I bought it, I sat down and started reading. Man, this is a book that you can't put down for a second! "Lucky Man" gives an inspiring look at Michael J. Fox's life in a nutshell. It gives us sort of a flashback into his life in Canada, his family, his struggles with success, a brief look at his wife, Tracy Pollan, and his films and TV shows. And it all leads up to when he announced to the world that he had Parkinson's disease, which eventually led to the final "Spin City" show with Michael in it, which I will never, ever forget. I instantly felt his pain when I knew what it was like to live with this disease, but Michael has also found "peace, security, and spiritual strength to stand in one place" through his battle for a cure with Parkinson's, and that he is not the only person in the world with Parkinson's. A many number of others have it, such as former Heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali. And I will be praying that they will find a cure for Michael and many others one day. In conclusion, I just have to say that I very highly recommend this book to anyone who is an avid Michael J. Fox fan, etc. "Lucky Man" somehow reminds you that Michael J. Fox is a really nice guy with an edge, and that it is a great pleasure to watch him on the big screen, and that you do not have to be embarrassed to like him...I know I'm not! "Lucky Man" is the absolute best celebrity autobiography that I have read since...ever!

Summary: Gets better toward the end
Review: The early chapters are not so good. One gets the impression that Fox is a bit conceited. But later on, especially when he writes about dealing with Parkinson's, the book gets much better. I was not impressed with his characterization of his wife: he paints her as alternating between a suffering saint and a super-supportive sycophant. I don't feel as though I got a three-dimensional picture of Tracy Pollan, who is obviously the most important person in his life. I wanted to like the book more, because I like Fox a lot. And I respect what he has done in going public with his Parkinson's Disease. So, if you don't have time to read the whole thing, go directly to the last couple of chapters where he talks about being famous, having the disease, and how the two situations interact in intersting ways.

Summary: An Incredible Autobiography!!
Review: This was an extremely well-written autobiography. It really is a page-turner! I enjoyed all parts of Michael's book - from learning about his family life growing up, to his acting struggles (eating tuna and macaroni) to Family Ties, Back to the Future, and Spin City, and then to the more recent years and how he is coping with PD (Parkinson's). I can also relate to how he pulled strength from his grandmother's encouragement and love. Michael J. Fox is a fighter - he has a lot of strength. I highly recommend this book!

Summary: We're the lucky ones!
Review: The title of this review says it all, because when Michael J. Fox decided to write a book, we are the ones who were lucky. This is a great, often heart warming book. He tells about everything from his humble beginnings in the acting business, to turning his life around from a reckless life style, and so much more. A lot of the book is about his struggles with Parkinson's disease, eventually coming to terms with it. The only disappointment that I feel I must make others aware of is that he does not discuss in detail his days on Family Ties, Back to the Future 1, 2, and 3, or Spin City. I had personally hoped he'd talk about these a lot. He discusses them, of course, but not as much as I'd have liked. Still, in my personal opinion, the rest of the book makes up for it anyway! It is a great book I definitely recommend. Have a nice day!
